We lived 250 miles away & visited the job only 3 times during construction. We were so pleased & our confidence level was so high, that in 2001 Mark Saunders built us a highly customized ocean front home. The Project Manager was in constant communication, paid attention to detail and finished the home on time. > In 2004 I sold my business in Virginia & moved to Holden Beach to work with Mark Saunders Homes. I am in the unique position of having seen the business from both sides; both as a client & from the inside as part of the team. Though we’ve been building remarkable homes for over 30 years, the last is just as special and rewarding as the first – and we’ve created over 800 in total. We regret, this is the first and only negative Houzz review that we have ever received. > > The Certificate of Occupancy for this home was issued on April 7, 2008, so this home is a little more than 9 years old. While it is in a saltwater environment and at times experiences severe weather conditions, which naturally result in exterior maintenance issues; Mark Saunders Luxury Homes is always ready to respond and assist with any concerns. > > During the nine years following move-in and completion of all minor punch list items, Mark Saunders Luxury Homes received and responded to 3 issues. In 2011, there was a single fogged window, which we replaced at no cost. In 2012 there was a complaint about the central vacuum system, which was repaired at no cost. Seven years after move-in, there was another window issue. We provided all the manufacturer’s contact information and that window was replaced at no cost. Unfortunately, we have not heard from the Mainardi family since 2015 and Mark Saunders Luxury Homes was not aware of any current issue. > > Mark Saunders Luxury Homes™ utilized the very best materials and building practices available at the time of this construction. In addition, prior to construction we had the home design fully engineered by a Structural Engineer that is an expert in construction in coastal salt environments. Whether issues have resulted from incomplete maintenance, faulty caulking products, corroded flashing in a harsh environment, or other, we deeply regret the repair work the Mainardi family is now underway with and we are anxious to assist in any way we can.
