## Community Q&A

**Q: Which front door?** *(in Polls)*

Stain will be Spanish Oak for either. 
Glass will be "water" for either. 

We love the modern but worry it won't fit our house. 

And do we match the sidelights to the door or keep them matching the window above?

A: I agree with you ... the modern door is great!  The architecture of your home may fight with the clean lines of the modern wood door.  Have you considered a vintage entry door?

**Q: Paint this Mantle White or Dark?** *(in Polls)*

A: Do you any additional photos showing other views of the room?  If you paint white I would include the fireplace.

**Q: Foldable Cat Bed- Do or Don't?** *(in Polls)*

Bringing your cat a comfortable place to sleep is important.  This unique cat bed is structured with a tough honeycomb paper core can be easily folded away. Would your cat curl up in this round bed?

A: Very cool design!  My Persian would love it ... she may want a comfy throw to go on top for the purrrrrfect nap :)

**Q: Gray Interiors: Love It Or Leave It?** *(in Polls)*

Gray is everywhere! Are you embracing it or is it a trend you could live without?

A: Depending on the quality of light in the room, room dimensions & architectural styling of house ... grey is a lovely neutral color scheme.  I like to inject a bright accent wall to enhance the grey monochromatic color palette.

**Q: TV above fireplace?** *(in Polls)*

I'm redecorating a living room and having the great debate: put the TV over the fireplace or in a built-in next to the fireplace. What would you do?

A: I suggest no TV!  The room has a nice flow from living room to kitchen which invites entertaining, conversation group cooking ... maybe the TV can be installed in another room in the house which is delegated for TV watching.

**Q: Shutters or no Shutters** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi, we recently did a renovation on our 1941 colonial adding a new garage and bedrooms/hallway above the garage.  We extended the rafters on the 'old' house and replaced all the clapboard and trim to match the new addition.  Our original house on the right had black shutters.  We ordered black hinged double paneled shutters with S hooks. 
Now that the renovation is complete we are not sure if we put the shutters on the 'old' house it will work with the new addition.  Should we put shutters on 'old' area only?  I know traditionally the garage windows would not receive shutters but should we add them to balance the house?  Will the new area look too stark with all the color on the 'old' house?  And if we add to the house do we need to add to the sides as well or only the front.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

A: Love shutters! I suggest adding them on the garage as well. I think painting them red to match the door would be a great accent color and asset to your lovely home.
