**Q: Wood Panel and Window Species** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hello. I would like to know what kind of wood was used for the Window and Paneling.  It looks like maybe Walnut? Thank you.

A: It was Alder. It has a similar grain character. Typically knotty alder is used, but when specified as clear, it looks similar to walnut. In recent years, given its frequency of use as a walnut substitute it’s cost has risen substantially and not much different.

Where are they from?

A: Well, 14 years ago. Sarcastic I know but I don’t remember. I’ve always wanted to using varying sizes ball chains to create patterned screened openings

It is gorgeous!

A: As we tell everyone that asks us about colors used on a project in a photo, colors you see online are not necessarily as they appear in person. Lighting, gloss level, surrounding colors (review Josef Albers colors studies) and bounced light, light direction (N,S, E, W) if outside windows bring in natural light, photography adjustments and exposures all have an impact on the color you perceive in the photo. If you like the way something looks, use it as inspiration and look at paint swatches in your space (we don't finalize colors without being in the space) - and always put multiple samples on the wall especially whites. This project was completed a few years ago and the Benjamin Moore color specified was 2035-10 in a satin (thus the spread of the reflected white in its surfaces).

What are the dimensions of the sink? Thanks.

A: You should look into wall mounting your faucet, might help a lot. But look closely at the faucet projection.  Otherwise visit your local plumbing supply store or interior designer/architect.
