> TLC broke our sprinkler system last fall blowing it out and now have not answered our numerous email inquiries or phone calls. Can't leave a voicemail as the mailbox is full either.
>
> Update\*\* They finally got a hold of us basically only because of this negative review, asked us to take it down and that they would come take a look at it on Monday. They then proceeded to not show up on Monday and ghosted us again. Have called, left voicemails (finally able to) and texted multiple times. Nothing. It’s going to cost us a lot of money to fix what they broke and our yard is dying as we are out of state and it’s not our tenants responsibility to hand water the grass.
>
> Edit Two\*\* After not hearing anything for a week and a half, we randomly got a call from a tech 10 minutes away from our house coming to look at the sprinkler system. Even though again, they are the ones who broke the system last fall, Todd (the owner), continued to blame everything he could come up with instead of taking responsibility for his company’s actions. He then straight up lied to us, said there was a leak when they turned the system on and they were going to have to dig it up and replace multiple valves, stating the bill was $900. When we calmly asked for details he threw a fit and hung up on us. We called the tech back and confirmed that he could not get the water running at all, there had been no water on at any point while he was there. So how was the pipe leaking when the water was turned on, if the water had never actually been on in the first place? Todd is not answering any of our phone calls and you can’t leave a message, as the mailbox is full. We will be getting the state attorney generals office involved and we suggest you steer far away from this company.

> I hired Todd to do take care of some neglected irrigation and landscape changes I wanted to make. He responded in a timely manner and we negotiated a project plan to work within my budget. His crew is young but passionate about their work, compassionate and hard working. Andrew, Megan, Sydney, Connor and Phil were all awesome in their on ways and I appreciate all of their efforts. The project had some problems and snags but what doesn't these days. I'm glad I got the work done, it all looks much nicer and will take a lot less water and maintenance. Thank you Todd & TLC Landscape

> I hired TLC to prepare an area in my yard for a shed. They used a skidster to do the work and to bring gravel to the excavation site. Unfortunately, they failed to take due care to avoid lawn and patio damage as they continuously crossed my yard from the street. Todd, the owner, was out of the country and his foreman, left early in the afternoon as work continued, leaving the contracted workers completing the work unsupervised. Afterwards, I requested that the damage to my yard and patio be repaired. TLC REFUSED to make these repairs and now I have a damaged patio and ruts across my lawn. Therefore, I would definitely NOT recommend TLC for your landscaping needs.

> I hired Todd and TLC Landscaping to redo my entire backyard including hardscape, pergola, turf, water feature and planting new trees, flowers, bushes, etc. They began the project in February 2020 and was near complete by May 2020. I paid them half of a very large sum of money as the deposit, with the remainder due on completion. There were issues with the polymeric sand in the hardscape from the beginning. They replaced it entirely once and still every time it got wet (rain, hose, etc) the sand would come out of the joints leaving holes and cracks. Todd called the project "complete" in May 2020 and requested that I pay the balance on the project. I explained that I didn't feel like the project was complete given the ongoing issues with the sand and said I was hesitant to pay until it was resolved. Todd asked if I didn't trust them to "get it right", and up to this point the work had been excellent and he had been responsive and so I, stupidly, paid him the balance. Through the rest of summer 2020 they were out to "fix" different spots on the patio 5 times. Jason, Todd's employee who had done the installation and the repairs, suggested that the current sand should be removed and replace with a different brand because we were having so much trouble. Todd, despite never personally coming to inspect, did not think this was a good solution. In Fall 2020, Todd finally came out with a rep from the sand manufacturer and recommended that the areas be "fixed" in the same way that had failed 5 time previously. I asked him why he thought it would work differently this time, to which he had no answer. March 2020 I contacted Todd to let him know that the patio had fared very poorly through the winter and now the sand was cracked and pitted out on about 50% of the patio. He sent Jason out to patch it again, I expressed my frustration to Jason who, again, said he felt like the sand needed to be removed entirely and replaced. Once again, this patch failed and I contacted Todd to insist that we proceed with Jason's recommendation. Getting a hold of Todd at this point was near impossible. He wouldn't answer texts, phone calls or emails. The only way I could reach him was by calling from a number that he did not recognize as mine. Eventually, he said that they would replace the sand and set a date. When I text to confirm the night before the arranged date, he responded the next day, midday, saying that the sand was backordered. We arranged a second date, which came and went with a different excuse. A third date was arranged, two weeks ago, which also came and went with absolutely no communication from Todd. I text him midday to ask where they were and have yet to receive a response. The patio is still not fixed and I have been completely ghosted by Todd and he has not honored his warranty. Do not hire this company.

> We have used Todd and TLC for some 20 years to do many things, from major landscaping projects, to pruning, sprinkler maintenance and repair, and lawn mowing, and they have never let us down. He gives great advice on projects and TLC's work is always beautifully and professionally finished. And he makes sure it is done right. Once we had some trouble with a sprinkler modification, and Todd came on the weekend to fix it for us. He has a happy staff and it's always a pleasure to have them do work for us. They've done a backyard stone patio which is universally admired; a gravel parking area for my truck; and this week they replaced a portion of our lawn with chipped stone and a stone walkway, in addition to sod replacement and border shaping on other portions of our lawn. All three major projects went very well and the end results are beautiful! We will definitely continue to call TLC for our future landscaping needs.

> The owner did not do anything the contracted to do. We got 1/2 through the project and we had to hire another company to come in and fix all of their mistakes. The water featured stopped working 30 days after it was installed. They put in the wrong size pump and then would not warranty their work. The sprinkler lines were not installed to the proper depth, so we had to hand dig them so they were installed properly. 3/4 of the plants died. The list goes on. But the worst part is that they ask for 1/2 of the money up front to lock in a start date and then they don't show up. It was a very frustrating dealing with the owner of the company. I will say his workers were very polite and I enjoyed them, but because of the owner and all the excuses he had i would not recommend him for a project.

**Comment from TLC Landscape:**

> Here is the reality. Mr. Kallas hired TLC Landscape in February 2016 for a project to start on April 15th, 2016, a Friday. We began installing the sprinkler system that day. Other trades were occupying the yard with tools, trash, and supplies in the following weeks. That prevented optimal progress, which Mr. Kallas was notified of several times, without response to TLC. By early May, the other trades had cleared the yard, allowing progress to continue. After about a week of progress, as the project neared completion, we arrived to the project to find the metal edging we installed ripped out of the ground. Mr. Kallas admitted to removing it, stating he didn't like its position. I had painted white lines on the dirt's surface prior to its installation, and received approval from Mr. Kallas to proceed. Without asking for additional compensation, we acknowledged his request and installed it at the new location. As project completion neared, we arrived with gravel to install on top of the weed barrier, per our contract. Mr. Kallas stopped work, saying he would rather have black compost. I drafted a change order the same day, which Mr. Kallas refused to sign, saying the change order cost of $400 was too high. Wanting to complete the project and get it behind us, I agreed to install it at cost of $200, but Mr. Kallas still refused to sign the change order. I informed Mr. Kallas that we couldn't continue the grass planting and soil installation, the final steps, until the mulch was installed, which was pending his signature. He then claimed that we walked off the job, and told us not to come back. I then heard from his attorney after I attempted to collect for only aspects of the project that were completed. I do not recommend Dave Kallas Real Estate, and would most definitely avoid working with him as a contractor. Innumerous other contractors working on the same house said he was very difficult to work with. As for the water feature, I was never notified that any problems arose with the pump, and have no reason to believe him. I took pictures of the project as we left it, showing all plants in good health. The three trees we planted had paint leftovers poured on their roots, apparantly an attempt by Mr. Kallas to sabotage their health and to help his case against me. When I brought up this issue at our mediation, he acted shy and embarrassed. The sprinkler lines were installed per Boise City Code. Mr. Kallas was upset that the main valve was installed next to the house, a common practice. We have since settled the case, for which Mr. Kallas agreed to pay for services rendered. I believe this is his sad attempt at retribution. It speaks volumes about Mr. Kallas' character that he would write his review on Christmas Day. I had more important things to do on Christmas Day than to respond to his post.

> TLC Landscape was extremely professional and timely in communications, gave a reasonable quote, and upon hire scheduled and completed the job in record time. I hired them to dismantle and construct a new retaining wall, as the old one was failing. They worked with neighboring properties to gain optimal access to my back yard. They finished the job on time, and the end result was beyond my expectation. They went over and beyond to not only complete the work, but made a seamless transition between the portion of my yard repaired and the surrounding area. I will definitely hire them again.

> Todd and his team did an excellent job from start (design) to finish (install). We had a very large project turning our overrun hillside yard into a usable space. Todd provided a great design that included planting 100s of low-water desert plants, a large paver deck with a gas fire ring, regrading, refurbishing our old retaining wall, and building stairs and pathways around the house/yard. TLC converted our unusable space into a highlight of our home. TLC's pricing was very reasonable. The crew that did the job, led by Todd's brother Evan, was excellent to work with and responded to our questions and requested changes along the way at no additional cost. We highly recommend Todd, Evan and TLC.

> When a project needs to be done by a contractor, I want creative ideas, a fair price, on time delivery of services , and of course on budget. Todd and his crew were professional, courteous, and very efficient. I had three bubblers installed (water feature) and a flagstone walkway to the feature. He had to start from scratch and TLC delivered. After the crew left and I looked at the feature a few days, I decided I wanted one of the rocks/bubblers turn a little bit to the right. Todd quickly dispatched two of his crew and they showed up and did the job. Great follow-up service! Highly recommend you call Todd if you have any projects in the yard. TLC will not disappoint.

> TLC Landscaping basically "zero scaped" my yard in two steps. They first did the back yard around June of 2013, and then did the front yard a month or so later. They removed the grass and a poorly laid stone
> patio, and built stone paths and a beautiful stone patio in the back yard. They did the same in the front yard working around my existing sidewalks. The boulders and plantings they installed have garnered many compliments from passersby. TLC did both jobs both on time and within budget, and coordinated their work with another company that erected a wrought iron fence around the front yard.

> Unfortunately, my technical expertise was not sufficient to transfer photos of the great job to this review!

> They arrived within the appointed time and proceeded to remove the branches. The whole job took about an hour and they cleaned up the site before they left.

> Friendly, efficient and professional service. We had no idea what we wanted to do with our little back yard. Todd planned, planted and made beauty out of weeds and sand. Can't wait for spring to see the final results. Also did an amazing job of extending our patio. The whole team was great! Thanks
