He was instrumental in the success of our fire rebuild which, eventually, won an architectural award for green building. It was a difficult project, being my first as a (reluctant) owner/builder, but, in addition to his outstanding design, he was always available to help us throughout the process, especially when it came to working with engineers (both ours and in the planning department). Subcontractors too, including those who might be worried about new building systems or designs. David/Environmental Architecture is very strong when it comes to integrating functional design elements into overall aesthetics; i.e., with David, function is form and visa versa. Additionally, David is always ahead of the curve and unafraid to employ the best new building technologies while also able to keep his designs streamlined and simple. He's never pushy and seems a good listener when it comes to incorporating client ideas, which, in our case, also meant our budgetary concerns. Best of all, he's completely dedicated to his work and will do the research (and other legwork) to follow up on those ideas and any (and all) of his own. After 8+ years in our house (in all seasons of the year) it continues to impress us both aesthetically and in how it performs. All told, I cannot recommend David Goldman/Environmental Architecture more highly. **★★★★★ — Lisa Sinizer, Sept. 2017** > When we started our remodel project I began asking everyone who was building or remodeling who they recommended to design the remodel. One said everyone uses "X", so I spoke to "X". Wasn't totally happy but figured everyone knew what they were talking about. Loved a new house I saw on a bike ride and so stopped and asked who designed their home. Turns out it wasn't a new home, but a remodel and they were thrilled with the work. Well they were now. They had started with another designer, been unhappy and changed to David. I was even more impressed when I found out that this was an add on because you couldn't tell it wasn't a fully and organically designed complete home. As I left the owners parting words were oh and I should tell you who the original person was we weren't happy with… You guessed it "X". During the design portion of our project I also stopped at a series of houses on a street nearby because they were each unique and I liked each one of them. They ranged from traditional mountain "cabin" to modern sustainable. The designer? They were all David's. What impressed me the most was the range of designs he does, the range of mediums (cedar, stucco, concrete), how happy all of his customers were, his academic background and how easy it was to work through together during the entire project as we changed our minds several times about things. If I were to design another remodel or house, I wouldn't bother to look for a different architect. He is both a great architect and a great person to work with.
