My concern is that, given the final look is more towards classic, how can I use color here? Questions: 1\. Should I do an accent wall 2\. How can I decorate the mantel to bring some "life" to it? 3\. These walls are so high I just don't know what to do to fill them. I just put this mirror up and now I think it's too small for the space as well. Any thoughts or help is always appreciated! A: You are very lucky to have high ceilings. They are a wonderful feature in a home but can be difficult to fill. If you're thinking about buying more furniture for the space, a good way to fill up the wall would be to get a larger entertainment unit that has shelving on either side and at the bottom to lift your T.V. up a bit. Or perhaps by simply mounting the television to the wall might be a good start. **Q: Open shelving in kitchen, yay or nay?** *(in Design Dilemma)* I am considering open shelving instead of upper cabinets in my new kitchen. I will have lots of lower cabinets and a good sized pantry. Will the items stored on open shelves get grimy, especially glassware? Will I regret losing the privacy of closed cabinets?! Any advice or experience shared is much appreciated! A: Agree with the first comment. It definitely depends on the layout, if they are above the stove, next to a window, etc., the cleaning (and organization!) will be frequent. You could definitely mix open shelving with closed cabinets, but you may regret having them all open. **Q: My dining room needs help!** *(in Design Dilemma)* I would love to get advice on what to do make my dining room look updated (but not modern) and complete.
