Nandina Home & Design is a boutique interior design studio that balances beautiful design and functional reality with locations in Aiken, Atlanta, and Greenville.

Established in 2006 in Aiken, South Carolina, owners Jim and Susan Victor and Sue Shannon launched the home design store with a belief that beautiful design and real life can coexist under one roof. Their “real life, real style” motto simplifies the philosophy that kids, dogs, parties and real life do happen and no one has to sacrifice real style because of them. We strive to create beautiful and functional spaces that will welcome you, nourish you, inspire you, express who you are, and reflect what you believe for years to come.

Our Atlanta-area showroom, opened in July of 2010 is additionally owned by John Ishmael, a designer with over two decades of industry experience. This showroom is located in a standalone building in the thriving business and residential community of Sandy Springs. The showroom design focuses on providing aspirational room settings that inspire creativity. What you will see showcased are designs that demonstrate our skill in working with color and pattern in a multitude of textures, with focus on our ability to customize pieces. Our showroom is frequently redesigned so that you can visualize how your very own space can be transformed when you partner with Nandina for your next interior design project.

Our professional interior design team brings years of experience and a wealth of talent to each project. We offer interior design consulting that is personalized, collaborative, and principled every step of the way—from our initial, in-home consultation to final art and accessory selections. Whether your style is traditional, eclectic, modern or contemporary, Nandina Home & Design professionals have the expertise to assist you in making your home an expression of you.

**★★★★★ — Karen Ball, Oct. 2018**

> I really did enjoy my time working with Jessie LaFalce and Harlie Aldridge decorating my new home in the Atlanta area. After presenting a few ideas they took the ball and rolled with it culminating in a beautiful outcome. I was so pleased not only with their professionalism and creativity but they also made it a fun experience and stress free for me. Jessie even showed up on the day the moving truck arrived to help with placement of my existing furniture . I will never forget that! They make a great team and I would recommend their services to anyone. Not only do I have a beautiful new home but also two new sweet friends! Karen

**★★★★★ — Gayle Demarest, Oct. 2018**

> I love Nandina Home and Design! I have worked with a lot of designers in the past, and never have encountered such a high level of customer-oriented service. The designers’ goal is to provide expertise while ensuring that they understand the client’s personality and taste. I always feel that Jessie and Harlie are making recommendations for design and products that they know my husband and I will be comfortable with. We have added many beautiful and interesting pieces and design elements that we never would have come up with without working with Nandina, yet our home still feels like “us.” We have had the pleasure of working with Jessie and Harlie on our home in Atlanta as well as our mountain home in Cashiers, North Carolina. I look forward to continuing to use my favorite designers from Nandina as we work on other aspects of our homes’ designs. Thank you for the excellent customer service and unrivaled design services that you provide!

> Kate and John from Nandina were terrific to work with on a few recent home decorating projects. They understood my style easily and were able to create looks that fit into my home seamlessly. They also made suggestions that I would not ordinarily think of. I was able to complete the projects in a timely fashion and will use Nandina again without question.

**★★★★★ — Lori Peterson, Aug. 2017**

> We needed to replace our 15+ year Norwalk living room furniture and wanted to purchase Norwalk again. We went to Nandina not realizing that they offered design services. Kate and John were wonderful to work with. They came to the house, measured, and promptly came up with two versions of how to redo the room. They had great ideas and got me out of my boring comfort zone. They were more than willing to be flexible and consider other patterns, etc. Our room looks bright and inviting but still comfortable. We were so happy that we just worked with them to recover our dining room chairs, which also look wonderful. Thanks so much to Kate and John for their hard work!

**Comment from Nandina Home & Design:**

> Thank you Lori for your kind words. We are so happy that we could help you create a warm and inviting home!

**★★★★★ — Andrea Maguire, Aug. 2017**

> I really can't say enough great things about Nandina Home and Design and these two fantastic designers. John Ishmael and Kate Donnelly are the first designers I have successfully worked with who listened to what I wanted to achieve in my home. They were able to take my basic ideas and random pictures and create a beautiful and comfortable living space that is perfect for my home and family, all while respecting my budget in a timely and efficient schedule. This team has a vast and extensive collection of quality resources to deliver any item needed in the home that was dreamed up in the design process, including custom created items.
> You couldn't ask for a better team!

**Comment from Nandina Home & Design:**

> Thank you Andrea! We love the final product and are so glad that you do as well!

**★★★★★ — Amy Rebecca C., Aug. 2017**

> The designers at Nandina are true pros! They helped me transform my new townhome into my dream home. They were always prompt & professional, and made the whole experience easy and fun for me. I'd highly recommend them for your next project.

**★★★★★ — Gregg Marcus, Aug. 2017**

> As a rep I work with a lot of retail and design firms and Nandina Home is one of the most professional and customer oriented accounts I work with in Atlanta and beyond. The staff is attentive and their product knowledge is second to none. Not to mention that they have great taste! I would highly suggest that if you looking for design help you contact Nandina.

**★★★★★ — Emily Robinson, July 2017**

> The team at Nandina is very professional and prompt, they do a great job with their vendors and clients alike.

**★★★★★ — Kathleen Oliver, June 2016**

> I was in the process of redoing my master bedroom, bathroom, sitting room and guest room when I realized that I needed professional help. John and Jennings came to my home and met with me and then developed a great plan for furniture, draperies and linens. They were able to pull everything together into a very cohesive, comfortable and beautiful design that I truly love. They were great to work with. I highly recommend them.

**★★★★★ — alizakassim, July 2015**

> John Ishmael and his wonderful team at Nandina were exceptional when working with me in getting custom window treatments made for our nursery.
> Everyone from the receptionist to other associates at the store, installers and John, himself were courteous, on-point and willing to listen and respectfully offer opinions if and when asked for.
> They affixed the roman shades and cornice over plantation shutters leaving the shutters unharmed and still functional!
> the workmanship is superb with attention to detail - clean stitching and lining where necessary.
> The best part of all - the order was completed in record time with every effort by John and the team to have them here before the baby arrived!

**★★★★★ — sjhale, April 2015**

> John and Jennings were fantastic to work with for my living room and dining room update. They really understood what I was looking for, gave me options and worked within my budget. They helped not only with furnishings but wall colors. Loved the results! Would definitely recommend Nandina and will use them again!

**★★★★★ — mkv525, March 2015**

> When we relocated from New York City to Atlanta we found ourselves with a big house, and virtually no furniture. John, Jennings and the Nandina team helped transform our empty house into a beautifully decorated home, completing our MBR, living room, dining room, study, guest rooms, children's rooms, and an outdoor room. Beyond furnishings they managed subcontractors for flooring and paint. The process was fun and stress free and the results are fantastic - thoughtful layouts, designer touches but still livable for a family with small children. And all was completed on an aggressive timeline.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Metal/wood table** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hello. Where did the metal & wood table come from?

A: Hi Dee,
This project was done four years ago. All of our vendors are too the trade only, but this particular table is no longer available. We can find something similar for you from one of our other vendors if you are interested! Please send me dimensions!

**Q: need design help...** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Are the pendants too high? Also should I raise the mirrors? And any suggestions on what to put beside the mirrors?

A: We would do artwork there instead of mirrors, and perhaps try smaller pendants in those areas.

**Q: please help me decorate my living room. it’s along narrow space.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi! Need help !! Please don’t mind the junk in the corner. I was in the middle of organizing. How would u decorate and set up this space? TIA

A: Get two cabinets to go under each window, sofa facing the fireplace, and two chairs to go under the small window/wall to the right of the fireplace. Here are some designs to help you with the layout.

**Q: New Space Dont know what to Do** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We have been renovating for a year now, finally getting ready to finalize the family room living room space. As you will see the family room only has a sectional and a TV.....yikes., help. The living room has 2 chairs and a lamp. My vision is to have the living room more like reading room with some shelves fire place etc. FR just cozy spot to watch TV with the family

A: We would look into getting a rug, end table, ottoman, and a long low TV console. Here is an idea for you:

**Q: I still need help with my dining room** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have been on here before asking for help with my dining room. Wallpaper was the overwhelming answer to making this a beautiful room. While wallpaper would have made for a very beautiful room, I could not for the life of me talk husband into it. To add some drama to the room, we had the ceiling painted a dramatic color and I have since added some drapery with color (the others were just beige). It's that back wall by the china cabinet that has given me the most trouble. Candle Sconces? Mirrored candle sconces? I would then take down the mirror in the room. The electric sconces that match the chandelier are in the foyer right outside the dining room. So, I was afraid that would be sconce overload. Plates? Art work? The height of the china cabinet creates a problem with art work. The art work would have to be hung too low (or at least that's what I think). I have also considered reupholstering the dining room chairs. Would also love to do something with the inside of the china cabinet and getting new display dishes. I am having a real hard time pulling this room together. I am adding pics of the foyer as well just so you know what is right outside the dining room. Thank you in advance for any ideas you may have.

A: Can you paint below the chair rail? We might try that to help balance out the dining room and dramatic ceiling. Below are some great dining room designs of ours that might just inspire you more:

**Q: Wall decor and 2x2 modern windows** *(in Home Decorating)*

Hi. Does anyone have any suggestions for what to do on this wall? These windows looked better on a blue print. So many squares! Thanks!!

A: We might do a round mirror over the bed, and drapes on both windows to make them look like long windows.
