> I recently hired this company to do some rush painting jobs in my house. I found them in Facebook so I was skeptical at first. But Scott, was very prompt to reply on inquiries and follow ups. He sent Carlos to looked at the job I needed on the day he set. He came confident and knowledgeable. On the day of the job, two gentleman, (Juan and Roberto) came 15 minutes early, which made me pleasantly surprised. I had hired contractors in the past and they never on time, usuallly an hour late as scheduled. And the most important part was, they did an amazing job painting around my house. My front door trim is a very old wood covered with old paint and flaking, when they’re done it looks beautiful! Im very impressed with everything and glad I found this company, because Im definitely hiring them for my next house project. Thank you!

**Comment from Most Valuable Painters:**

> Thank you, thank you, thank you for the compliments! It is a team effort for sure. I’m glad to see my crew is doing an exceptional job!

> I choose MVP after several estimates. Scott the owner was the most personable out of the companies that came out. I had a lower bid for the work and he matched it. I had several areas painted, trim replaced around my attic access and popcorn texture removed from my dinning room ceiling. My ceiling is plaster and had some previous damage poorly patched. MVP made the ceiling look brand new while not compromising the original 1940 decorative molding. Everything was done in a timely manner and looks great. The employees were very friendly and professional. I would highly recommend MVP.

> If you’re looking for an average painting job, don’t call them. Because you’ll be disappointed. Scott and Joanne will be your most reliable and affordable painters in the area. They’ve helped me several times previously and I’ve had no complaints at all.

> Scott and his team did a fabulous job for me. They came recommended by my neighborhood forum and I'm so glad that I hired him. He power washed my house first (wood siding), he carefully documents areas of rot which needed to be taken care of before he could start painting (he set me up with a handyman who completed that work too). Then he and his team worked diligently in v hot weather. I'm thrilled with how the job turned out. When one area needed retouching, he promptly came back and fixed the problem, no questions asked. I'm hoping that he took before and after photos of my house. I have no hesitation in recommending him. Professional. Polite. Reliable. Great value AND his team cleaned up perfectly every day.

**Comment from Most Valuable Painters:**

> Wow! Thank you so much. It was a pleasure working for you!

**★★★★★ — Tonna Phelps, Aug. 2018**

> Very professional; neat; courteous; arrived on time and finished on time; excellent work. Performed two very different types of painting jobs. I was very happy with the quality of both.

**★★★★★ — Debra Kupfer, Aug. 2018**

> Scott and his team were wonderful to work with! He was timely, affordable, paid attention to detail, and did a beautiful job. He followed through finishing a job that had to be interrupted because repairs needed to be made.

**★★★★★ — Carol Link, Aug. 2018**

> MVP met all our expectations for our bathroom remodeling! Scott corrected a problem with the ceiling before painting which was beyond the scope of the work. This is an example of his professionalism and pride of workmanship.
> We are planning more projects for MVP!!

**★★★★★ — Michael Jones, Aug. 2018**

> I have used Scott and his crews several times, inside and out, for paint and for powerwashing. Nice work and good people.

## Community Q&A

**Q: no shoe mold how to** *(in Building a Home)*

Building a new house... really would like to go without a shoe mold on the baseboard... it is different than my builder has ever done it but he finally agreed.
We had planned to do all flooring first... wood and tile... and set cabinets on top... as this is what I believe is the best way to do this?
Now he’s asking to do what he’s always done and install cabinets first and just get a “close fit” with the floors up to the edges of the cabinets.
Cabinet guy is worried about having to place cabinets on top of floors because if he has to level the cabinets he may have an 8th and inch crack between the cabinet and floor... is this always this way or does he just need to be more precise in construction?
What is the correct/best step by step to getting no shoe mold?

A: It must truly be hard for the builder to be that exact. I tried to go with no shoe in my house and they ended up scratching the floor near the edge in one room and then we just decided to go with all shoe throughout to match. One mistake can be detrimental.

**Q: Paint suggestions for north facing room** *(in Paint)*

Looking for any paint colour recommendations for a north facing bedroom with low light.

A: Check out the Sherwin Williams Facebook. You can get great ideas from there! https://www.facebook.com/SherwinWilliamsforYourHome/
Yellow is always good for brightening up a room. Our office is yellow.

**Q: space space space** *(in Home Decorating)*

what would you do with this space, no need for a table there as there's a dining room adjoining. need something clever to do here

A: I agree with the idea of a little sitting area to have coffee and chat or read.

**Q: My exterior colors are a circus** *(in Paint)*

Help me pick a new color scheme! Right now I feel like it's a circus. There is so much going on that I just don't even know what is good and bad anymore. Here are a few things I do know:

I would like to do something a little more colorful or interesting than the ever popular grey and white. It's my fall back plan but I'm in WA where skies are grey A LOT, so it's not my first choice.
Windows are white so I don't want a cream trim right up against them like it is now.
We are surrounded by large evergreens and sunlight is at a premium so I don't want to go super dark, but white would be hard to keep clean.
Door will be replaced, so it could be any color
No neighbors are in view so there is no worry about blending with a neighborhood.

Right now my inclination is toward a greeny/blue/grey color like Johanna Gaines Rainy Days or SW Moody Blue with white trim. But I am totally open to other ideas. And what about those dark wood gables? Do I paint them too?

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read and think about this! I am very grateful.

A: Cape cod gray is always a good classic choice. Wedge wood blue also looks sharp with white trim. I’d paint the dark areas with the same siding color to match so they don’t stick out like a sore thumb.

**Q: 1903 colonial master bedroom help!** *(in Paint)*

We moved into our 1903, three story colonial this past September, and I have painted every single room in this house except for our master bedroom (and the finished third floor which is going to have to wait! :) )

I am now ready to give our master bedroom the attention it deserves, but have NO idea what I want to do to it! For every other room I have had the exact picture of what I wanted it to look like, but I have no clue with this one. It is really unique, has four large, five foot tall windows, and gets amazing natural light during the day. It is currently a sage green color that I don't mind, but it isn't my style. The rest of our house is either SW Snowbound, SW Pewter Green, and our bathrooms are BM Salamander. So I'm a very bright and/or fresh style.

A couple notes, this bed is staying, it's new for this house, but our furniture will all be replaced over the next year or so.

I am leaning toward painting it snowbound and replacing the rug below the bed. What ideas do you have? I'm up for ANY ideas to make this space beautiful - I'm not afraid of an accent wall either. Any help is appreciated!

One other important note, the wall to the right of the bed in the next couple years will have two doors on it, one to a second story porch (which can only be accessed through a door in the bathroom), and one to the bathroom, on the second floor so the dresser will ultimately be where that bookshelf is right now (which is only there because it has no home!)

(ALSO - I did not hang those curtain rods, they were here already or else mine would have been above the window frame. These are all plaster walls so it felt safer to just use the existing rods.)

A: You can get some great ideas from the Sherwin Williams Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/SherwinWilliamsforYourHome/
I’ll tell you that grey is all the rage right now in case you haven’t heard.

**Q: basement finishing- design question!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

The trim/doors etc in my house are all stained wood. As we begin finishing our basement, I’m stuck trying to decide if we continue the stained wood in the basement, or can we get away with white trim. I’d love to have feedback on this!!

A: I think as long as the color separation is on different floors it can totally work.
