> This is our third painting project with All American Painting Plus. They are top notch, top-down! The estimate is thorough, the booking process is streamlined and easy, and the crew is extremely courteous, clean and efficient. Paperwork was easy to sign and submit, and the payment can be made easily through a smartphone. Stress-free: that's one of the main reasons why I keep on coming back to All American Painting Plus. Setting up the project and having the paint job done is so easy with them, because I trust their team, from the admin department to the folks on the front lines. The most stressful part was me finding the perfect paint color for my kids' rooms! The quality of their work is impressive. They smoothed away the uneven surfaces carefully, and made the walls look brand new. They didn't even have to unplug my Wi-Fi, and took care to put painter's tape on the Wi-Fi cables. Their work definitely adds value to our home. Big kudos to David, Jonathan, Orlando and the crew. We'll be sure to call them again.

**Comment from All American Painting Plus:**

> All American Painters Plus did an exceptional drywall repair and painting project for me. They were very careful with the repairs and painting prep, and performed the painting work quickly with a high degree of quality. Their work and cleanup were so good that the only indication that they were even here was the great paint work they left behind!

> I sought estimates from 5 companies. All American was not the least expensive but I went with them because I appreciated the completeness of the estimate and proposed work plan. I found the company very easy to work with - we had several email or phone discussions of whether to include painting the window frames, which areas of rotted wood needed to be replaced, etc. The crew arrived promptly, worked diligently and got the work done quickly. They protected the bushes - which were still very close to the house although I had had them cut back - minimally. Foreman Bayron was friendly, helpful, great to work with. I popped out of the house several times each day to observe, and was pleased every time. Cleanup was thorough.

> We are extremely satisfied with our recent interior painting project from All American Painting Plus. Sam visited our home to walk through the rooms we wanted painted and worked with us to clearly define the scope of the project. Once we signed the contract, the company worked with us to schedule the work around our schedule. Orlando and his crew did a great job both patching a lot of drywall nail pops, seams and cracks in our 20+ year old house. The new paint looks great and we feel like we're in a new home. Orlando and his crew were very professional and respectful of our home. Orlando quickly addressed any questions we had and followed through without us having to remind him. He and the team also addressed any touch-up areas that we noticed throughout the week. We will be sure to use them again in the future and highly recommend their services.

> We hired All American Painting Plus to paint and do some drywall repair on our master bathroom and master bedroom. Both rooms are generously sized with vaulted ceilings, and it seemed overwhelming for us to do on our won. Working with these guys, from scheduling an estimate to completion of the work was a streamlined process. They have been one of the nicest contractors we've had the pleasure to work with. Our estimator (Sam) was extremely courteous and prompt on providing the estimate. We had to reschedule the work a few times and every time they were incredibly accommodating. Jonathan (our scheduler) kept in touch before, during and after the work was performed just to check up on things. And anytime I called with any question or concern Michelle quickly forwarded the message to the person that could address it best. The crew that was sent to our home was extremely courteous, respectful of our property and all our belongings and did an excellent paint job. They also completed the work in 2 days as promised. These guys were not the cheapest, but I do believe they earned their money not just for a job well done but for the great care and professionalism that they gave from beginning to end. We highly recommend and will likely hire their services again. Thank you

> Orlando and his team did a great job. They did the entire interior of our home in 3 days. They showed up on time everyday and left at 5. They moved our stuff and put it back everyday so we were never inconvenienced at night. We also have an 8 month old baby and they planned their work around having his room ready every night for him to sleep in without paint fumes. Highly recommend!

Whichever way you turned in this house there was always 2-3 walls in different rooms in your line of sight. We came up with a plan that all walls which were in the line of sight of each other would be painted all the same color. Most rooms ended up having 3-4 colors but it worked amazingly well. ## Community Q&A

**Q: Hmmmm .... am I on the right track for exterior color?** *(in Paint)*

I am struggling to commit to a stain color for this house. I am trying to marry the stone, the garage doors, the trim and the roof and am struggling to make a commitment as I fear the end result!
Any thoughts, comments would be appreciated! Ideally, Sherwin Williams though can match to BM. Mountain setting, not suburbia! I thought I had landed on either SW Downing Earth or SW Habitat but now I am unsure!
Do I go a super neutral with the above stated colors or add in a gray blue/green vibe?
I feel like the Downing Earth has a gold/green coming through that I am not loving and the Habitat goes a little washed out with a really subtle pink tone as certain times....maybe I need to custom color somewhere in between or go back to the drawing board.
Lastly, I am converting these paint colors to stain color which SW can do but what I find is that when translated to a solid stain, the color shifts...more muted, flat and it throws the color a bit.
I will also be refreshing the timbers and plan on making the fascia a similar color to the timbers.

The above is photoshopped color on the siding and fascia - neutral

Also, photoshopped color on the siding and fascia - gray blue green

Roof is Owens Corning Driftwood. My stone and roof are not a good match so I am trying to marry them somehow!

Actual stain boards. Left is Downing Earth, right is Habitat Timber stain will be refreshed!

Downing Earth...although the strip above the stone is Habitat

Downing Earth above the stone (the trim piece to the left is Habitat) can you see that gold/green?? Habitat on the ground to the right of the stone.

A: First off, I really appreciate how much thought you've already put into this. You've considered things that many homeowners don't - roof color, heat absorption, light reflectance, brick, gutters, and how different lighting changes the appearance of paint throughout the day. Those details make a huge difference.
If this were one of our color consultation projects, I actually wouldn't try to fight the architecture. I'd lean into it.
The warm brick and chocolate brown roof are already doing a lot of the visual work, so I'd choose a warm greige, taupe, or mushroom-toned body color that complements those permanent elements rather than introducing another strong color. Then I'd simplify the trim instead of emphasizing every board.
Because your board-and-batten pattern naturally creates a lot of visual movement, reducing the contrast between the field color and the trim can make the house feel more cohesive without making it look flat. You don't necessarily have to paint everything exactly the same color, but keeping the trim within the same color family can soften those vertical stripes that you're not fond of.

I'd also lean toward gutters in an off-white, cream, or medium bronze/brown rather than bright white. Since they won't be painted later, choosing a color that blends with the fascia instead of standing out will help the roofline feel cleaner. One thing we've learned after helping homeowners with exterior color consultations is that the "perfect" color chip can look completely different once it's outside. Sun exposure, roof color, surrounding landscaping, and even neighboring homes all influence how a color is perceived. That's why we almost always recommend viewing large painted samples at different times of the day before making a final decision.
I'm with All American Painting Plus in Northern Virginia, and these are some of my favorite projects because exterior color isn't just about choosing a beautiful paint, it's about creating a palette that works with the home's architecture and the elements that aren't changing.
For what it's worth, I think your instincts are right to avoid a minty green if you're hesitant. A warm, earthy greige or muted olive with restrained trim contrast would likely age beautifully with your roof and brick while keeping the home comfortable and timeless for many years.

**Q: edgecomb gray with gray laundry cabinets** *(in Laundry Room)*

Does this match?

A: This reminds me of a color consultation we did for a homeowner who was trying to pair a warm wall color with cool gray cabinetry. They had narrowed it down to a few popular colors online, but once we started holding large samples next to the cabinets, the undertones became much more noticeable than they expected.
Looking at your photo, Edgecomb Gray appears to work nicely with your gray laundry cabinets because it's a warm greige rather than a cool gray. That warmth helps soften the contrast and can keep the space from feeling too stark or overly gray. It also looks like your cabinets have a deeper charcoal tone, which gives the room some nice depth while allowing the walls to stay light and inviting.
The one thing I'd recommend is viewing the sample at different times of day. Edgecomb Gray can shift depending on the lighting - it may appear warmer in natural daylight and a little more muted in the evening. Looking at it in morning, afternoon, and nighttime lighting will give you a much better idea of how it will feel once the entire room is painted.
I'm with All American Painting Plus in Northern Virginia, and this is one of the reasons we include a complimentary color consultation with our interior painting projects. Paint colors don't exist in isolation...they interact with cabinetry, flooring, countertops, lighting, and even the direction a room faces. Taking the time to evaluate all of those elements together often gives homeowners much more confidence in their final decision.
From what I can see in your photo, I think you're headed in a beautiful direction. I'd love to see the finished laundry room once it's complete!

**Q: Craft room paint colors?** *(in Polls)*

Anyone want to give an opinion on craft room paint colors? Im almost positive the rest of the house is Accessible Beige (and this background wall) and the trim is SW Pure White.

The room faces south and I want it to look a bit different from the rest of the house, be very neutral for working with color, and coordinate with the existing bathroom tiles. The carpet will be changing but I’m sure it’ll be something similar.

The colors by the door trim are what I‘m considering: Gossamer Veil (top), then Drift of Mist, then Pale Oak/Athena. The pictures are the same colors with lights on or off and either in direct light or not and chips by the bathroom floor.

I’d love to hear about other people’s studios/craft spaces as well!
Anyone

A: This question reminded me of a homeowner we worked with recently.
She had already picked out a bright white for her new craft room because it looked perfect on the paint chip. But when I visited her home, I noticed the room didn't get much natural light. We talked through how she planned to use the space...whether it would be for sewing, painting, or other creative projects, and what kind of feeling she wanted every time she walked in!
Together, we explored a few different options, testing samples on the wall and looking at them throughout the day. The color she ultimately chose wasn't the one she originally had in mind, but once it was on the walls, the room felt brighter, warmer, and much more inviting. She later told me it had become her favorite room in the house because it finally felt like a space that inspired her creativity. A warmer tone could work very well in your space too based on what you shared.
That's one of the reasons we include a complimentary color consultation with every interior painting project with All American Painting Plus. Choosing a paint color isn't just about what's trending - it's about finding the right color for your home's lighting, your lifestyle, and the way you want the space to feel. I'm based in Northern Virginia, so if anyone in the area is planning an interior painting project, we'd be happy to help guide you through the color selection process. And no matter where you live, I'd always recommend testing colors in your own space before making a final decision. It can make all the difference!

**Q: taupe vaulted ceiling with a brown wood trim** *(in Paint)*

I would love to know if a taupe vaulted ceiling with a creamy/peach colored walls with brown wood trim look good in this room

A: One thing that immediately stood out to me is the beautiful natural light and the vaulted ceiling. Those are two features I'd want to highlight rather than compete with.
If you're leaning toward a vintage-inspired look with green tones, I'd probably stay with soft, muted greens instead of anything overly saturated. Something in the sage or olive family tends to pair beautifully with warm wood floors and allows rugs, artwork, and furniture to become the focal point.
I'd also recommend keeping the ceiling a crisp, flat white. With the height you have, a lighter ceiling will continue reflecting light around the room and make the space feel even more open. Flat ceiling paint also does a great job minimizing the appearance of texture and imperfections.
One thing we often tell homeowners during color consultations is not to choose paint in isolation. Paint should support everything else in the room - your flooring, natural light, fireplace, furniture, and textiles all influence how a color will feel once it's on the wall.
I'm with All American Painting Plus in Northern Virginia, and helping homeowners through these decisions has become one of my favorite parts of our interior painting projects. We include a complimentary color consultation because sometimes moving just one shade warmer or cooler completely changes the way a room comes together.
From your photos, I think you're already headed in a great direction. Once you choose your new furniture, I think a soft green could really complement the warmth of your floors while giving you that timeless vintage feel you're after.
