**Q: I was wondering how long it took you to build this?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I also want something built like this.  I want to hire a local handyman near me, but am afraid that the handyman I hire will be a scam.  Any tips?

A: in total, it took three days - one day to frame.  one day to trim out and caulk. and one day to paint and finish the tack panels along the back.

A: you can do a search for a Capiz pendant - a bunch of companies make them.

**Q: Top of railing??** *(in Photo Questions)*

I grasp the construction of the railing from your earlier post, not sure how the top is done. My guess is some 1x4s on each side of the 4x4 posts and then capped with maybe a 1x6 laying horizontally on top of all those pieces??? Thanks!

A: that's correct - the cap is just a bunch of 1x stock wrapped in a u-shape with mitred corners.

A: Sorry but I am not familiar with the California market for custom millwork - my guess is that you could find a good carpenter to do this for about $5k.

Can you tell me who makes those closet doors?   Are they custom made?

A: They are from IKEA but they discontinued the full glass doors due to high breakage rates in transport.  You can definitely have these custom made but they would probably be costly.  Sorry for the bad news!
