At FA Design Build, we focus on the Why. Why is it important to enhance your home? Why do you want to remodel? The Why defines your life and the place you call home. We work alongside you to discover your Why.

Our approach to understanding the Why turns the traditional remodeling approach upside down. Before measuring for cabinets, selecting a countertop, or choosing a floor, we focus on you and how you feel about the prospect of remodeling. We understand those feelings range from excitement to apprehension. By developing a full scope of work, we take guessing out of the process. Your wants and needs are identified and appreciated. > FA Design Build recently completed bathroom, closet, and recessed lighting renovations for us and we are very happy with their work. Our designer, Nate and Project Manager, Edwin worked closely with us throughout the project and kept us updated. They listened closely to what we wanted to accomplish, and the final result is quite stunning and exactly what we had hoped for. The work crew was very skilled, professional and friendly as well . We would gladly recommend FA Design Build.

> FA Design and Build is the worst design and build company I have ever dealt with. They are only about making money via change orders. They give you incorrect estimates which looks attractive in the beginning but later you keep paying them in constant change orders. The designer Melissa made many mistakes in the design of our kitchen remodel. The project manager Dylan is really useless, and a major overhead from cost perspective. His primary job as explained to us was to communicate and provide correct status to the customer and remove any hurdles. We had to really beg for status and communication from him and FA and then they would provide some half ass status. We as customer would find issues in the project and plan which this dude should have found as a project manager. If the customer starts managing the project then why the heck we need to pay for this guy. Then, FA sub contracted the work to this dude, Jose and we were told that this dude grew up in his profession as a plumber and he was responsible for water leaks in my home during the construction and neither FA nor this contractor wanted to take any responsibility of water leaks. Because of FA and this contractor we had to rip out our new floors and redo the floors again. We had to again shout and scream at them so that they would accept the fault that they caused the leak. This contractor and FA cheated us of $4000 for putting in plywood over subfloor even though it was not required and of course this was a change order and not part of the plan. I got another flooring company and asked them to do the other side of the house, because if I would have asked these people to do any other flooring work they would have charged at least 3 times more compared to the other flooring professional. The other flooring company did fantastic job without plywood or change orders on the other side of the home and charged 1/3 of these guys were charging. The big boss Robbie, calls himself the chief of operations for our project and his only job is to collect money. After he collected the last payment the big boss did not even have a simple courtesy to say "Thank you" on the phone. If this guy, who is supposed to be a leader in this company, is so uncouth, then just imagine how bad his subordinates are and how bad this company is. So as you can see they call themselves "Flooring America" and their flooring work sucks, they don't do proper design, they dont manage projects properly but they charge more than others for their contracts. Do not go to them for flooring or any other work. These people cannot be trusted with anything and they are never ever allowed near my home again.

**Comment from FA Design Build:**

> We’d like to thank for your feedback. We use all client comments as a way to improve our overall operations. We regret that we were not able to satisfy you during your remodel. However, I would like to address a few specific and inaccurate complaints you mentioned below. First, we installed the dishwasher in your home on Friday and no leaks were detected at the time of installation. You reached out to our Project Manager early Sunday evening explaining you had a water leak. We were able (after hours) to get a water mitigation team and a plumber out to your home that evening to investigate and clean up the leak. Urgency was our biggest priority at that point and our response time and acceptance of the issue indicated as much. In addition, we covered the cost to remove and replace the damaged hardwood from the water leak with no questions asked. Next, to claim you were cheated out of $4,000 for your subfloor repair is not an accurate statement at all. When the tile was removed in your home, we immediately notified you that the thinset was adhering to the subfloor and could not be removed. We presented multiple options to correct this (in order to allow us to install the new flooring). You elected to cover the damaged subfloor since it was the least expensive option. To reference the other flooring company installing floors in another portion of your home and not needing to install plywood under is not a fair comparison. If the subfloor was intact and not damaged, no plywood would be needed. We have been in business since 1979 and pride ourselves on our integrity and honesty and our client feedback shows that. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or frustration you experienced during your remodel.

> We can not praise this company enough. From the beginning of our project FA Design made it clear that our personal satisfaction was their number one priority. Stacey Peters and her team are consummate professionals who have such a personal touch that my wife and I never felt like our kitchen was just "another job" for them. Honestly, from our very first visit in their showroom till they were putting the finishing touches on our kitchen we felt cared for and taken care of by FA Design. I have zero reservations recommending FA Design to anyone.

**Comment from FA Design Build:**

> Peter & Cristina, we had a such a great time working with you two! It was our pleasure to design and install a remodeled kitchen that is enhancing your day-to-day living and making life in a busy household even better. Thanks for choosing us, The FA Design Build Team.

**★★★★★ — Steven Carter, Dec. 2019**

> We hired FA Design Build because they are a local, privately owned small business that provided exactly what we were looking for in a one-stop shopping renovation package. Over the last 18 months, FA Design Build renovated three (3) bathrooms, our kitchen and also refinished our entire hardwood flooring on the ground floor. Owner, Rob Menefee and his entire staff are "top to bottom professionals", who provide a wealth of knowledge, experience and guidance in the entire process from initial design to a turn key quality finish. More importantly, the entire staff are just as personal and family oriented as they are professionals. We consider their business as a personal relationship that is as lasting as their product. We are extremely proud and excited about our entire renovation project and highly recommend FA Design and their affordable quality services.

**Comment from FA Design Build:**

> Steve,
> We have thoroughly enjoyed our relationship with you over the years and are so pleased with each of your projects. We wish you and Liz much happiness in your new space. All the best, The FA Design Build Team

> This was my first experience with remodeling. My one bedroom, 5th floor condo was a total redo requiring complete gutting. FA Design Build helped every inch of the way, most importantly staying within budget. The team was exceptional at identifying additional storage possibilities, within budget fixtures, flooring, rugs, various upgrades even advising on paint colors. They handled all the required permits and inspections for the City of Alexandria and Condo Board. I was very impressed with the way the team removed all the old cabinets, sinks, counter tops, tubs, toilet and flooring. My neighbors commented on the professionalism of the team and team’s respect for the other residents. From beginning to end the team was helpful, accommodating, knowledgeable and eager to make this a positive experience.
> Without a doubt a 5 Star organization.

> Stacey Peters, Kevin Golden, and the entire FA Design Build Team were a pleasure to work with in a complete redesign/transformation of our Master and Hall Bathrooms. Their attention to detail, craftsmanship work, and client focused approach is superb. We highly recommend FA Design to friends and family. We will us their services for future projects as they are now a trusted partner and friends.

**Comment from FA Design Build:**

> Rich & Cindy,
> The wait was well worth it! Your two bathrooms are now not only unique and personal, but also more maintenance free. Your willingness to go beyond the same, safe palettes was refreshing, and it is a testament to your fun-loving nature. We're so happy we could work together. Hoping another project is on the horizon soon!

**★★★★ — Susan and Ken Blair, June 2019**

> We attended a presentation at FA Design Build to plan a kitchen remodeling project. We were impressed by the knowledge and commitment displayed by their staff and by the results and recommendations from their customers.
> Ours was a major kitchen remodel, including the relocation of appliances and the relocation of a load-bearing wall. In addition, we replaced flooring on the entire first level, replaced the foyer staircase and railings and remodeled the powder room. Stacey, our designer really listened to what we wanted to do and came up with a great design to achieve it. She quickly had a great sense of our style preferences and made excellent choices and suggestions for materials and design. Kevin was great to work with in the construction aspects of the design. He did a nice job of balancing the practical with the style and of explaining the technical aspects of the job to us. Jamie, our on site construction manager, and his crew were very dependable, communicative and easy to work with. They were responsive to our needs and schedules and took pride in their work.
> As with any construction project, there were a couple of snags along the way. The real test of a construction company is how they deal with these issues as they arise. FA Design Build addressed the issues promptly and made sure that we were completely satisfied with the results.

**Comment from FA Design Build:**

> Susan & Ken,
> It was such a joy to work with you both --- and to see your home transformed! The new layout, with the large kitchen island and the seamless connection to your family room, is so open and welcoming. We truly appreciated how thoughtfully you considered our design recommendations and valued our vision for your main level living space. It's a project we are so proud to share.

**★★★★★ — E May, Dec. 2018**

> Stacey, Jessica, and others at FADesign worked closely and patiently with me to capture exactly what I wanted my new kitchen to look like, including the difficult task of choosing the perfect combination for flooring, counter, and backsplash. They creatively and diligently resolved issues that arose during installation, and even issues that lingered after the project was complete. They took the time to include final touches I would not have thought of, like cabinet door stops and heavy duty pullout drawers. I definitely can say that the FADesign team takes pride in their projects and works hard to make their customers happy. As with any large scale project (and this was my first), make sure you review the design plans carefully -- especially electrical outlet/switch locations.

**Comment from FA Design Build:**

> Beth,
> We're so happy we could give you your perfect combination of flooring, countertop, backsplash, and cabinetry. Your new kitchen is just the right balance of beauty and serenity. We appreciated your attention to the details. Enjoy this lovely -- and functional -- space!

**★★★★★ — Ray Bednarsky, Dec. 2018**

> Master Bath Project
> After deciding to “Age-in-Place”, we received several estimates to renovate, our Master Bath, but none gave us confidence that we would achieve our vision. Then, a friend recommended that we attend FA Design Build’s presentation, meet their design and construction team, and discuss our project. Their process presentation was excellent, their team competent and professional, so we decided that we would benefit from their designer’s touch and professional contractor team. The design build team met at our home and listened while we told them what we wanted to achieve. They took notes, asked questions, made their assessment, and provided welcome suggestions.
> In two weeks, the team returned to present their design along with photos and specifications of suggested materials and products. They discussed options, and worked with us to select the products and materials we preferred that met our budget, while achieving our desired upscale “WOW” factor.
> FA Design Build offered a detailed, specific, contract which included everything we discussed, along with a reasonable down payment and progress payments. Their impressive high quality of workmanship and professionalism led us to request add-ons for installation of dining room and foyer wood flooring, new banisters and railings throughout, repair of family room wall and ceiling cracks, a kitchen pantry renovation, and a laundry room vanity.
> The on-site FA Design Build construction team consisted of an experienced project manager, a master carpenter, electrician, master tile setter, plumber, wall boarder, and flooring installer, who worked as a close-knit team with the designers to implement the project plan.
> We have achieved our goal of completing each project to our total satisfaction. Therefore, we take great pleasure in recommending the FA Design Build team to you without reservation, if like us, you are looking for quality, value, and satisfaction for your construction dollars.

**Comment from FA Design Build:**

> Mr. & Mrs. Bednarsky,
> Your remodeled master bath is among our favorites -- calm, sophisticated, and just the right amount of glitz. We wish you many years of bliss in this space!

**★★★★★ — Carol Jeffords, Dec. 2018**

> My relationship with FA Design Build began when I attended one of their free design and remodeling seminars, and culminated with a completely remodeled kitchen five months later. The design team was outstanding, very easy to work with and very focused on my needs and wants. The same professionalism was exhibited by the project manager and workers. I have a beautiful, unique kitchen that is the heart of my home. I have recommended this company to a number of friends and acquaintances, and will continue to do so.

**Comment from FA Design Build:**

> Carol,
> You are truly a special client, and now friend. It was so rewarding to transform your 1960s kitchen to the renovated space that you love so much! Thanks for choosing FA Design Build.

  - Description: To stay or to go? This is the question our clients are still pondering. Yet, as their youngest child heads off to college, they are ready to enjoy their new kitchen or feature it in a real estate listing. Since they were unsure of their plans, we decided a pull and replace renovation was the logical — and most economical—choice. - Description: Ensuring simplicity, tranquility, and an overall Zen atmosphere was the goal for this kitchen remodel. When the client purchased their mid-century home in Fairfax, the kitchen design did not reflect the home’s roots. Sleek lines and minimalism had been abandoned for raised panel cabinetry in a honey oak stain. For the new finishes, our design team introduced glass and metal along with painted and stained cabinetry in pale gray and deep espresso. The existing work triangle worked very well so the…

  - Description: Our client enjoys the convenience of condo living and the ideal location off 395 in Alexandria. Yet, the unit had not been updated since the building was constructed in the late 1970s. Aging cabinetry and countertops as well as worn-out vinyl flooring, carpet, and wallpaper showed the day-to-day living of more than 40 years. Our team completely gutted the unit down to the drywall and subfloor. Key upgrades include luxury vinyl plank throughout the unit; extending the cabinetry on the kitchen sin…

  - Description: Eventually things wear out – including bathrooms! Our clients had updated one of their three bathrooms, but the other two were still stuck in the 1960s, with small floor plans, vanities lacking storage, and poor lighting. They decided to tackle both of these bathroom renovations at once. For the master bath, we were able to take about four square feet from the master bedroom by reframing a wall and doorway. This additional space allowed us to convert a tub to a shower, add a hand shower, and ins…

  - Description: Our clients had enjoyed their home for more than 25 years, but little had changed during that time. They were ready for a full main level renovation. We started by working collaboratively to re-envision the kitchen space to ensure we achieved key goals: open sight lines to the eating area and family room; space for an island with seating; new locations for the range and refrigerator; and removal of an awkward pantry and unused desk. The redesigned space called for removing a load bearing wall to…

  - Description: For their lower level bath, the client was more focused on budget and practicality. The update did include replacing the tub with a shower, but the vanity, toilet, window, and door remained in their existing locations. The client was clear about needing a hand shower on a main level for easy bathing in case they could not navigate the stairs. With glass waterfall tile in the shower and vibrant blue paint on the walls, we ensured the renovation was still interesting and creative.

  - Description: Years of raising two sons took a toll on our clients’ hall bath. As we discussed their goals, it was clear they wanted to achieve a neutral palette, avoid child-like designs, and install durable materials. The result is a bright space that appeals to all ages. We installed a double vanity (Medallion Cabinetry, White Icing) with a quartz top (Cambria, Berwyn), porcelain tile for the floor and shower, and brushed nickel finishes throughout.

  - Description: After a leak prevented them from using their master bath shower, our clients welcomed the chance to elevate their builder-grade bathroom. From the start, we were impressed with their eagerness to consider unique selections. They were willing to think beyond the monotonous choices of gray, taupe, and white to create a space they loved! The result is a master bath that reflects their easy-going, fun personalities. While the overall footprint remained the same, we replaced the bulky, unused corner…

  - Description: An enormous jacuzzi tub dominated this master bathroom – a classic feature of the 1980s. After 30 years, our client no longer used the tub and wanted to repurpose the precious square footage for additional counter space, storage, and an enlarged shower. By removing the tub and relocating the vanity, we were able to add a pantry and enlarge the shower footprint. The clever his and her vanity arrangement allows the center window to become a design feature, and it provides additional storage as wel…

  - Description: Our clients considered a kitchen renovation for more than a decade before attending one of our remodeling and design seminars. Our approach gave them the confidence to move forward. Their existing kitchen was the typical U-shape, with a peninsula separating the kitchen from the eat-in area. Our team removed multiple interior walls to create one large space, with an 8’ island as the centerpiece. To ensure harmony, hardwood floor was added throughout. - Description: Our clients have lived in their Tysons Corner-area home since the 1980s. A small kitchen fire was just the spark they needed to embark on a complete kitchen renovation.
