I cook, bake, and entertain quite a bit, and wanted comfortable, attractive, but most importantly, truly functional spaces in which to work, live, and entertain. She worked well with the contractor, architect, and subs, recommended a few subs, assisted us in staying within our budget, checked in on the project when we were out of town, and provided is with updates. **Q: Granite or Quartz** *(in Photo Questions)*

I too would love to know the name of the material. My cabinets are in the process of being made and I need to make a decision on the counter top. I like the counter top used in this kitchen. I also love the flooring. Being in AZ I am hesitant to lay real wood, as we live surrounded by 5 ac of desert.

A: Hi Elizabeth, Thank you for your inquiry. The countertops are quartzite Nacarado from Cactus Enterprises. If you are fussy at all and mind scratches you probably do not want to put in this type of wood floor as it does show some scratches. You might want to consider a distressed wood that is more forgiving. There are also a lot of porcelain tile products that look like wood, although  they don't have the warmth of wood and  tile can be hard on your legs in the kitchen if you cook a lot. Good luck with your remodel!!

What is the wood?  Where might I get them?   Hardware?

A: Thank you for your interest! The wood is clear alder with a custom stain. The cabinets are custom through Lisa Gildar Interior Spaces. The hardware is Atlas Modern Avalon series.

**Q: Custom Stain mixture on cabinets** *(in Photo Questions)*

I am in love with these kitchen cabinets.  Could you please share the formula and proportions used in the custom cabinet stain?  Also, what is the material used in the cabinet inserts- glass?  Thank you so much for your help and the information.

A: Thank you for your inquiry! Regarding the stain on the cabinets I brought in a sample of wood for the cabinet shop to match. They did a "strike-off" matching it the best they could. Typically a custom shop will give you their best effort to match with a lighter variation, medium and darker option. I would suggest bringing in this photo to your shop and having them make up a sample. Every cabinet shop uses a different stain manufacturer and will have their own techniques. The wood species is clear alder (no knots). The sheen level is satin. Once you get the correct stain color the cabinet shop should be able to give you samples with different sheen levels (shiny, satin or matte). The inserts are back-painted glass. I selected a paint color to match the glass tile on the backsplash.  I hope this helps!

A: The countertop are Nacarado quartz. Not man-made such as Cesaerstone

A: Hi John, Thank you for your interest! This is a very special piece  I custom designed  and had made in Nepal. It is a combination of silk and wool. Since it is a custom piece you can have it made in any size or color combination. The lead time is approximately 7 months from submitting approved drawings.
