**★★★★★ — Kelly Bambrough, Jan. 2017**

> AWESOME, Awesome bathroom!! We went from a small, cramped, outdated bathroom to a beautiful, glamorous true Master Bathroom and walk-in closet combo - all thanks for Doug at GETAdesign!! Would HIGHLY recommend this company!

> When we decided to build an addition on our home, I was hesitant to the idea of hiring an architect or designer. I did not think it would be necessary, since I thought my vision would suffice. Fortunately, I am well aware that I know less than I think, and eventually agreed to the recommendation. That’s when we lucked out and met Doug Leahy.
> Doug designed a beautiful and award winning room that we can’t say enough about, and we continue to get rave reviews from visitors. He did it in consideration of our budget and our input. The cool thing about Doug is that he is incredibly nice and fun to work with, he’s brings up all kinds of innovative ideas and he totally respects your input. He’s both detail oriented and visionary. After the initial drawing and our input, he came up with the perfect room. We then had him help us with our bathroom, which turned out to be another stunning room and now he has helped us with our master suite. It is so incredible that it was won awards. We simply can’t say enough about Doug. We just need to find another project so we can hire him again.

> Doug Leahy from GETAdesign is fantastic! He has done multiple projects for us, from a finished basement with a custom bar and custom cabinets and projector, to a custom laundry/mud room. For our mudroom, Doug's great ideas allowed us to maximize space in the room by changing the location of the washer and dryer and installing locker style cabinets for our children's school bags and coats. Doug listens to his clients and comes up with fantastic ideas and can put your vision on paper. All of the contractors Doug has recommended to us are also wonderful. It is not only a pleasure to work with Doug, he is professional, thorough and very talented.

**★★★★★ — Deborah Larsen, Feb. 2013**

> I love my quirky 1930 home. The front yard is in a historic district, the backyard overlooks Lake Michigan. After many years of dreaming of a renovation, I contacted Mr. Doug Leahy. He had helped design a thoughtful, open renovation to my fiance's Sears kit home that improved the functionality and respected the home's roots. The research I did on the Internet confirmed that he had a wonderful sense of proportion, balance, and creativity.

> Doug has an engaging, energetic, love of homes and how we live in them. Once he viewed the site, listened to my needs and hopes and measured everything, he proposed a beautiful, wide, welcoming, beachy-cool front porch. He amazes me with his ability to recall small, important details. We will break ground soon. Can't wait!

**★★★★★ — adriennekoz, Nov. 2012**

> Doug designed a few additions and renovations for my home. We have loved all of his ideas, we just added on a Master Bedroom Suite - it is so warm and modern at the same time. I love the layout. He did everything we asked and made some suggestions that reflected our style and flow of the room. Doug is super talented and easy to work with. Our builders said the same thing, we had questions during construction and he always quickly answered them. He has also stopped by to see progress. I can not recommend him enough.

  - Description: This unique home located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan was definitely a welcomed design challenge for a young design firm. The client wanted to save the existing 1950’s slab ranch, add upper and partial lower levels, all while creating a modern transitional prairie style home. The interior of the home has an open floor plan with clear site lines, yet still achieves defined spaces. This unique kitchen nicely defines the space of the kitchen from the adjacent eating area and open dining room. The…

  - Description: The Three Family Heirloom This project involved designing a ‘future heirloom’ summer retreat for three separate Michigan families. The project is on a boat-access-only island with unstable soils off a shipping channel in one of the Great Lakes. The clients requested a shared common space with private sleeping and bathing quarters that would be individually accessed. The concepts evolved into a ‘Nantucket style coastal cottage’ that is placed on raised piles for both increased views and structura…

  - Description: Bungalow to Tudor: The task at hand was taking a 1950’s bungalow back in time into a 1920’s Tudor, but with modern conveniences to house a family of six. The total interior transformation involved adding 1000 square feet; living space, new kitchen, bedrooms and a new finished lower level among many other things. The exterior of the home used the existing structure and proportions and added dramatic gables, new color scheme and refurbished brick from an old Detroit factory to completely and effic…

  - Description: Located in West Bloomfield Township, this existing home on Pine Lake was asking for an exterior remodel with updated garage and a new bird’s nest addition to have a devoted office space. The design was challenging meeting all the strict ordinances as well as working above an existing room with a cathedral ceiling and large pizza oven that client listed as a ‘must save.’ The solution was to borrow space from a closet upstairs to run a small stair case that would travel above the cathedral ceiling…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Couches** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you tell me where the sofas and chairs are from?

A: I am sorry the homeowner selected and we approved. It was many years ago but think they might have been from Room and Board. Hope this helps.

**Q: floor plan problems** *(in Design Dilemma)*

working with architect,15000 in, and still not happy with floorplan. tricky house. 4 kids. looking for fresh eyes.

A: I agree with Malty Design. Be blunt, be honest. Designers should have thick skin. Remember it is your home and should function for your life not for someone's portfolio. Post a pic of the floor plan. I have done many plans for large families...on the board right now designs for 4 kids, 7 kids and 16 kids (yes, 16). Post pic and good advice will come...or should.

**Q: How big is the island?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The island in this picture is 5'-2" by 9'-2". I always try to keep the island slabs under 120" when possible to avoid seams. Hope this helps!!! Let me know if you have anymore questions.

**Q: Cabinetry** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where can I find this cabinetry? What is the manufacturer, wood, color?

A: These are a full overlay laminate / veneer cabinet with no panels. I believe the color was espresso. I am sorry to don't have a record of the brand of cabinet. Thanks!

**Q: Is this house on Wolverine Lake?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I have done a couple homes on the lake. We originally were going to do a major renovation to the property in the picture but, after cost analysis it was determined to be a better plan to start new. End result is a custom home that fits your needs and a realistic budget. You can email me directly at Doug@GETAdesign.net if you have more questions,

**Q: Wall Paint Color** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love this look.
Please share details of what wall color was used here?

A: This project was done 5+ years ago so we don't have the records but, if my memory is correct the walls are Sherwin-Williams SW6119 Antique White. Please test first - I am not 100% sure. Best of luck!
