> Really loved the step by step DIY project of Building an Ottoman out of a Shipping Pallet! I immediately felt I could do this by the instructions Shelly provided, so I went out and found pallets that were donated to me and began my experiment of building my first ottoman! I chose an idea of my own for fabric, legs, etc......and the response has been incredible! I am now building these and selling them and have also been asked to re-upholster furniture for people who have been referred to me! Thank you Shelly for your idea and your inspiration!!

  - Description: Upholstery repair can be a lucrative facet to an upholstery or interior design business. The right person will have upholstery skills, as well as problem solving abilities. With that said, let's get on with a furniture repair, or restyle, that can be accomplished by anyone who's long on patience and who works carefully and methodically. I rigged this project by going in and removing one of the buttons that comprised a diamond tuft so that you can see exactly how to replace missing buttons, or un…

  - Description: Out in the garage, under a big pile of foam I found my little shabby white dresser table I used years ago in our first house. With knobs missing and a disgusting coat of dirt, I welcomed the challenge to move it more towards industrial chic, rather than shabby chic. The only tools I needed were a hammer, flat head screwdriver, scissors and a leather punch from my local craft store. Shiny silvery bolts, nuts and two lavender belts from the thrift shop turned this tired little white dresser into a…

  - Description: In my DIY experience, if a project looks like it was hastily whipped up at summer camp, rather than following a somewhat well thought out plan, it's likely to end up over in a heap of impulsively concocted flops. Those are time and money wasters. In order to create a handmade furnishing that will be worthy of showing off, set your sights high. That doesn’t mean complicated, it just means simple, clever, unusual and well executed design. Additionally, as long as you’re dipping your toe into the w…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Why is there a hole cut in the top of the globe?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: @Linda Richelson These globes were recycled from over our kitchen table. They were hanging globes. The hole was cut to fit between the light socket and the little flange that screws up against the socket. The top holes are not necessary for the outdoor lights. In the garden, the top holes just let more radiate through, and they weren't that noticeable. However, if you were just making them for garden posts, you would not need those top holes. Thanks for asking.

**Q: Paint color?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I don't remember. It's just a medium gray from Lowes. I've had gray on every wall in my house for over ten years. Time for a change.

**Q: Are the tips of the legs dipped in paint, what color was used?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I spray painted the tips a metallic silver.

**Q: Where do I find this wallpaper?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: It's painted using a stencil! So inexpensive, yet huge impact.

**Q: pallet ottaman** *(in Photo Questions)*

I had a question. I have these brand new pallets and i want to make an ottaman. my question is do you cut the legs off the pallet? I've been trying to find a how to but it seems all of them are not clear from start to finish. Please help!

A: What do you mean by 'legs'?

**Q: Brightness of light** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love this idea. I've tried it myself but just wonder how it is that you're able to get such a bright light from your solar light. All the ones I've tried have only 1 led. It just doesn't give enough light to shine threw the lamp shade. I can't find any with 2 or more led's that will fit my lamp.

A: It's not super bright, but bright enough to light up a table top.
