Between COVID and being so far away, Brandon kept a seamless line of communication between us and everyone involved with the project. The home burned 50%, which left us in a difficult situation. I interviewed 6 contractors and Brandon was the only one with a positive attitude to take the project on. > > Brandon built us a new home and addition on the old foundation and floor joists. Brandon and his team did a great job during the complicated demolition phase. Several of the walls we able to be salvaged, Dunkirken Homes put all that parts back together again seamlessly. > > The other element that made this challenging was dealing with the insurance company. We had good insurance but the process is always messy. Duinkirken Homes created estimates and detailed invoices along the way so that I was able to submit for reimbursement. The insurance sent independent inspectors and Brandon’s crew passed with flying colors. > > Our house is in the city, which means all permitting, had to go through the city inspection process. Because we were in a unique situation Brandon arranged a meeting with the city’s head inspector so that everyone was on the same page. The only hiccup was a last minute rule change from the city. We hired Brandon and his crew to come in and remodel a basement room into a bedroom, office, relocate the laundry room, and turn a 1/2 bath into a full master bath. > > After speaking with a few contractors, Brandon was the most personable out of the bunch, and had the additional benefit of being a neighbor of mine, unbeknownst to me prior to selecting him. Speaking with about the details of the project was simple, Brandon was ultimately not a salesman, but knew his customer and gave a true Good/Better/Best scenario for everything, which is a great. Other contractors tried to push me in directions out of my budget, while Brandon was mindful and respectful of these facts, and provided appropriate suggestions for the work we had in mind. > > The process was excellent, his crew was awesome to have around the house, taught me a bit in the process, and gave me the confidence to not be scared of renovations, and home structures. Since I got to watch the process, I have been more confident in pursuing improvement projects around the house with my newly gained knowledge of interior structure. The drawings for your addition were just completed on August 18th, which is less than a month ago. You said your budget was $50k and when we did the first bid, the pricing for the project came in at $79k. You were unhappy with that pricing and said you had another contractor that was lower. You then submitted over $100k in additional items to be priced out literally five business days ago. As discussed, we submitted those to our subcontractors for the price changes. What are your expectations? It has been 5 business days! We are sorry that we cannot accomodate your price point or time frame, as we are a small company with a family and chose to keep it that way, which is why you originally liked us. It is so unfortunate and disappointing and just hurtful that you have written this on here.
