### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Paula lucey, April 2019**

> I did a huge project of reflooring my whole house, repainting and changing out the window treatments. Marlissa did a wonderful job of helping me to select the color theme, and to schedule all the trade people. I would use her again without reservation. She has excellent taste. She was honest and worked with my ideas. She was on the site often and gave good directions to the vendors. My only concern was one vendor that came back and asked for significant more money because he "found" issues. He had the opportunity to come to the home and see the project, the "issues" were very clear, even to me, someone who is not a professional in this area so I felt this was bait and switch. This was not Marilissa fault, the fault of her vendor. I think that vendor had a male/ female issue and thought he could pull one over on me, a single female.
>
> The other vendors, especially the drapery vendor were outstanding.

**Comment from Destination Design, LLC:**

> Paula,
> I'm so glad to have been able to help you with redoing your home. It looks amazing! I know you are enjoying entertaining friends and family in your new space. I agree that the vendor should have handled the uncharges more professionally and in a more timely manner. This was the first time I had used him. I have talked to him about the issue and hopefully he will learn from it. Thanks so much for your support!

> Marissa reached out to me for some project photography. She was clear with her vision, very professional, and had a great personality. Her history and experience with eastern culture influences come through in her work, and provide a unique voice to the design community. Look forward to working with her in the future and wish her all the best!

**Comment from Destination Design, LLC:**

> Looking forward to the next design project to photograph with you!

**★★★★★ — Jason Geils, Jan. 2018**

> Marissa from Destination Design is an exemplary designer and construction manager. She excels at communicating with her clients and contractors. Her scheduling is always on point which is key in any construction project. Marissa's eye to detail and effective communication style is immediately evident from the design, commencement, implementation of project to its end.

**Comment from Destination Design, LLC:**

> Thank you Jason! It's great to know I have professionals like you working on my team!

**★★★★★ — edna wilson, Jan. 2018**

> I hired Destination Design to install tile in my foyer and on a long window ledge area that needed to be upgraded and used for plants. The tile foyer and follow up on the window ledge adds some color and draws one into the rest of the condominium.
>
> The design help was spot on and the professional that showed up to lay the tile, grout it and seal it was also spot on.

**Comment from Destination Design, LLC:**

> Thanks Edna! Glad we could help with your project. Marissa

**★★★★★ — Ruth Busalacchi, July 2017**

> Our kitchen/family room/hallway/partial bedroom remodel finished "two weeks early!". That's an amazing feat, considering all of the living space impacted by our remodel! Marissa was on top of all of the details and professionals needed to keep the job on task.
> And we LOVE the finished results! We truly have a dream kitchen filled with family, friends, good food and laughter in a beautiful living space. thank you! Ruth

**Comment from Destination Design, LLC:**

> Ruth and Mark, you were a delight to work with! I'm so glad to hear that you are loving your new kitchen and family room. I know how stressful living in a construction zone can be - but you made it to the other side and now get to reap the rewards for years to come.

**★★★★★ — cristieleto989, March 2017**

> I am delighted with the work Marissa did on my house! Carpeting, paint, furniture and artwork that she chose are all beautiful! I am now very proud of my house, and very comfortable in it every day. It feels very sophisticated and very cozy at the same time. Just what I was looking for. Also, she's wonderful to work with. Highly recommended!!!

**Comment from Destination Design, LLC:**

> Cristie, Thanks so much for your review. You and Tony are wonderful people, and I'm grateful to know you.

**★★★★★ — Ruth Lebed, July 2016**

> Marissa and I worked together on three different homes. She was able to help me create a beautiful home in a two bedroom Chicago apartment, a three bedroom cape cod , and, most recently, a lovely larger home in Fox Point, WI. With her great eye for design, Marissa was able to help me with furniture placement, picture hanging, window treatments, and, most important, paint color choices. The moves, coming on the heels of a divorce, were stressful and overwhelming. Marissa took on all of the tasks of helping to quickly turn the spaces into warm, welcoming places. In addition to helping me purchase items, she was able to use my own things in creative ways so that these places quickly felt like home. And, she is terrificly fun to work with as well! highly recommend her for small projects or whole house remodels.

**Comment from Destination Design, LLC:**

> Ruth, you have beautiful artwork and lovely heirlooms from your family. It was such a pleasure working with you on your homes - all of them!! This new one suits you so well, i know you'll be happy there for a long time.

**★★★★★ — mpnchi773, April 2016**

> Marissa has helped with design advice for a new space, buying wonderful Asian antiques and designing and delivering custom furniture for my home. She has a great eye, is easy to work with and has the training to do it accurately and well. A great asset!

**Comment from Destination Design, LLC:**

> Thanks for your review, Mary. You are a pleasure to work with. Your style and vision are uniquely yours! Thanks for including me in the process.

**★★★★★ — Galbraith Carnahan Architects, LLC, April 2016**

> Marissa and I worked together with JDS Builders on a residential addition in Mount Pleasant, WI.
>
> The focus of the project was to create a new entertaining space that would incorporate a more formal gathering room and upgraded kitchen. Having the guests visit while the hosts prepared the meals was key, without having the guests actually in the kitchen preparation area..
>
> Marissa created a workable and elegant kitchen space with cabinets, counters and appliances that made the space warm, inviting and open. Guests feel that they are in the kitchen visiting while the host is able to maneuver without having her guests "under-foot".
>
> Marissa was very easy to collaborate with and was a critical part of the team. It was a pleasure working with her.
>
> John Bayer
> Galbraith Carnahan Architects, LLC

**Comment from Destination Design, LLC:**

> John, It was a great collaboration! Thanks for all of your great ideas and advice. I think the end result, and the client's excitement for their new space speaks volumes.

> Marissa has done a number of design projects for me -- both business and personal. She is a master on coordinating materials and space planning (which I am totally out of my element). She designed my company's lobby space along with some of the meeting rooms with an outcome that was unimaginable for me without her direction. She also coordinated my home redo of colors, carpet and kitchen including managing the project with the subs.
>
> Presently she is representing me as project manager for a remodel of a conference room at a public university
>
> If you have an interior design need, you would be well served to give Marissa a call.

**★★★★★ — jerzugirl74\_2000, Feb. 2016**

> Marissa did an excellent design job on my kitchen remodel. Her redesign improved the work flow of my kitchen, and the materials look beautiful. I would definitely hire her again.

**★★★★★ — zzbroen, Feb. 2016**

> As a first-time remodeler, I had no idea where to even begin. But i did have some visions of how I wanted my kitchen and dining area to look after it was done. Marissa Schultz immersed herself in my space, listened to my ideas, and looked at my inspirations. Then together, we dove into how to make it come to life. We chose materials. She helped me understand what to look for in contractors and how to go about organizing the work and the project. Since she is quite a distance away, she left me with detailed plans to guide me along every step of the way. And whenever i have a question, she is very responsive. My design has changed slightly since she left, as new options presented themselves. She helped make my decisions at every turn. I am so delighted and excited!

**Comment from Destination Design, LLC:**

> Nancy, As the space becomes completed, we'll set up for some photos. Although it's a small space, your willingness to be bold with color and style makes a big statement. Thanks for letting me be a part of the creative process. We sure had fun!

## Community Q&A

**Q: island exhaust fan** *(in Photo Questions)*

is the island exhaust fan the square box on the ceiling? Does it work well?

A: Yes, the exhaust fan is the box on the ceiling. It can also be flush mounted in the ceiling, but there wasn’t enough headspace in this particular instance. It works quite well. The ceiling height is lower than a typical ceiling.

**Q: kitchen cabinets and floor** *(in Photo Questions)*

Nice, can you tell me what species of wood these cabinets are and the stain?

Can you also provide the stain for the hickory flooring?

Thanks

A: The cabinets are cherry. They are custom cabinets so the stain was also custom. It was a medium cherry color. The hickory flooring was a natural stain - no color. I hope that helps!

**Q: Counter stools** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where are these from?

A: These stools were purchased at a reclaimed wood store in Appleton WI. The name is Urban Evolutions. The original fabric color was gray.

**Q: Where did you get table and chairs?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Julia, I'm still working on a quote for you. Thanks for your patience. Marissa

**Q: Before and After Bathroom. What to do with Mirror?** *(in Before & After)*

Before is the yellow walls. I painted cabinets and walls grey. I had a large mirror and not sure what to do with it? I could paint it white? Or do something totally different. Suggestions? I need something to go on that wall. Thanks!

A: You might consider painting the far wall (the one that had the framed mirror) and then adding a piece of art. The mirror over the sink could be updated with a J-bracket to hold it in place instead of the clips. It looks like it might have some chips in the backing. So I'd replace it. Or, I like to take glass tiles, use a strong adhesive, and glue them around the edge of the mirror as a frame. This might also hide the paint chips. Looks great so far!

**Q: Very nice! What is the wall made of?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Thanks for your inquiry! The wall is a poured concrete construction with exposed aggregate stone.
