Barbara Clayton Design was officially formed in 2004 but she has always had an eye for color and design. From her first apartment in college to her current home, she has been painting, planting and fluffing her way to a more stylish way of living. She believes a house that evolves with character is what makes the house a home. She enjoys working with a variety of looks and styles, frequently incorporating the old with the new. The client is always first and foremost. By listening, she gains perspective on their lifestyle, their wants, and their needs and together they come up with a plan that gently nudges the client to stretch their visions to a more beautiful and unique home.

> We are updating a number of finishes / areas on our main floor (kitchen counters, backsplash, carpet, entry tile, main bathroom, paint, curtains, art and styling, etc.).  I have been diligently studying and working on this project for a looong time, learning as I go, but haven't felt confident enough to move forward.  Desiring some more experienced advice, I looked at Houzz reviews for interior designers in my area.  After considering and interviewing a number of designers, and looking at their online portfolios, I asked Barbara to come do a consultation.  She was fabulous!  ...communicative, timely, a good listener, conscientious of cost but knowing when to suggest considering a higher quality product.  She was here 2 1/2 hours and we went through my long list my questions.  I have a much better picture of what I need to finish this project and I would have her come again!  I can highly recommend working with her!

> Working with Barbara and her staff is nothing short of an awesome experience!  We live in a 1937 bungalow / tudor.  The kitchen proposed some special challenges like so many older homes offer.  We worked with Barbara on the design of the kitchen, and came up with a plan that not only accommodated those special areas, but made them functional focal points.  The design process has been so fluid - Barbara really takes the time to listen to our ideas and needs, gently nudging us in a better direction when necessary, but making sure to incorporate our ideas.  I like to say that the kitchen reflects Barbara's design sensibilities combined with our aesthetic.  She has worked tirelessly - scouring her vendors at times - to find just the right fixtures and hardware to make our kitchen special.  And, if that wasn't enough, Barbara and her staff have handled all the contractors, making sure they are scheduled as needed, and keeping them on task.  For a seven week, complete gut of the kitchen, we are finishing ON TIME!  Finally, she has been extremely respectful of our budget, always reminding me when I suggest an upgrade.    I would recommend Barbara Clayton Design over and over again!

> Barbara had drapes made for 3 different rooms in our main house.  The fabrics were all rich and complemented my rooms.  The craftmanship on the drapes, lining and trim is excellent and she also did a great job picking out appropriate but fun rods and finials.  Barbara is very conscientious about the actual hanging of the drapes which made my rooms looked polished yet comfortable.
