> Julia has consistently avoided costly mistakes in kitchen design in our home through numerous renovations and additions. Her eye for aesthetics, utility and functionality are incomparable. And she’s extraordinarily fun and pleasant to have around in what might otherwise be a stressful situation!!

> We got in touch with Julia for her recommendations pertaining to drawer dividers and cutlery inserts for our new kitchen. Her recommendations were superb and we are getting ready to implement them. Julia is communicative and attentive to details. Reach out to Julia with any challenges regarding the design of a future kitchen.

> Julia is knowledgeable and has great ideas. She is a fantastic cook herself and avails herself of the best technology and techniques. She knows the pros and cons of all the best brands and can efficiently put together a kitchen for experienced chefs. Also, she is accessible and great fun to work with. I highly recommend Julia to design a kitchen that will fit your needs.

> We can't say enough good things about Julia. She deserves more than five stars!
> She was the perfect fit for us; a warm and genuine person with an amazing knowledge of kitchen equipment and design.
> As we were downsizing from a large home to a condo and as a couple with a passion for food and travel; cooking and entertaining was a major part of our lifestyle.
>
> Most importantly, Julia had the ability to understand what we wanted and needed. No drama. no fanfare, she directed us in selecting an effiecent and well equipped space that would suit our everyday needs without breaking our budget.
> Her guidance gave us the perfect kichen for creating delightful and tasty treats that we can now share with our family and friends.
> Thank you Julia!

**★★★★★ — Billie Gaherty, Dec. 2022**

> Julia has been an absolute doll to work with. Her honesty and keen knowledge are constantly on display as she negotiates through the kitchen. I look forward to her designs and input for our next home that is under design now.
> Julia comes highly recommended.

**★★★★★ — Karen Escalera, Dec. 2022**

> Julia is a real pro at kitchen planning and design and a delight to work with. In addition to bringing her many years of experience to bear on the project, which is a major plus, she has a solid network of suppliers who know and respect her which also goes a long way. Plus, she loves what she does and it shows, with her always going the extra mile.

**Comment from Kitchens For Cooking:**

> I can’t wait to see the completed project. Can I bring the wine?

**★★★★★ — cracee, Dec. 2021**

> Julia is amazing!
>
> I was hesitant to use a kitchen designer as I didn’t feel my 1967 house was upscale enough to deserve a designer, but I was wrong. I had polled my friends & family for months on ideas to revitalize my small kitchen and finally decided to get professional help. I ruled out using a design done by a big box store since I wanted a different layout, and the helpful reviews on Houzz led me to Julia at Kitchens For Cooking. She came up with a design that completely blew my mind as it was not something that I ever considered. And this alone completely justified why people turn to professional designers!
>
> I then confessed to Julia that I had already purchased some pre-owned cabinets prior to hiring her for the design. I did not mention this at the start because I wanted to see what she would come up with without any limitations. She did not judge me for my lack of following the normal order of renovation (as my family had). Julia was up for the challenge of working these existing cabinet sizes into a configuration that could work in my space. She listened to my input and tweaked the design until perfect. She did an awesome job of maximizing the use of the cabinets. Julia is very knowledgeable about small space design and provided helpful recommendations for what features to look for when selecting sinks and appliances. I was very impressed by her patience and enthusiastic attitude when I threw her the curveball about using recycled cabinets. The communication was great and I found the price to be very reasonable.
>
> I recently moved and another kitchen renovation is needed, so my first call for help was to Julia because I was so pleased with her work. I will be using recycled cabinets again but this time working in coordination with Julia's design rather than after the cabinets have been purchased.
>
> I highly recommend Julia for any kind of kitchen design you may need. We all know the kitchen is the heart of the home and one of the biggest home renovations to tackle. Do not hesitate to get professional help - Julia’s expertise and skills will be worth every penny!

**Comment from Kitchens For Cooking:**

> Thank you for taking the time to write this long review. Working on kitchen \#2 now.

**★★★★★ — Nick Costa, Nov. 2021**

> I would highly recommend Julia. She came up with a great plan for the kitchen layout that not only more functional, it also gives us that open concept feel that we were looking for all while still giving us the storage space that we need. We are so excited about the new kitchen.

**Comment from Kitchens For Cooking:**

> Nick. I like the design too and can't wait to see it in person.

**★★★★★ — pbgator, Nov. 2021**

> We had architect drawings and just weren’t sure if the design was giving us the best use of our space. We called Julia who came to the house and made terrific suggestions. She gave solid feedback on the design and pointed us in the right direction with where to find different touches for the kitchen drawers, sink and other items that we had not thought of. Our kitchen will definitely be so much better because we brought her into the project. Thanks Julia!

**Comment from Kitchens For Cooking:**

> It was such a pleasure working with you. Keep in contact and let me know if I can assist in any other way.

**★★★★★ — alysthecat, Aug. 2021**

> Julia drafted kitchen designs for my home, as well as for my mom's house. She is very passionate about kitchens (and cooking) and is incredibly knowledgeable about layouts, appliances, and all the latest gadgets. In addition to being an excellent resource, Julia is warm and personable - a joy to work with. I'm grateful that I had an opportunity to benefit from her expertise!

**★★★★★ — Ayli G, June 2020**

> Julia was very professional, knowledgeable and knew how to correct a mayor oversight on my original kitchen floor plan. She’s kind (not pushy) easy to work with, communicative, and most importantly she knows her craft because she cooks! Her design was fresh and modern.

**Comment from Kitchens For Cooking:**

> Thanks Ayli. I look forward to seeing the project when it's done. In the interim, I'm here if you need me.

 - Description: This kitchen is owned by two great cooks: one professional and one very talented amateur. What they wanted was to turn this into the most functional space possible. It started with a trip to KBIS (the kitchen & bath industry show) where they discovered the amazing TurboChef oven and fell back in love with induction cooktops. The finished project has two sinks, both gas and induction cooktops, a SubZero refrigerator, a pull-out pantry, a large walk in pantry, and a drawer dishwasher. Downsview ca…

 - Location: Delray Beach, FL

 - Description: The kitchen had to be calming, promote healthy eating (see built-in steamer), and provide seating for the cook. We found a beautiful granite and used it 3 ways--a regular slab in the perimeter, live edged counter for the island, and (using the left-over segments of the granite) we made beveled-edge tiles for the backsplash. Subzero refrigerator, Wolf induction cooktop, steamer, convection oven and warming drawer.
- [Reuse and Reconfigure](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/reuse-and-reconfigure-pj-vj~82507)
 - Location: Boca Raton, FL
 - Photos: 1
 - Description: Normally it is not a great idea to reuse old cabinets when adding new countertops and appliances. BUT, this couple loved these 20+ year old cabinets and couldn't find anything they liked better after a 5 years search. Because they were extremely well-made cabinets, and because each cabinet with a metal frame allowed for us to reconfigure the doors and drawers, we were able to use the old cabinets in a new configuration.

 - Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL

 - Description: Some people don't care whether their kitchen has personality, let along whether it reflects their own personality. The owner of this kitchen is not one of those people. I became involved with this kitchen at the very end of the design process: what I call the tweaking phase. Her cabinetmaker had proposed a kitchen that was adequate but cookie-cutter and uninspired: the kitchen needed to live up to the rest of the house in terms of showcasing the owner's adventurous travels and artifacts. The new…

## Community Q&A

**Q: dimensions of vanity and each tower.** *(in Photo Questions)*

Were cabinets standard sizes or custom made?

A: Everything was custom, but I think the countertop columns were 12" not including fillers, and the end base cabinets were 15".

**Q: Does a separate room for the toilet in the master bathroom make sense?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi, we're constructing a new house, personally I think the idea of having a separate room for the toilet in the master bathroom is a great idea but it takes away design choices. My better half wants to do away with that completely to create more of a 'wow' effect, what do you think?

A: As a kitchen and bath designer, I think that if you have room and can afford it, you are crazy not to have a separate space (full wall and door) for the toilet. Why do you want a toilet in a luxury room where you shower and get ready?

**Q: Beautiful combinations - can you tell me the name of the granite?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Sorry, I just saw this question. It was a leather finish green jungle if I remember. But it was a very unique slab of the granite.

**Q: Dimensions** *(in Photo Questions)*

This is a great use of space. What are the dimensions?

A: The closet is 66" by 66".

**Q: Love the sconces! Could you tell me where I could purchase them?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Kichler Parker Point Wall Sconce.

**Q: stove** *(in Photo Questions)*

cost and dimensions?

A: In my area you are not allowed to put a pot filler over an electric cooktop. Surprised that it is allowed.
