A: Why not mount a flatscreen on the backside of that fireplace? 6 floor to ceiling window panels would soften the 3 windows on that wall opposite the TV location. The couch should be able to sit comfortably between the windows & the TV, with a nice area rug to define the "viewing" area. The window to the right of the FP could also easily have a console table below it which could house and hide all the media components. A nice table and chairs close to the doors would make a great breakfast nook / garden overlook area. **Q: From white flat panel cabinets to gorgeous gray shaker....** *(in Before & After)* This was a really fun project we completed. The home was absolutely beautiful in an upscale part of Atlanta. But then we walked into the kitchen and saw this white bland kitchen with absolutely NO character. It's been a while since I've posted anything on here because truthfully, our time has been focused on preparing for a new arrival in our family! With that said, we have slowly been preparing the nursery and I'm looking for your thoughts and suggestions for finishing touches to complete the space. Here is what we have done so far: We still need to get the mattress and bedding but this is what we were thinking of getting (not sure about the bumper or skirt): We are also converting this IKEA chair into a rocker with a swivel base: This is side table for the chair: We also have our window coverings (ivory panels with a black curtain rod), some slim wall mounted shelving to display some books and a lamp for either the dresser or side table. I was thinking of getting (or making my own) art like this for over the crib: And this mobile: I find the hardest part of decor is finding the finishing touches! Your ideas and suggestions are welcome. :-) A: You will definitely want a rest for your feet in front of the rocker! We never did floating shelves above someplace the baby would be laying down (changing table / bed /etc) JUST to be extra safe. Do you have room for a shelf like this mini open one in the picture? Baskets are very handy and can hide the small stuff!! Also the top of it is a good place to bring in some accent color accessories! **Q: Need input on the right backsplash for beach home** *(in Design Dilemma)* Finally I'm ready to put up the glass backsplash in this kitchen. I don't care for the existing cabinets but don't have it in my budget to replace them. The countertops are peacock green & those are staying as well. This is a beach house & has lots of windows & sunlight. The kitchen is small & already has beadboard on dining nook ceiling as well as boxed in plant ledges in kitchen. I'm looking at two things: adding white beadboard to cabinet side panels (4 spots) then adding white mosaic glass tile for backsplash (replacing the dark stone now on stove wall) OR using a sea foam 2x4 inch glass subway tile on top & bottom of white mosaic to bring out sea foam color in granite. ??? Picture were taken just before sunset. A: Two Words - Chalk. Paint. This is a beach house and can certainly stand a sense of whimsy and a splash of color. You already said you don't like the cabinets, and painting them would be the most dramatic - and probably cost effective - change you can make. It is also incredibly durable when done properly. We would love to see a white or a shade of turquoise on the cabinets and then a complimenting backsplash. That granite will look good with many shades of aqua or blue, but test some chips by it to see what you like best before painting the cabinets. Don't be afraid to MIX shades of blue and green throughout the space. Use each color on 2 - 3 different items in the kitchen (cabinets, accessories, furniture, tile, artwork, lighting, etc) Think of all the colors of blue in the ocean and how beautiful it looks when they come together! **Q: Front Porch Addition and New Paint** *(in Before & After)* This is a before and after of our home located in Atlanta. The project began February 2015 and completed June 2015. I asked for suggestions on paint color and wanted to share the final outcome. A: Fantastic!! We're an Atlanta firm, who did you work with? The finishes are very similar to mine, hence I would like to use this for inspiration. I was wondering if you could tell me more about the tile? Is it handmade? Who makes it? What color is the tile? Finally, what color/brand grout is used. This is perfection! Thanks. A: Sorry for the delay. This tile is one of our favorites!! It's Gramercy Park by Walker Zanger in "Bone China" - It's a handmade ceramic.
