### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Deane Allin, April 2026**

> Lisa and Kira were great to work with, collaborating with us to put our vision on paper, and producing a beautiful landscaping plan for our property. They repurposed existing rock/stone into the new design and blended the new plantings in with existing features that we wanted to maintain. Though we plan to do much of the work ourselves, they provided a recommendation for a local landscaper that they've worked to perform that work which we'd like professionally done.

**Comment from Harmony Design Northwest:**

> Thank you for the opportunity to level up you backyard! We enjoyed working with you and Nancy and cant wait to see the results.

**★★★★★ — HU-523725584, Dec. 2025**

> Lisa and Kira are talented designers and take the time to listen to my vision and requests before coming up with a design that incorporates the details. They are always available for questions and made the process feel like working with friends! Love the design for my landscape!

**Comment from Harmony Design Northwest:**

> We had so much fun working with you. Your backyard should be a true haven now.

**★★★★★ — Denise A, Nov. 2023**

> Lisa and Melanie are so insightful and have a wonderful design sense. My husband and I are in love with our landscape design. It exceeded our expectations. Even though I like to think I have an eye for design, I could never have conceptualized and planned what Lisa did. I highly recommend Harmony Design.

**Comment from Harmony Design Northwest:**

> So nice of you to post this review. We really enjoyed working with you and are so excited to see it all come together.

**★★★★★ — Mandy Foley, Oct. 2023**

> Lisa and Harley did a wonderful job listening to our wants and needs for our backyard. Then they translated those conversations into the space of our dreams! They were realistic about the budget and Lisa went the extra mile to ensure there were no zoning issues with the city. When the plan was ready to be put into action - Lisa connected us with the a wonderful contractor who stayed on budget and timeline. Working with Harmony Design NW was a fantastic experience! Highly recommend.

**Comment from Harmony Design Northwest:**

**★★★★★ — HU-318752691, April 2023**

> Harmony Design Northwest is the company that provided the design for my landscaping project. Everything went smoothly and in a timely manner. The resulting landscape is beautiful, functional and in line with what I had requested. Lisa even recommended the contractor to do the actual work, and they were terrific. I highly recommend this business.

**Comment from Harmony Design Northwest:**

> Thank you for the kind review! We loved working with you and are so glad you are happy.

**★★★★★ — Ryan Dorstad, Sept. 2022**

> Lisa did an amazing job turning our ideas into a well designed backyard paradise. She even managed to add concepts we had not considered to create a plan that flows together.

**Comment from Harmony Design Northwest:**

> Ryan, many thanks for a wonderful time designing for and with you! We are so excited for your family to enjoy your new patio and outdoor covered kitchen and dining space!

**★★★★★ — Sonna M Durdel, March 2022**

> Lisa and Mel came up with a Very thoughtful and creative solution to a challenging privacy issue.
> A new subdivision is going in behind my home which used to be a beautiful grassy open area. I was going to lose all privacy for my backyard and a large covered entertainment area with fireplace, 1/2 circle sofa and eating area with BBQ.
> Due to the height of the new homes... a 6 foot fence wouldn't begin to create the screening effect required and due to the depth of my property evergreens would make my home and entertainment area too dark.
> So their design with flowering Magnolia's Dogwoods and Japanese Maples along with year around colorful plants and scrubs and adjusting soil levels... along with creating beautiful river rock and flagstone pathways ... It's going to be not only beautiful but achieve the objective of privacy with diffused light year around.

**Comment from Harmony Design Northwest:**

> Sonna, I'm so glad you are happy. Landscaping doesn't solve everything, but it certainly can help!

**★★★★★ — berkeleybarnett, Nov. 2021**

> I had a great experience drawing up plans for my front & backyard makeover with Lisa and the Harmony Team. Lisa is very easy to collaborate with and knowledgeable about how to achieve my end goals for maximizing utility and aesthetics. I am embarking on a large investment so attention to details is my top priority. I had the basic concepts down, I needed help refining them to the final design. I'm very happy with her work and highly recommend her for your next landscape design projects.

**Comment from Harmony Design Northwest:**

> Berkeley, thank you for an amazing opportunity. Working with you was a job!

**★★★★★ — criglow, Oct. 2021**

> I knew Lisa was the one to design our yard the first time I met her. She listened to what I wanted and created something that was more than I had imagined. She was very hands-on, coming by to check on progress and always available for my questions. We liked her design so much, that we have already hired her to finish out our backyard. I would recommend her to anyone looking to create a yard that they can enjoy year-round.

**Comment from Harmony Design Northwest:**

> Thank you for such a nice review! We have had so much fun designing for you and spending time getting to know you.

**★★★★★ — DeMaria Family, Feb. 2021**

> We have owned several homes and are DIY'ers from the first one thirty years ago but our current property has an unbelievably steep slope with somewhat hidden giant boulders scattered underneath the house, garage and down to the backyard fence. I contacted Lisa based on previous client reviews because we could not decide where to start without a plan.
>
> Harmony Design NW is indeed everything positive in mine and previous reviews. From the very first phone call, Lisa was professional, actively listens and recaps when necessary to verify details, goes over the initial owner questionnaire with great care to respect all the factors in play, and then presented a plan that was not only competent, but gorgeous.
>
> Every step of the way was full of generously shared experience, on-target recommendations for the type of contractors needed, and tips for good ways to incorporate what was in our range of abilities with DIY phases.
>
> Starting from one initial meeting with pictures, to checking in with two phone calls for specifics, a summary walk-around meeting with a partner design architect and the presentation of the design that was then enhanced in response to our requests, she delivered a beautiful and workable design on time that conquered the math on our part of the mountain so we were able to begin this long-desired hardscaping with full confidence.
>
> The attached pictures are BEFORE and DURING because we won't be finished until late this year, and if possible I will post the AFTER pictures when complete. This was one of the best decisions of our entire renovation to work with Lisa and we will always be grateful for the chance to work with her.

**Comment from Harmony Design Northwest:**

> I am so glad we helped implement your vision! This is a one of a kind project and was very exciting to design.

## Community Q&A

**Q: So beautiful!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love everything about this yard!

A: Thank you, Lauren! If you are in Portland we'd be happy to chat about transforming your yard too. Just reach out anytime.

**Q: plants in the foreground?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What are the plants in the foreground (two flowering bushy things and one with bright green leaves)?

A: Hi, the pink blooming plants are Spirea "Little Princess" and the bright green plant is a bleeding heart.

**Q: Lovely deck! What is the decking material?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Thank you. it turned out beautifully. The material is Trex.

**Q: Fence Stain** *(in Photo Questions)*

What kind of wood is that and how is it treated? It looks like maybe cedar with some kind of stain? We have the same pavers and would like to duplicate the look.

A: Hi, the fence is cedar, but I don't know what stain the contractor used. I would suggest taking this photo to your home store to find the best match.

**Q: Pricing** *(in Photo Questions)*

how much does it cost? is it more expensive than installing tile? of course the range for tile is huge but just wanted to get an idea, perhaps it's charged per square ft? Thanks

A: Hi, sorry I took so long to get back to you. The deck is Trex, and the concrete is stained. I am sure it is less expensive than installing tile. Plus, tile is not used outdoors. Cost depends on your supplier and their labor costs.

**Q: Please let me know the zone and name to two trees , two sides.** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Portland, OR is zone 8b.
