## About

DB&S Lumber and Home Improvement Centers is a name that has been synonymous with high-quality, affordable home supply products for more than sixty years. Founded in 1946 by Edward C. “Ed” Doherty, DB&S began as a family-run business specializing in hardware and remodeling supplies. Today, DB&S has grown to become one of the largest lumber and home improvement companies in the Boston area with four locations. We are proud to say that we are still family owned and operated.

Ed Doherty founded DB&S with his first location in Roslindale. Fourteen years later, he opened a second location in Westwood. In 1967, Ed expanded his business once again with the purchase of the Blacker & Shepard Yard of Boston. In 1968, the Boston location was moved to its present day address on Gerard Street. Recognizing a need to better service South Shore customers, DB&S opened its locations in Norwell and Bridgewater in 1978 and 1986 respectively.

Today, DB&S carries a variety of trusted brand name building supplies and equipment perfect for both do-it-yourselfers and contractors. Our Norwell location features our Kitchen and Bath Design Center staffed with experienced and knowledgeable designers.

> I had the kitchen cabinetry designed & manufactured. Not sure if the designer only wanted to push sales of the cabinetry for more commission. She designed the drawers to sit on the counter. I did not catch that because it's my first house. When the carpenter finished installing, he told me the problem that the drawers should not be prepare to open often unless you don't put anything in front of it. OR every time you open it, you need to clear the way, what a pain!!! I lost 21" of counter space in front of the drawers. And because the drawer is sitting at the corner and the drawer's hardware is located at the bottom, ok for installing, but the left side was blocked by the wall and impossible to reach hardware to remove. Besides this, when the designer take the measurement, she forgot to reduce the thickness of the sheetrock. The carpenter found out there was not enough space to install as designed & manufactured. He had to shift the sink to the left to steal the space from the dish washer. The kitchen sink is not at the center of the windows as planned. I spent $20,000 for such a design and need to pay more for the carpenter to remove the whole set of cabinet so that he can cut the drawers away. After that, I need to pay the fabricator to redo the back splash. Not recommending to anyone at all.
