Dayna Katlin’s view that design enhances the “home-as-haven” philosophy has brought her a wide-ranging and loyal client roster. Dayna studied watercolor as well as pottery and ikebana before engaging in the UCLA Design Program that included color theory and space planning.  The combination of these disciplines provided a strong foundation for the launch of Dayna Katlin Interiors in 2006, where traditional sensibilities infused with a love of California’s casual comfort instantly became the firm’s hallmark. 

Dayna resides in a classic California ranch-style home (with a Connecticut bent) near Los Angeles, with her daughter, son, dog, and two Zen'ed out cats.

A: The stair risers are individual tiles.  Your tile contractor will be able to help you achieve this look.

**Q: the wallpaper is wonderful** *(in Photo Questions)*

what company makes the wallpaper? I'd like to buy it. is it removable?

A: It is from a company called Philip Jeffries but it is no longer available.  They have a lot of other beautiful vinyl papers.  No, it is not a peel and stick, it is a traditional application

Are they custom made? What brand, species of wood and finish is used? I would love to know. Thanks

A: I believe the cabinets are Alder.  They were originally much lighter, we stripped and stained them that dark walnut color. See photo!
They were a custom made and were in the house when my client purchased the house.  I also removed the center panels of all the cabinets on that wall and added linen sheers.  It lightened up the entire kitchen.  New hardware and lighting as well.

**Q: Shower wall material on right?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is that a shower through the glass to the right of the picture?  If so, what was used for that shower wall "v-groove plank" look?  I've been looking everywhere for something to clad the shower walls with that looks like v-groove and everyone thinks I'm crazy.  Haha!

A: Thanks for the question.  It is either 4 x 4 or 6 x 6 tiles......

A: Its a very dark brown, like a espresso.  It is actually darker in person than this shows
