Thought I was hiring Brad who communicated with me daily and presented an OPEN quote(mind you he touts upfront pricing and he wants to make this process easy for the client). Right after I informed Brad I was going to schedule with him, he started a hard push a week ahead of MY schedule. I reminded Brad I never discussed doing the work to start that week since I had not even selected tile yet. He told me he had another big job coming up. He started the following Tuesday with the understanding 5 days install schedule. First day, he showed up with his son and his young friend apprentice. First day tear out went well for a new shower tile install and frameless glass door. Day 2-5 was a grind and painful. I requested the tile NOT to be cut in my home because of dust and debris. They could cut at front porch a short distance from mstr.bath. as previous experience with tilers. No his son argued there is no dust! Well the entire bedroom was covered and every surface of the bath. Fortunately my husband had covered our white carpet with plastic but my furniture, bedding and every surface covered in dry grout dust! Day 2 -5 the son assisted by his 24 year apprentice did the install with Brad personally calling me to inform me of problems incurring. The lack of management was astounding. They left the site for lunch when the glass door estimator came out to measure. upon their leaving they told me the glass comanpy would be arriving in ten minutes then left for lunch. They did not articulate to him that shelves needed to be measured so he had to come back after we ended the installation. Then His son also failed to check the tile floor material upon pick up which was not what I ordered finding out at 4pm at the end of the third day, so the tile company had to rush delivery to my home but too late for installation! Pushed back another day after the son began installing the wrong tile. A cream linen cushion vanity chair 450$ under my counter out of sight, got hit with dirty tile water from the tile cutter which they found upon leaving on Saturday. For days 2-5 Brad did not do my tile installation but his 24 year old apprentice son did; Brad did not show up until Saturday after he told me the job would be finished on Monday due to his sons mistakes. I stated unacceptable then he tried to to say because we made his son leave at 6pm THAT hindered the job progress. His son worked one night until six and we had appointments scheduled that evening.. WE asked his son to end the workday. Brad did not like this and stated he job would take longer, yet the day the son installed the wrong floor tile he, left at four in the afternoon instead of waiting for the tile to arrive at 5pm. I did not contract for Brad's son . In fact not once did Brad imply his son would be doing the installation when I hired Brad for his 20 year experience. The reviews here were good which I also told Brad why I hired him. UNFORTUNATELY, the only truth of the reviews I received was the responsiveness to calls. I also hired Brad for his upfront quote which jumped 1200$!!!! when he showed up on Saturday stating he found a quicker drying cement so they could complete the job! I was livid with Brad in the way the process was going with his son, the failure to disclose Brad would not be doing the job. The fact careless mistakes were occurring on a short mutually agreed timeline. When Brad handed us the additional expense amounts he humbly said he tries to be honest but the padding of the bill was excessive. We agreed to part ways, that i would deal with the glass company. I blew up at Brad with my apologies, for his lack of disclosure, the disrespect for my home, the mistakes, and the carelessness of grout on my furniture and ceiling. He apologized humbly and profusely with the statement he doesn't know what to say....yet it was his company and his son creating the issues. He said this has NEVER happened like we are his one problem. Well if that is true, God help me when I wrote a check for the remaining balance of a 12K shower without a door. WE negotiated the price down for the damage of the chair 450$, he called a woman to clean up my master bedroom coated in grout dust, but overall 12K for shower tile. His quote initial quote was for 10,800K and I had lesser quotes. He informed me at the final bill the quote is not closed. Upon their departure, the door wasn't even ordered when I reached out to CSG then found out Brad and his son failed to tell Chattahoochee shelves were to be done so another estimate to come out. The door was eventually installed !200$ which is beautiful by Chattahoochee Shower Glass. The shelves not so good. The overall tile is uneven, in the niche the shelves installed by the glass company had to be installed at angles on one side then straight on the other because the tile was installed at angles. In hindsight, as you stand in the shower, the grout lines go from thin to thick grout lines very amateurish in installation. Tiles are uneven with some tiles chipped along their edge because of the poor tile cutting yet they were installed. I told Brad I never give reviews good or bad. However, after standing in the shower looking at the workmanship....I changed my mind. I wholeheartedly regret hiring from here on Houzz and I seriously will never believe again trust the reviews because Houzz has to approve these reviews. There no negative reviews! When remodeling a walk-in shower and tub surround, the tile installation was done professionally and with great care for details. In a master shower project, there is very little room for error, not only to prevent leaks or failures, but to also ensure that the infrastructure is sound and the walls are square and plumb, which is a prerequisite for the glass surround to ultimately be installed correctly. Tile Designs is reliable, efficient and does an excellent job of protecting the areas of the house surrounding the project as well as leaving the work site clean when the job is complete.
