## Community Q&A

**Q: where are the outlets on the backsplash?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Did you put them low to the counter?  Or are they undercounter mounted?

A: They are tucked below the wall cabinets in a low-profile strip that can be mounted to the bottom of the cabinet and hidden by the light rail molding. This is a great way to not "ruin" a beautiful backsplash.

The microwave is a Monogram Advantium by GE, however I'm afraid they no longer make that specific model.

**Q: How much space is between the top of the cabinets and the ceiling** *(in Photo Questions)*

We have 9 ft ceilings. A 48” cabinet feels slightly too big so I’m considering a 46” height, which I believe would leave an 8” crown.  Some oversized crowns can look awkward. Yours is beautiful so I’m wondering the size! Thanks!!

A: Hi! The proportion of an 8" crown to a 46" cabinet is definitely not overkill, though a more standard height cabinet will be 45" with a 9" crown. This photo is showing at least a 12" space from the top of the cabinets to the ceiling as we were concealing existing plumbing in the bulkhead between the cabinets and the crown. I don't have the drawings in front of me, but I believe the crown itself is roughly 6' - 7" high (linear). Hope that helps!

I also live in DC metro area and looking to do something like this in my kitchen.

A: Hi Tim! This is a custom island using cabinets from Omega Cabinetry. The island was constructed on site by my carpenter based on the design that I created. I've had so many inquiries about this island that I'm considering selling the design docs for it :)
