They do amazing work. > Thanks Jerry! **★ — Sharon Wight, Sept. 2019** > I hired JC Property Services to build a new gas fireplace surround, enlarge a wall opening, remove a 1/2 wall, close a doorway and replace/repair some ceramic tile in the kitchen where we expanded the wall opening. I purchased all the materials. I really had high hopes for Jerry and John and I've hesitated writing this review because I like him as a person and really wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. He was prompt in responding to my request for an estimate and he assured me he could handle all aspects of the job and we discussed in length the project and what they would and would not be doing. While I expected some bumps, I wasn't prepared for how this project would end. First, I gave them the manual that came with my gas fireplace that had all the specs, installation and maintenance requirements and they lost it; it just disappeared from the house. Then, they assured me they could match the drywall texture in our 1976 home, but we ended up having to pay someone else to come and patch the ceiling and walls. The grout job on the kitchen tile is poor because they didn't pack it tight enough and it dried/settled and left cracks and crevices. But the Coup de Gras was the fireplace work. I don't think they had any real experience building a fireplace surround and/or done brick-work (it was brick tiles). I will give them credit for taking the time to line the brick tiles up straight, but the grout was atrocious and the mess they left behind was ridiculous. At first, it seems they just finger 'pushed' the grout in the seams, no troweling, no consistency, no symmetry, big globs everywhere. It was a mess, I literally cried when I saw it. Their fix for this disaster was to wipe a thin layer of grout over the entire fireplace which essentially ruined the brick. My husband and I spent hours using an acid wash to try and clean the brick with little success. More crying. I purchased expensive thick stones for the hearth. I measured the hearth and the stones to make sure they would fit. Instead of telling me they didn't fit (which I found hard to believe) they attempted to 'cut' the stones to size (without consulting me) but they didn't have the right tool so the cuts weren't straight . Now the gaps between the hearthstones are not even because the cuts weren't straight; and once again, they didn't properly pack the grout so I have cracks, crevices and holes between the stones after the grout dried and shrunk. The stones were also covered with the fireplace grout (a different color) which, again, we spent hours scrubbing with an acid solution to try to clean up. They also didn't grout the bottom of the fireplace where it meets the floor (except where their globs filled the space) so I've had to go back and fill this gap. Lastly, they failed to seal the grout. This all took place from Feb-May or June 2018 so by the time they were done, it was summer. Fast forward to Winter 2018-2019. Soon after we started using the fireplace, the grout began cracking both vertically and horizontally because it wasn't properly applied or because it wasn't sealed properly. We also had a big ol' chunk of grout fall out leaving a big hole. I contacted Jerry in January of 2019, sent him pictures of the issues and he came right out to inspect. He told me he had to finish a job he was on, but would be back to fix everything in March. March turned to April, to May and here we are, 8 months later, and he still hasn't fulfilled his promise to make things right or offer to reimburse us to have the issues fixed by someone else. We are completely and utterly disappointed and could not, in good conscience recommend Jerry or JC Property Servicese LLC, to anyone. Jerry and his crew not only came in on relatively short notice to repair a long list of items that arose during inspection but they have continued to provide a wide variety of services at the house whenever they are needed. Jerry cares about the quality of his work and we love that he explains things thoroughly, always picks up the phone, and is very responsive to e-mail and texts. He prices jobs fairly and has been willing to help with whatever he can. Jerry painted a vaulted ceiling and moved a closet. Then I ordered cabinets, floors and countertops through Lowe’s who arranged contractors to install these items but there were projects that they did not do. I was able to schedule with Jerry to complete the plumbing and electrical jobs so that the contractors from Lowe’s were not held up. Jerry got along with those contractors. Prior to completing a job, Jerry always provided an estimate and we agreed on what supplies I would get or he would supply and all was itemized in the estimate. Jerry is good at answering texts.
