We have a 1938 Tudor style home where we added on a significant first floor master suite, converted a garage stall into a first floor mud room accessible through the garage, opened up/remodeled the kitchen and refurbished the basement to accommodate a lounge area and an office/spare-bedroom concept . They were great thought partners here,  ensuring that we were able to build in the modern conveniences we desired while not losing the charm of a vintage home. Finally, the addition was very well designed by this team. We constantly receive compliments from neighbors and passers by on how it seems like the new portion was a part of the original home.

In updating the house, Mike Duket maximized our view of the river while retaining the historic character of the old house.  We made a small addition of a mud room, laundry room, two car garage and yoga studio.  He added a clerestory to provide light in the hall/stairs leading to the yoga studio.    What a spectacular touch!  He is a master of little details that "kicks the overall impression of the house up a notch".   We have a garage courtyard flanked by a 2 car and 3 car garage.  Mike added a curved mahogany door which elevates this common area.  We ended up with a revitalized old house ready for the next 100 years.

**Q: Do you prefer to use all wood cedar or veneer over steel?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Do you have a go-to garage door you prefer to use for this look? Are the all Western Cedar doors superior to the ones with cedar lined? Do you have a brand preference? I respect your opinion. Thank you.

A: The doors in the image are made by Designer Doors in River Falls Wisconsin.
These are authentic and insulated, but are rather pricey.  As an alternative Wayne Dalton has a number of options including a custom wood door.

Clopay has a decent series of steel carriage house doors that insulated but have a "faux wood" surface.  These are likely less expensive.

**Q: Question about the windows and guttering** *(in Photo Questions)*

Your work is beautiful.  Can you tell me what color are the windows please? Would it be similar to Pella Portobello? And is the trim painted similar or is that guttering? Thank you so much.

A: The gutters and downspouts are all copper.  I believe the windows were a bit darker than the Portobello, but close.   A darker warm grey color.  I don't have the data now, but it would be more important to make yours compatible with the color of your siding or masonry and environment.

A: Sorry, but we no longer have that information. I have seen similar fixtures online recently; it;s a popular style.

Windows and siding brand please.

A: Windows are standard commercial aluminum (Vista Wall), and the door opening is NanaWall.

**Q: love this house!  What kind of shingles were used for the roof?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The shingles were called Lamarite, and mfg by TAMKO.  I don't know if they are still available.  It is a composite material and was marketed as a simulated slate.  There are other options including thin slate products.

Just wonder what make the doors are

A: I believe (from memory) that these were from the American Rivers Collection by Raynor.  Another great door is Designer Doors Inc
