## Community Q&A

**Q: Before and After 1900s Kitchen Reno** *(in The Old House)*

Well here she is. The before photos will be listed in the comment section. What I’m most proud of is the “shiplap” is the original tongue and groove wood walls that we found under 2 layers of Sheetrock, paint and wallpaper. We will do the same thing to the pantry wall along with a sliding. barn door. I was pretty fortunate to have a clean slate. It was designed by me and a Pinterest....and a little inspiration from \#farmhousekitchen and Vikki Bradshaw Marozas.
We will be adding two wood shelves with rod iron brackets where the coffee art is. We will also add black drawer and cabinet pulls.
Cabinets are custom made and the colors are Dover white and Jamestown blue. We had them mixed at Sherwin Williams but I think they are Benjamin Moore colors. The appliances, backsplash tiles and windows are all from Lowes. The faucet is Moen. Countertops are biscotti quartz.

**Q: Will shiplap in bathrooms let moisture get behind boards and mold?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Would love to put shiplap in my bathroom but I'm concerned about moisture being able to get behind boards through the gaps? and possible mold growth.  Thoughts?

A: Everyone has an opinion about shiplap but I personally feel that if you like the look, go with it (and I'm not just saying that because I rep a shiplap company)!  

If you are concerned about the moisture in the bathroom but love the look of shiplap, we offer an exterior siding shiplap that may work for you.  It is pre-primed so you can paint it any color, comes in 1x6 and 1x8 widths, and is tongue and groove with a perfect 1/8" nickel gap!

You get the look you want, and you can rest easy because you won't need to worry about mold, moisture and warping.

Predictions on what will replace espresso wood, subway tile, trellis and ikat, grey with just about anything? What's new and destined to be the next big thing?

A: What does everyone think about shiplap?  Not necessarily in the "farmhouse" design trend sense, but used in almost any space... mid-century modern, contemporary, craftsman, modern farmhouse, boho... Will clients be asking for it?
