I am an expert in kitchen design-which includes cabinetry, material selection and space planning using CAD technology. I am professional allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers and hold a degree in Interior Design from Bellevue College. My design philosophy is to create beautiful and functional spaces in partnership with my clients. I view my role not only as a designer, but as an advocate, educator and project manager. Design development can be overwhelming to many people. My process is to break down the project into manageable steps. I find that it is much easier, as well as a lot more fun make decisions when there is a logical pattern to the process. I had an empty space that was small and empty and I needed it maximized while modernized. Laurie's ideas and visions were spectacular. She designed my space to the best maximization, made it homey, modern while setting a commercial design. Working with Laurie was a great education on design work and I can't say enough how spectacular she is! Her visions are creative and innovative, things I don't feel us average folks would ever think of. I will recommend Laurie to everyone I know! I didn't like what my architect had designed, so I had her redesign all the bathrooms and the kitchen, and then I bought all of my cabintry from her. My kitchen is absoluteley breath taking! I literally receive compliments from everyone who visits! My house plan did not allow for a pantry, and so she designed these cabinets that extend all the way to my 10' ceilings. They are very dramatic, and it solved my pantry problem. I wanted a unique kitchen that you wouldn't see anywhere else. > For my bathrooms she recommend lyptis cabinets, and that is what I ultimately choose. They are beautiful, and again I have that unique look that you don't find in every other house. I would highly recommend her. The color is "Dinner Party" by Benjamin Moore. **Q: Would you paint this fireplace white?** *(in Design Dilemma)* looking for advice before i take the plunge!!! and yes i am stuck with that awful white wood painted bookshelf and NO there is no brick behind there. A: My first inclination was to paint the brick, but after seeing the picture of the whitewashed brick posted by stylgrl I would defiantly choose the washed finish. It's really charming. I would agree that painting the ceiling is the way to go-even if you have to do it yourself. Can't wait to see the finished room. **Q: Love the countertop. Can you give me the details? The material is granite and the color is Colonial Cream. **Q: need help in kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)* here is my kitchen, a "u" shape, dining area right next to kitchen,which is 13x15'. i have a porcelain tile, serengeti slate by mannington. we ar.e not changing the cabinets,counters or floor. we need color ideas. the counter is laminate. as you see no back splash. theres plenty of recessed lighting, and under cabinet lights. its very hard to decide on color for our walls. we went to a paint store and tryed there idea of a darker gray, they said the other colors in the floor would pop. help A: Your cabinetry is a very beautiful color. Your cabinetry, because there is a lot of it and because it is at eye level, is the most dominant element of color in your space. With such a warm color my inclination would be to stay in the warm-neutral color range. Although the color you now have on the wall is beautiful it appears to have a cool base rather than a warm one. My suggestion would be to go to the warm neutral section of an on-line paint company like sherwin williams or benjamin moore and take a look at gray colors that have "taupe" in them. Yolo also has some nice colors called Stone. As far as adding green into the mix, I would look at a sage green.
