They were able to secure superior materials and labor within our budget, oversaw the job from start to finish and were a delight to work with. We completely redid the exterior of the home with cedar shake, replaced the guttering, as well as gave the porch a facelift with a durable concrete surface. The job was conducted in a timely manner and Jon always made sure that the subcontractors showed up on time and cleaned up the work space at the end of each day. Jon's attention to detail and Monique's sense of color and design gave us the home we always wanted. **Comment from JRML Associates, Inc.:** > Dear Dawn - Thank you very much for the positive review! Best regards, Jon Rizzo **★★★★★ — 997\_alex, April 2016** > Jon and Monique Rizzo are a great team. In 2002, they completely renovated our kitchen, dining room, and den. Their design ideas are excellent and they challenge the homeowner to go outside the ordinary. I have also used them to redesign our living room which is now a pool (pool table) room. Jon did some lighting updates for us and Monique suggested the lighting fixtures. My wife desparately wants to do our bathrooms, and we will surely use JRML for that when the time comes. **★★★★★ — tonydamalas, April 2016** > I had several remodeling projects in mind and before getting started I elected to interview several architectural firms to be sure that my expectations and collaboration activities would be positive and produce not only the outcome that I wanted but also that the processes would be professional, pleasant, show abilities beyond architectural skills, to include general contracting skills and understanding project management, schedule management, budget control and all around intuitive abilities to anticipate potential problems along with addressing my preferences, even if I failed to mention them. The relationship and results provided by JRML & Associates on multiple projects to date has not only met and satisfied these criteria but JRML has exceeded my expectations to the point where JRML is not only my architectural firm of record but first option for General Contractor and/or Project Manager for all my projects. JRML combines the best of architectural skills with good general contracting and construction skills so the final outcome is as expected, on time and on budget (and as proven by example in actual cases, under budget). **★★★★★ — James Ayres, April 2016** > The Bath Room and Closet are fantastic! We could not enjoy them more! We are so happy that you now have a success story in the "dry lake bed" known as Chesapeake! Thank you so much for everything you did! It was a real blessing! **★★★★★ — dacan517, Feb. 2016** > JRML designed a house for us, and later designed a kitchen for us. Our goal was to build a 3,500 sf house that took advantage of the view, sun and maximized the value of the property. We had only one or two small change orders, the plans were complete and detailed. We built at the peak of the market, and when we decided to sell four years later, we sold it without putting it on the market and it still came out ahead. (814 Close Ave. VB) They later designed a kitchen in our new house, we decided to live in the house during construction, which started to wear on us in the final weeks of the remodel. I probably got a little testy with John and Monique. They hung in there with us. John & Monique both have the gift of design. Great plans, and a beautiful end result. **★★★★★ — joyce\_jay44, Feb. 2016** > Monique was extremely knowledgeable and professional as she transformed our bedroom into a beautiful sanctuary. I am impressed by her ability to adjust her ideas to reflect our personalities and budget. She integrates what we already have with ideas to refine, enhance and beautify. Her contacts are experienced and provide quality craftsmanship in carpentry, wall unit design, painting and wallpaper installation. We have continued our relationship with JRML for 3 years+ and admire their ability and integrity. **★★★★★ — arybat, Feb. 2016** > Monique helped me design living room, family room, dining room, master bedroom, sunroom for our new construction home in Virginia Beach. i just loved the result. Monique proposed ideas that i would not have discovered on my own, which is exactly what i needed. She was professional, courteous and competent and stayed with me on the project over several years, as our needs and taste changed. We were initially drawn to JRML by husband/architect Jon's designs and both his and Monique's artistry. Highly recommended!!! **★★★★★ — thomasmd, Feb. 2016** > The staff of JRML were wonderful to work with from beginning to end, with a great eye for modern design. Jon was especially attentive to details, and was very responsive to our wants and needs. Money very well spent! **★★★★★ — HU-511478, Feb. 2016** > Re-designing our Master Bath after so many years felt like a daunting job. I wanted a modern look and beautiful details but knew that spatially, there was no way to change the room configurations so the changes were predicated on choosing the best cabinet design, lighting, flooring and other accents. Monique Rizzo came in with wonderful suggestions, surprising details (a cork floor) and had the eye for detail that we so needed. She guided us in colors and textures while always keeping in mind what we were expecting. There isn't a morning that I enter the room just loving the environment and feeling the beauty of the finished product. **★★★★★ — bigsurf42day, Feb. 2016** > Monique and Jon from JRML Associates are amazingly talented. They are a delight to work with as they bring professionalism and great ideas to the table while being 100% respectful of their client's vision. **★★★★★ — schormichele, Feb. 2016** > JRML did a remodel on my guest house. They were wonderful to work with!! > They met my budget and timeline requests and the final product was beautiful! > A truly exceptional experience! ## Selected projects - [Craftsman Kitchen - (Virginia Beach, VA)](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/craftsman-kitchen-virginia-beach-va-pj-vj~1031331) - Location: Virginia Beach, VA - Photos: 1 - [Farmhouse Kitchen - (Virginia Beach, VA)](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/farmhouse-kitchen-virginia-beach-va-pj-vj~1031305) - Location: Virginia Beach, VA - Photos: 1 - [Transitional Bath - (Norfolk, Virginia)](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/transitional-bath-norfolk-virginia-pj-vj~1031341) - Location: Norfolk, VA - Photos: 1 - [Condominium Lobby - (Virginia Beach, VA)](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/condominium-lobby-virginia-beach-va-pj-vj~1597245) - Location: Virginia Beach, VA - Photos: 1 - [Asian Kitchen -- (Virginia Beach, VA)](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/asian-kitchen-virginia-beach-va-pj-vj~1031318) - Location: Virginia Beach, VA - Photos: 1 - [Family Room - (Virginia Beach, VA)](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/family-room-virginia-beach-va-pj-vj~1681100) - Location: Virginia Beach, VA - Photos: 1 - Description: An updated family room featuring cork walls, French fireplace mantle, modern furnishings, plush Masland area rug, Agate side tables, and silver leaf resin credenza.
