We interviewed multiple general contractors and Distinctive was the only one that didn't feel like a sales meeting. First, Eddie Casanave, the owner of Distinctive, met us for every meeting prior to the start of construction. Eddie never tried to push up the price of the scope, he understood our budget and made recommendations to keep us within that budget. He was very patient with us as we changed the scope of work numerous times. > > One of the most important things to us (in addition to quality workmanship) was working with a contractor who stands behind their work and Distinctive delivered! Early on in our project, the flooring that was installed turned out to be defective. The flooring manufacturer tried to get us to accept an unimpressive offer to settle things. Eddie made it clear to the manufacturer that this was NOT a homeowner's problem. The manufacturer agreed to take out all the boards and replace with new ones...which again turned out to be defective. Ultimately, we decided to use a different flooring, which actually resulted in a credit back to us. You heard me correctly! Even with the floor being installed twice, Distinctive stood behind their work and passed none of the additional cost on to us. Even thought this wasn't their fault, they took ownership of the entire situation. > > Our project manager and assistant project manager, Keith and Nick, were a pleasure to work with. Their attention to detail made us feel like they were treating our project as if it were their own. During the construction process, project managers were on site every day to supervise every aspect of the project and were readily available to answer whatever questions or concerns that came up. I still don't understand the relationship there, but Josh with Paragon was the only one of several contractors that would return my calls and seemed interested in moving the project forward. This was a small workshop addition to the back of my garage (gabled, with attic space), and didn't attract much interest from companies that were extremely busy building houses, etc. (it's a seller's market for construction in my area right now). After I was handed off to Aaron with Distinctive Remodeling, things started happening (which was great, after spending several months just searching for someone to even give me a quote). I provided a very detailed description of the project (complete with plan, elevation, and 3D views), which was accurately represented in what came back from their design process. The project manager, Keith, was very good about sending me regular emails and texts to keep me informed and get clarifications when needed. Given that this was just a "dried in" project (foundation, framing, siding, roofing, and gutters, with no interior finishing) it was completed in just over 2 months. These cabinets are Brown Jordan Outdoor Kitchens with Bead Board panel in their Key West door. Color is Java II but that color was recently discontinued. Countertops were Dekton Makai. Big Green Egg, Wilmington Grill, Alfresco Power Burner and warming drawer round out the appliances. We also installed the aluminum shutters. We didn't build the structure, so I cannot share plans on that. **Q: What color Dekton are the coutertops?** *(in Photo Questions)* looking for the color selection on the dekton countertops A: Hi Amanda, the Dekton tops are Makai. Thanks for asking! **Q: what color is used on the bookshelves and cabinetry?** *(in Photo Questions)* Trying to find a grey to use with colonnade gray or revere pewter. A: Those are gas lanterns, and no, the homeowner supplied them. Sorry. **Q: Floor color?** *(in Photo Questions)* What is the floor color? A: Hi Mr. Harris, The flooring is a 2 1/4" red oak flooring, but when we finish floors on site, we wipe several samples on the floor and let our owners select the one or combination of colors based on what they see right then. So, we don't have record of the stain color that was used on this one. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
