Working with Steve was a refreshing change from other contractors we’ve worked with. He always showed up when he said he would and did what he said he would do. He plans and orders ahead of time so that all materials are available when it’s time to start – no down time waiting for supplies to show up. > His assistants, Omar and Vega, are also consistently dependable. Their work ethic is one of friendly respect for one another and the client. All three are perfectionists. My husband and I often joke that we ourselves could have done a better job than some of the people we’ve hired, but that wasn’t the case with SKS. > One of the elements of our design was a floor to ceiling stack of glass block. Steve admitted that he had never worked with glass block before and wasn’t crazy about it, but he did some research, studied the process, then devoted an entire Saturday to the task. The result was beautiful – and of course, perfectly rendered. > We are very happy with the new bathroom, and by working with SKS Design it was accomplished for about 25% less than other bidders. When Steve told me that the job was going to take 1/2 the amount of time as the next two contractors I spoke with, and that he would come in considerably less (based on the amount of time he thought it would take) I was a little skeptical. But I was referred to Steve by a good friend and client who had worked with him before and knew his quality was top notch. Well, I should not have had any concerns with anything. Steve did the job in less than half the time as the next guy, and for about $10,000 less. For a job that only totaled $14,000 total at the end of the day, this was a huge percentage less than the other guys. And, I didn't need to sacrifice on the quality one bit. Steve shows up when he says he will, works as hard (or harder) than he promises, and is so unbelievably fair with his prices you think he must have missed a line item when he charges you at the end of the job. I couldn't recommend him more highly and I won't bother making any more calls but one the next time I need work done on my place or I have a client that needs the same. Steve recently completed his 3rd project at my house, the master bath, and I love it as well as the kitchen, TV room, and powder room he remodeled in 2008. I always get compliments on his work from people who visit my home and everyone I’ve met who has worked with him was happy they did. Steve has a great eye for style and color and is a team player in remodel projects. He’s a good listener and willing to spend time upfront to understand client styles and preferences. Once he has a feel for what his customer likes, he is happy to share his opinions, offer suggestions and advice, and even participate in an occasional shopping trip to ensure project elements work together. And he will continue to offer suggestions and advice throughout the project. I’ll be forever grateful for the time he stopped a huge paint job and suggested I ‘reconsider’ the color I had picked. He was right. My color was not a good fit and I’m so happy with the color he suggested.
