The lesson here is function first, beauty 2nd. The interesting thing is that the old clutch that I replaced for you from the other vendor is actually more expensive. Some vendors use it when they have much smaller shades that they do not want projected out from the window too far such as in an inside mount. In less experienced years, I've used the old clutch several times for aesthetic purposes and have learned my lesson. I rather the shade project out a bit more rather than having it replaced again and again. Your shade was extremely heavy and wide, so this was not an educated choice. The strings that they used were also too light to pull up the shade. I... like them. They are ok. Obviously custom window treatments are outrageously expensive. I hope it was worth it. My husband made me really question things when he said "the rings look like shower curtains" and "it looks like we bought them from Sears." Nothing wrong with Sears, but now I'm wondering if they are worth the money spent if they might not even look custom. Too late lol. Now I'm back to debating the rug. I'm going to leave it for now but will keep an eye out for a different one. I'm glad I chose a pattern on the draperies, but now I see why everyone recommended linen. Unfortunately this isn't linen and is a little stiff. The random wrinkles in it are already driving me nuts but they told me not to oversteam them. In case you are wondering, they are stationary panels. We don't need the privacy, but we did have honeycomb shades installed as well for insulation when it's cold out or for privacy when we go out of town. A: I would have chosen a different rod..kind of like the Robert Allen Rods I used for this client in the photo...I might have chosen a brighter color for the drapes or a silk taffeta or velvet to dress and accent your furniture as well. Notice in the photo how I put faux roman shades to cover the wall space between the rod and the top of the window. I wanted the center window to stand out more because of the A-framed cathedral ceiling, so I made the rod higher. There was too much wall space so I put a faux roman there and matched it on the other 2. **Q: Very nice!** *(in Photo Questions)* This looks like it was a challenging space to furnish with the openness and angles. I designed and fabricated the window treatments. **Q: Advice Please** *(in Design Dilemma)* I have white kitchen cabinets and silver nickel hardware along with faucet and stainless steel appliances. Is it ok to have bronze finish light fixtures or would it look best if I stuck with chrome/satin nickel? A: Chrome/Satin and nickel would be the best to accentuate a crisp, cool look. Bronze can work if you repeat it elsewhere to balance out the color scheme...Safer to stay away from the bronze if you unsure and don't know how to do this. **Q: Window treatments for very tall narrow windows in Great Room.** *(in Design Dilemma)* Are roman shades still 'in style' ? I have two long windows on either side of fireplace as well as a wall of windows in eating area of kitchen.. Floors are wood in great room and tile in kitchen. Need warmth ans some sound reduction. A: With all the brick and wood in the room, I would highly suggest fabric to warm the room. Because of limited wall space for fabric stacking, I would do a similar canopy style drapery that I designed for Rock Star, Anthony Kiedis. (See Picture) I would do a solid neutral grey on the outside and a printed burgundy wool on the lining to accentuate the rugs. Additionally, I would add a soft "custom Roman sheer roman shade or Roller on the window. The horizontal lines need to match with the Horizontal Mullions on the window so it doesn't look crazy! **Q: Jenn Air slide in range - countertop depth?** *(in Kitchens)* Hi, Does anyone have a Jenn Air slide in range? If so, how deep is your countertop, including the edge? My fabricator mentioned he makes the countertops 25 1/2 - 26" deep. The way I understand the specs, the counter top should be 25" deep. I don't want the black sides (less door) of the range showing past my cabinets which are 24". If the countertop is 26" deep, I don't think you would be able to push the range back enough, so the black sides don't show past the cabinets below the countertop. How deep are your countertops? Also, if you have a CD FD refrigerator, do the doors hit the edge of the countertop? Thanks Gail A: Thank you! This helps but I still don't know if it will clear the height of the counter which measures 36 ⅜ from the floor. If I measure the "G" line from bottom of cabinet to top of stove, I get 32 ⅛.
