## Community Q&A

**Q: Stuck....now what** *(in Home Decorating)*

I swear I have no creative bone in my body, what would you suggest on the wall in between the windows? Console.... would it need to match the cocktail table, pictures, bookcase.....
Thanks in advance.

A: Think pictures or plants would be a better idea. Plants would my your room look fresher and green

**Q: Paint Color Recommendations for School Nurse Office** *(in Paint)*

Hi there!
I'm a school nurse looking to spruce up my middle school office this summer before school starts. I was hoping to paint a nice calming blue or teal (the yellow is driving me bonkers!), but I have to match an existing bright blue recovery couch (see pics). I appreciate your suggestions! I would like to accessorize with some green plants and art, too. Basically shifting to a cooler color scheme.

That is my one and only window. Fluorescent lights above. Maroon-ish door. The room is about the size of half a classroom. Pretty nice space!

Thank you for your suggestions!

Crystal

A: I think minty color suggested above is a great idea for your office. As back to a student, I'd love to see nurse office as fresh room so I minty is a good option.

**Q: Help! Not sure how to help this wall** *(in Design Dilemma)*

This is my current family room, and I really love the brick hearth & fireplace, but want to replace the bookshelves (I painted them white with blue blackground when I moved in-they were ugly 80's oak before)
with something that looks more traditional like the rest of the home. Question is... should I stick with white or try another color?

A: I think white is the most suitable color for your blue background. However, both of them seem not match to the fireplace much. If you change color of the book shelf, it's necessary for you to change the color of the wall as well to match with the fireplace.

**Q: suggestions to close wall cutout without blocking light** *(in Home Decorating)*

Hello all,
We are buying a new home and the wall has a cutout in the second floor. I am worried that it could be an hazard for the kids and would like to close it out. I don’t want to drywall it as the cutout brings in light. Is there anyway to still let light pass through but close the cutout ? I was thinking of installing custom window but that would be glass ..

A: I think glass would be a good option for you, it both saves the kids and still let the light go through.

**Q: Help decorate my living area/dining room. Feels unfinished and empty.** *(in Home Decorating)*

Hello! I moved in 6 months ago and I'm having trouble with decorating. I lean towards modern and contemporary. Blacks grays and white, but I also like teals, blue and green.
I still need a dining table and like the concrete style but am wondering if I need a wood tone since I have a lot of gray. Maybe a table by the bird cage and was thinking a bench and hooks in the open side of the entry.
Any help would be appreciated! We are getting married in our backyard in September so I would like the house to feel a little more finished by then.

A: I think you should shop for paintings or art to put on the wall, add carpet for your living room or add plants to make home less spacious.

**Q: What can I do with these weird walls?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I can’t remember the name of this wall material but it was used to enclose what use to be a front porch made into an extra room and what we use as a dining room in our home.
The wall texture looks bad if painted so would wallpaper be a good idea??
What would you do? What is the cheapest best option?
Thank you!

A: I think painting is better. Let's try to find out the most suitable paint color for your wall!
