I will be removing a peninsula and putting a gas range in between two windows. There will be 2 sets of cupboards to the left of the left window when complete and a peninsula on that side of the kitchen. My question is, what do i put above the 30" gas range? Should i put a microwave? a hood fan? a covered hood fan? A range hood with cupboards above? There is ~55" between the two windows. The bulk head will be removed. On the second photo, the wall will be removed to open up to the family room. Any advice, all advice is appreciated! A: Whichever vent style you decide on ensure that it has the proper CFM's to remove the fumes/heat from the gas stove. OTR Microwaves usually do not have sufficient CMF's for a gas stove. If you speak to an appliance sales person they can certainly help you find the proper unit for the remodel. Good luck! **Q: Quartz sink cut out as cutting board** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are having quartz countertops on our island. They will be cutting out the prep sink, and I was wondering if I was entitled to that piece of quartz so that I could make a cutting board out of it to go over my sink with 1/2" reveal. Has anyone ever done this? A: The sink cut out is actually destroyed in the process more times then not. Some quartz companies give you 'cheese boards' from other cuts of the slab but typically never from the actual sink area itself. **Q: Love the stove** *(in Photo Questions)* Could you tell me the name brand. A: Our manufacture, Cuisine Ideale, builds the cabinets according to the drawings we send them. dsk Kitchens then install the cabinets and counter tops. **Q: Kitchen cabinets in basement apartment** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are in process of finishing our basement as rental apartment and needed some advise on Kitchen cabinet color. It's L-shape kitchen (7 by 10) and has low ceiling at few places (6 feet 5 inches at lowest point). Should we go with white or dark cabinets? Our contractor suggested that tenants can ruin white cabinets easily and will need more maintenance.. Looking forward to hear from you A: White cabinets in a basement apartment will brighten the space, but they do show more damage & general wear... have you considered perhaps doing a two tone? White on the uppers and a darker colour on the base? The base cabinets get the most wear&tear and this will ensure longevity/less maintenance, still some white cabinet to brighten the space and a modern look of the two tone? Good luck! **Q: Kitchen Cabinet Height for 12 foot ceilings** *(in Design Dilemma)* We have 12 foot ceilings, we are planning on doing a large crown molding at the ceiling and do not want the cabinets to go all the way up to the ceiling. What's the maximum height suggested?
