INTERIOR DESIGN \| WALLPAPER \| STYLING SERVICES:
Specializing in the use of color + pattern for contemporary looks with timeless and eclectic accents. Design services for real people and real homes, from new construction to one-room updates. With years of experience in various design fields in art, retail, print work, and interiors, Allie enjoys using her eye to collaborate with her clients to create unique, comfortable, interesting and beautiful projects for homes, events, and installations.

After many years in San Francisco, I am excited to bring my creative eye and unique designs to New England that showcase my casual and eclectic sense of style with functionality at the forefront. I believe Design is a huge swirling realm of life, open to every one and full of potential to bring beauty, calm, comfort and stimulation to us all. If you see the world through the lenses of space, color, light and texture, Design is all around us. It is important, influential, giving and personal.

No stranger to the smell of saw dust and the clap of subfloor footsteps, walking a job-site is my favorite part of what I do (and a lot of how I grew up!)...not because every project has to start from scratch, but because the process, effort and talent that a team of people put into such a project, is extraordinary and fills me with awe every time. I have an eagle eye for detail and tiny design decisions. Put together, they make up a whole bedroom, family kitchen...an entire house! Walking the path to create a home for yourself and/or your family can be a winding journey. I can help in that process.

\- AS AND INTERIOR DESIGNER, I look to create contemporary, functional, and colorful interiors full of energy and beauty, while allowing for each home owners' taste and personal style to shine through.

\- AS A WALLPAPER HANGER, I continue to learn this meticulous craft but bring years of bookbinding, skilled craftsmanship and a professionally trained eye to each project, having trained with extraordinarily talented hangers, some of the best in the industry.

\- AS A STYLIST, I meticulously gather, edit, and compose any array of accessories, products, or objects for various creative uses and venues and particularly excel at creating beautiful still-life interior scapes.

\- AND AS AN ARTIST, I continually look to learn new skills, mediums, and gather artistic experience with great respect for the process, focusing on pattern, color, and texture in my own work.

> Allie did an amazing job with our wallpaper and curtains! She helped us choose beautiful and unique patterns that really suit the different styles in our house. Everything looks great, and in addition, Allie is great to work with--really understood what we needed, easy to communicate with, a total professional.

**★★★★★ — Jennifer Reynolds-Kaye, Feb. 2024**

> Allie is a creative and collaborative partner who helped me with the interior design of our first home. From helping to select the overall theme, color palette, and patterns to installing wallpaper and coordinating deliveries, she was absolutely amazing. She did a great job keeping us organized with Pinterest boards and went above and beyond to make sure the project turned out great.

**★★★★★ — Mark Oppenheimer, May 2019**

> Allie sourced everything for our power room for us: sconces, overhead light, vanity, mirror, and a delightful wallpaper. She hung the paper herself and brought in a great contractor to do the rest. We have loved the new room every minute since. She is a total pro, not only a great eye but a consummate pleasure to deal with.

**Comment from Studio Allie:**

> Thank you very much Mark. Your fun selection of paper packs a punch! It was a satisfying transformation!

**★★★★★ — Terry Blackhawk, May 2019**

> In addition to Allie's great eye and sense of color and design, she is a very intuitive communicator. She listens well, and it was fun working with her to reach decisions. After she helped me pick out the best possible wall paper for my dining room and did an excellent job installing it, we moved on to cornices and solar shades for the living/dining room area. I couldn't be happier!

**Comment from Studio Allie:**

> Thank you so much Terry! The results are so pretty..and what a pleasure working with you as well as your stunning art collection!

**★★★★★ — Julie Messina, Jan. 2019**

> We hired Allie to wallpaper our downstairs powder room project. After brief consultation with her on the project. we changed our initial wallpaper selection thoughts due to her ability to suggest some fabulous ideas. She totally found us the unique by the water look based on understanding our style and coordinating with our other home renovations and themes. She was timely in scheduling the work, great work ethic meticulous attention to detail on the hanging and was super pleasant to engage with. I plan to use Allie again shortly to help design my walk in closet renovation and design services for other home decorating such as shade and curtain selections.

**Comment from Studio Allie:**

> Thank you very much Julie! It was such a pleasure working for you and in your home. And the results are show stopping!

**★★★★★ — Kim O, March 2018**

> Allie has helped me with two MAJOR renovation projects - my kitchen and my bathrooms (3 bathrooms). She's also helped me with smaller ones like selecting paint colors and refreshing my living/dining furniture layout. In both cases, she pushed my thinking while integrating my style and tastes and helped me create a style that's classic, clean, and vibrant. I know without Allie my finished product would look a lot different. She brings a fantastic eye for everything from paint, to light fixtures, to cabinet pulls and is able to help you consider how every decisions fits within the rest of your space. She also know the best places to source materials and furniture - balancing price and style. Allie is my go to for all my home design decisions! Plus, she's just plain fun to work with!

**Comment from Studio Allie:**

> Thank you very much Kim! I have had so much fun working on your home over the years and think all the hard work you have put in has made the most beautiful family home thrive. Your ability to problem solve and run with my ideas has been a delight to work with. Thank you for all these opportunities to assist you!

**★★★★★ — Jamie Ross, Feb. 2018**

> Allie has been great to work with! I live quite a distance from her, and she managed the design work remotely with absolute patience and creativity. My husband and I are newlyweds, and Allie helped us navigate the tricky process of deciding what to keep and what to discard in order to create a cohesive style that both my husband and I would feel at home with. Taking into account our existing belongings and styles, she also encouraged us to step outside our comfort zone a bit and with fantastic results. She provided help with everything from choosing paint colors and silverware to designing built-in bookcases and floor plans. Allie is personable, professional, and absolutely skilled in helping create a home that reflects your style and needs.

**Comment from Studio Allie:**

> Thank you so very much Jamie! It has been such a pleasure working with you:)

**★★★★★ — Jennifer Sever, Oct. 2017**

> I have worked with Allie twice and both times were amazing. We worked together on a small design project for my first apartment in SF and later on a complete gut remodel of my NYC apartment and the results were nothing short of simply amazing. It's rare to look around an apartment and love every choice made from kitchen cabinets, tiles, custom floor stain, lighting fixtures and furniture. I would highly recommend Allie!

**Comment from Studio Allie:**

> Thank you so much Jen! I can hardly put into words what working with you has meant to me over the years and now on THREE projects! You are a design force yourself and it has been a privilege to work with you on your homes.

**★★★★★ — Erin MacLeod, July 2017**

> Allie has an incredible eye for patterns and has helped pull together several rooms for us, from designing rooms from scratch (tile, paint, fixtures) to fixing smaller design challenges (kids playroom). What I really like is that Allie takes the time to let my style shine through, so each room fits us. We've worked near and long distance with her. She is also very patient with indecisive clients!

**★★★★ — susanrubino8, May 2017**

> Allie did a wonderful job renovating my bathroom with her husband Reinaldo. She was fun to work with a provided a fun perspective. I love the combination of colors she helped me to choose.

**★★★★★ — greeleyc, May 2017**

> Allie is wonderful, easy to work with very talented. She provided some great ideas and worked within our budget, she made a huge difference in our home. Thanks Allie!

- [Details of Remodel](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/details-of-remodel-pj-vj~6731005)
 - Location: New Haven, CT
 - Photos: 9
 - Description: These images her are some of my favorite details of finishes, decor and the coming together of textures and colors for this project. This house was a full remodel, but the intention was to make it feel timeless despite the new materials and goods. With small original details either salvaged or depicted in new version of old items, these details made this house feel old but new, peaceful and cohesive. The simplicity and spareness were key to its success. It was an aesthetically dreamy project! On…

 - Location: Groton, CT
 - Photos: 47
 - Description: A full scaled project, this home was a designer's delight, with needs of specification from the profile of the houses' millwork to each fabric pillow and everything in between. Three levels, two kitchens, five bathrooms and 26 paint colors provided an array of surface design, textures and meeting of materials. Particular attention was spent on customized areas, like a second level spa room, built-in furniture, panelling through out, and details that kept the various spaces continuous as well as…

 - Location: San Francisco, CA
 - Photos: 17
 - Description: A classic San Franciscan Bernal Heights family home needed the addition of a master bathroom as well as updates to the central second floor bathroom, now for the kids, and the much used powder room off the kitchen. All bathrooms took on a vintage feel, using black, white, green greys and beautiful warm wood tones. Fixtures took on a midcentury feel with simple clean lines and modern shapes. This was a substantial remodel due to the tricky compact addition of a whole new bathroom into the exiting…

 - Location: New York, NY
 - Photos: 29
 - Description: This project was a full remodel of a dated Chelsea one-bedroom, that had last been touched in the 80's. Remodel elements focused on NYC-typical maximization of available storage space, maximization of living area and hand-made finishes and high-end appliances to make the greatest impact in this economized space. Key decisions included the removal of walls to open up the galley kitchen to receive natural light and provide peninsula seating, as well as wall removal of duplicate closets to add a di…
- [Bernal Heights: Ellsworth Bathroom](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/bernal-heights-ellsworth-bathroom-pj-vj~2484045)
 - Location: San Francisco, CA
 - Photos: 16
 - Description: A small scale, much needed main level new construction bathroom of just 20 sq ft, still feels airy and fresh, with floating vanity, tankless toilet and simple, classic materials. In addition, clever uses of old 12x12 tiles for threshold and sill, affordable subway tile, a hint of fancy Carrera mosaic tile as accent, wallpaper, and last but not least, a stunning mirror, made this project doable without compromising on style.
- [Leesburg Residence: One Room Update](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/leesburg-residence-one-room-update-pj-vj~2487851)
 - Location: Leesburg, VA
 - Photos: 5
 - Description: This project was a remotely executed update of a single room for a couple needing an adult space to entertain and relax, that felt new, cherry and clean. I think we achieved that with accents, window coverings, and new paint, while still keeping all the more expensive items of large furniture. I removed a chair rail to update the architecture and clearly took inspiration from the client's existing artwork, a really cool and dynamic piece that is now highlighted.
- [Castro Residence: One Room Update](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/castro-residence-one-room-update-pj-vj~2426330)
 - Location: San Francisco, CA
 - Photos: 8
 - Description: This home's previous owner had built a custom storage unit that obscured any nice sight-line to the main living area and created difficult orientation of furniture. While it was not easy to remove the fully wired built-in, it WAS worth it in the end, and completely opened up the space anew. The beautiful palette of this room was set by the the owners own lovely artwork...and we took it from there together.
- [Wallpaper Projects](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/wallpaper-projects-pj-vj~2488027)
 - Location: New Haven, CT
 - Photos: 51
 - Description: These are various images of wallpapering projects I have installed. There is nothing like wallpaper to change a room! And these days, there are so many stunning options. It doesn't have to cost too much and it makes a HUGE impact!
- [Styling + Still Life + Photography](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/styling-still-life-photography-pj-vj~2426303)
 - Location: Not specified
 - Photos: 29
 - Description: Collected here are various images that reflect my love for arrangement (in the highest sense of the meaning) for real life interiors or for presentations, styling (of my own projects and interiors or other media needs) and photography (and I am very picky about composition!) for myself and other print use. I have put these skills to use in many different ways over the years and simply never tire of making spaces look and feel approachable and welcoming or compelling in some way, as in still life…

## Community Q&A

**Q: is that tile under the wood piece?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is that lined image in the black on white a tile or wallpaper? Something else? Thank you!

A: Hi there! Thanks for your interest in my image. The black and white is a Schumacher wallpaper, yes.

**Q: Hi, big fan of your work and subscriber! Can you share the paint color on the wall? Thank you a million.** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi, big fan of your work and subscriber! Can you share the paint color on the wall? Thank you a million.

A: Hello Rob, Thank you for support of my work! The color used in this bathroom is Benjamin Moore, OC-20 Pale Oak. It is a great warm neutral that really adapts to various lighting very well.

**Q: Love everything about it. A couple more specific questions:** *(in Photo Questions)*

1\) What's the actual color and finish of the tile. Looks flat black but just confirming.
2\) What size are the hex tiles used in the shower?
4\) Subway tiles. Are they flat or beveled edges? Is the grout the same color silver as the hex tile?
3\) Is the hardware black or some shade of bronze?
4\) I can piece together my own materials from the above but if you have any specs/links on products you used I'd love to see them
Really great work here. Thanks so much!

A: Hello Kevin, thank you for your interest. The actual finish of tiles is nearly a full black, but not AS black as some tiles CAN be. It is a little matte, yes...it is NOT a glossy glaze. The hex main floor is a 6" and the shower hex is a 3" of the same matte black. the floor grout with black tiles is Laticrete \#88 Silver Shadow while the grout used with the white subway tiles is Laticrete \#42 Platinum. The hardware is a true black, not a bronze. while it takes away potential orders for me...;), I am happy to provide the vendor fo the hex tiles: The main spec here is Fireclay Tile out of San Francisco. They have incredible product and customer service. having said all that, I will make note that I designed this bathroom as well as two others, for same project, remotely! So, if you need help with your project, consultation or design, please call upon me. And thank you for the compliments. It was a wonderful project! Take care!

**Q: can you share the grout color used on the shower floor tile?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Thanks so much!

A: Hi there, thanks for your interest! This is Laticrete \#88 Silver Shadow, used with floor tiles both inside and outside shower.

**Q: How durable is the tile floor?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi there, thanks for your interest in this project. This floor is ceramic tile, like most any tile. So, it is very durable and will last decades :)

**Q: wallpaper?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where is this wallpaper from? and what is its name?

A: Hello! This wallpaper is by Cole + Son. It is called "cow parsley." Here is a link to this product: Cole & Son cow parsley wallpaper, black/white.
