After a year of use, we haven't had a single issue with it. So many friends and family have complimented the modern style and craftsmanship. The entire process, from design to build, was efficient, thorough, and handled with care. You can tell everyone at UH takes pride in what they do. George requested a wrap-up call so he can hear any feedback from me, good or bad. I had one very minor piece of feedback that he took seriously, and planned on addressing for future projects, and that receptiveness meant a lot to me. One of the reasons I hired UH was because of the glowing reviews on this very site, and they did not steer me wrong. From choices in thin material, cheap veneers, flake board, we were never satisfied in the construction technique for the cost they were charging. We finally searched custom installations, and came upon Urban Homecraft. Finally, a company we began to trust. Initially based on others reviews, then on to reading thru their website, we felt comfortable reaching out to George for further discussion about our built-ins. George was always thorough in our initial discussions about the project. We never felt pressured into any decisions. Once George handed us over to our project manager, Kayla explained everything in detail. Kayla was able to answer any questions we had, and when she did not have the answer immediately, she found the information from co-workers. > The design process took a few weeks. This allows for 3 full 3-D renderings of the built-ins. There is an initial pass at the design, then 2 more with our changes or additions. We were blown away with how realistic the rendering looked. > It took approximately 3 days for the installation to be completed. (If I recall correctly this was even 1 day shorter than estimated). The install crew were always professional, clean and quiet (as much as could be when using power tools, there was never loud music or loud voices). The install went on without any hitches. > We are now 5 months into using our built-ins. Everything is functioning as promised. We are absolutely thrilled with the overall experience with Urban Homecraft. They are gorgeous! Working with the designer (Kayla), the owner (George), the installers (Duran and his assistant) was wonderful. She listens, looks, and comes up with suggestions you haven't thought of, that maximize the space, all while keeping it looking fantastic. He was proactive with ideas and completely transparent about pricing and timing. Duran is a gentleman and an artist. His installation is perfect. The people who work for this company are outstanding. They also were very good about scheduling around an unexpected delay (which, to be clear, was completely our fault, not theirs), and not only stuck to the schedule but were finished a bit earlier than expected. The built-in turned out beautifully, totally transforming the look of our apartment, and we're thrilled with it. George and his team even built my husband a little wooden stand for his computer to replace the ugly laptop stand he had been using. I'm actually slightly disappointed that we don't need the kitchen redone yet so I can't hire Urban Homecraft again, but when we do, you can be sure I'll be calling them. I was personally concerned with the scope of the project, but George and his team were extremely professional from start to finish. Excellent communication from the beginning when we had our phone and in-house consultation, and throughout the process of discussing the design options, the type of material and finishings, and the installation process. Initial measurements were taken, but our project manager, Eric, made another trip to make sure all the measurements were spot on. Everyone answered all our questions in a thorough manner during phone calls and in person meetings, and were upfront with what was possible and what was trickier to accomplish, thus allowing us to design an island that fit our needs best. Our concerns were taken seriously and solutions were provided. Speaking of installation, I was impressed by the speed and efficiency at which the island was installed. There was some cutting needed, but the team made sure that our kitchen and living room was left dust-free and clean. Basically the whole process was a breeze. George even did a post-project debriefing with us to make sure that we were satisfied with our island.
