In planning we chose all selections and were able to customize our home. During construction the project manager kept us updated and invited us to the home several times during construction. In the first year we had a few small warranty items come up and all were addressed by the Capstone Warranty group. I was a little concerned about their warranty program and hoped that I would not have any issues but they stand by their product 100%. In my community there are some complainers but any complaints are likely from unrealistic folks because they address any concerns. Capstone has been terrific and most important we love our home. I am trying to be as fair, honest and frank as I possibly can. > > Framer-1 star=Typical framer who hires cheap labor and tries to put up homes as fast as possible. Many corners cut and areas patched. Labor is poorly trained on proper construction. You will most likely lose warranty of manufacture products. Many mistakes. > > Mason-4 stars=Does good work and takes pride in his work. > > Concrete (different from mason)-3 stars=Made rookie mistakes and doesn't have an in depth knowledge of concrete. Doesn't practice recommended methods of proper concrete placement and methods. > > Roofer-4 stars= Takes pride in work and does the job right. Roofer probably would go above and beyond if builder allowed. > > Siding-3 stars= Many areas where nails didn't grab into anything. For the most part the contractor does allow for movement. Capstone doesn't seem to have many "bubble" problems on their homes like other home builders. > > Electrician-3 stars=A little sloppy in their work. Doesn't care for the finer details. Overall gets the job done. > > HVAC-4 stars=They care about their product. They do a good job. > > Cabinets-5 stars= They go above and beyond. If you have problems outside the Capstone Warranty they still stand behind their product and help you out. > > Tilers-1 star= Rushed. Poor layers that don't use spacers. Many chipped tiles. Don't take pride in their work. > > Flooring-3 stars= Decent. Carpet isn't the tightest. Products company offers are cheap off brands. Don't expect products to last. > > Plumber-4 stars= No issues. > > Drywallers-3 stars= Rushed. Poor install techniques around corners and headers. They don't have the most square and plumb walls and ceilings to work with. > > Painters-3 stars= Rushed. Overspray and cracking from prime coat. Most likely doesn't allow time to dry. Probably contractor rushed. Dirty and overused rollers. Missed areas. Cut in a little rough with paint on trim work. Nice guys and do seem to want to get the job done right. > > Landscape/Grading-2 stars= Basic overpriced package with no overall design. Soil seems to be poor probably from dug out basements and on-site spoils. Grading wasn't the greatest. Rough grade was acceptable by contractor. > > Capstone-2 stars= Unorganized. Typical contractor tactics. Little oversight of subs. Likes to cut corners. Products middle of the road. Found not to be honest nor honest pricing like they claim. Final walk through work and warranty work very slow. Slow getting back to you too. Decent warranty. > > Overall-2.5 stars= I wouldn't recommend the company unless you were in a dire pinch. Many of their own subs talk bad about company. There were many more headaches than successes. Overall their reputation doesn't seem to be good in community by locals.
