They insisted they had obtained the certificate of occupancy and wouldn't make any alterations. Ultimately, I had to spend $4500 plus fees for an attorney and village inspector to demonstrate that the fault lies with Icon Building Group > > My disappointment deepened when Icon Building Group didn't address the problem after regrading. I incurred additional expenses by having to hire a village inspector to establish their mistake. As a customer, if you're indifferent to financial losses and fluctuations in interest rates because of their delay, please choose the builder > > Furthermore, my house, worth about $1.8 million, appears to be a small concern for their larger business. The owner shows little concern about losing customers. Instead of collaboratively resolving issues, they employ several lawyers to engage in disputes. > > Unfortunately for the builder, their lawyers are far from excellent, often having to rectify their mistakes after engaging in pointless arguments > > I must acknowledge that Tim and Mark were instrumental in resolving many issues. Their proficiency in their roles is commendable. As a result of their assistance, I've decided to upgrade my review rating from one star to two stars **Comment from Icon Building Group:** > Above could not be more inaccurate or misleading. If you look at the picture, the water pooling was caused by the customers footprints walking through his backyard after 3 or 4 days of rain, and regardless, is by no means anywhere near being a swamp. Additionally, we had a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy at the time of the picture, which means the Village and the County had signed off on all of the work, allowing the customers to close and move in. > > The client had zero interest in understanding why there was no issue with closing the home and I mean zero. Instead, HE decided to bring an attorney into the equation, it was not me as indicated above In my 30 years of being self employed and participating in thousands of transactions, I have had to engage an attorney maybe 15 times. I would say this is a pretty good indication that normally a dispute is brought to a satisfying conclusion with both sides displaying compassion, mutuality and a sense of fairness. > > What is odd to me is that the experience myself and my firm had with the customer, from our first meeting to the day they walked in the back yard and took the picture, was nothing short of wonderful. I suspect it was the same for them, as there is no mention of anything negative, other than their "issue" with a couple of wet footprints, the day before they were supposed to close on their home. It leads me to believe there might have been reason(s) they needed to delay their move in and chose the water tactic to do so. > > There is nothing more important to me than the customer and their experience with my company.
