Tile materials and judgment of workers deficient. Scratched tiles were installed on one floor and the workers made it worse by sanding. Some of the tiles had to be replaced, which meant removing the toilet again. Now, the toilet does not work as well as it did before the job had to be redone. Also, the new sink was chipped during the replacement of the bad tile. Not very impressive result for the price. Any tips or ideas for curb appeal would be GREATLY appreciated. A: I would start by planting rose bushes in front of the house to add a colorful threshold, then work on the pathway by adding texture with pebbles or bricks. **Q: Living room** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are having a Swiss coffee built in entertainment center made and we have a dark brown leather sectional what color tables end tables etc should we get? Can we still go dark wood? A: Do you have a photo of the living room area **Q: Need help with the fireplace area** *(in Design Dilemma)* The home is designed with 10 foot ceilings, crown molding and plantation shutters Part of our dilemma is deciding which design style to go to. We lean towards eclectic with contemporary and rustic. The house is somewhat more traditional than we would like. Currently the fireplace looks like a small dark hole, an afterthought. The TV was designed with a large, deep recess and cubby holes for components. The fireplace is gas burning and can be converted to wood burning. We are wanting to raise the fireplace if possible and give it more presence. We want to get rid of the stacked stone, but keep the crown molding. We have explored the idea of putting the tv over the fireplace or to the side, but we don't know what to do with the recessed right side of the fireplace. Thank you HOUZZ viewers for your input. A: What a beautiful space there is a lot of opportunity in the room to create your own style. The fireplace doesnt need much work I agree with adding a beam and I would also add rustic accents on the shelves such as pieces with bold textures. The light fixture is another piece that can be rustic and contemporary as well, you may want to reconsider having a fan if you have a/c and replace with a nice chandelier. **Q: Awkward skinny upper cabinets? Or am I overthinking this...** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are redoing our kitchen and I'm having a hard time with the exterior wall layout. The wall will have two windows, with a wall-space of 66 inches between the two. That's it on the wall. Our layout sort of demands that this 66" space will be where the stove is. We would like to put a 36" range there, but the dilemma is that this leaves about 15" tops on either side for uppers. I am concerned that the wall will look strange with predominantly windows, and then these scrawny little uppers next to the range hood. What would you all do? Thanks! A: Have you designed this kitchen using a digital program, sometimes exploring the space with a 3d rendering will give you a better idea. **Q: This bath is beautiful!!** *(in Photo Questions)* What color is on the walls? A: Thank you! This was actually a client selection which we dont have the details for, however it looks very similar to Academy Gray by Valspar, hope this helps! **Q: Incorporating Transitional Design into a Black/Brown Kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi all! First time homebuyer and first time Houzz user! The house we are buying has a lovely and newly redone kitchen, but I prefer a more transitional style. Since the kitchen is already nice and it's just a matter of preference, my fiancé is not going to make major renovations and painting the cabinets isn't and option. Looking for any ideas for paint colors and design recommendations that could brighten up the space with a transitional style, while still maintaining the black granite and dark cabinets. Thoughts? A: Beautiful kitchen! You have a great opportunity to incorporate a backsplash that can tie in the brown and gray tones.
