We decided to jump back in recently but decided not to continue with LWA after receiving an email thread from him to his partner Kellen that read, "It is small and therefore not particularly profitable, nor a great design opportunity." > I was very open about our budget of $300-350K and he said that it was reasonable so we went ahead and put down a $7500 deposit. Then came a bid that put us way over budget, and when asked how accurate it could be, LWA kept telling us that it depended on the rest of the design choices. But it seemed like every time we tried to finish the design, we were being stalled. LWA really wanted us to pick a contractor he had not worked with before and at one point was resisting helping us to get another bid. > The interactions did seem right and I am sure our project was pretty small compared to the million dollar homes he regularly works on, but for us it was still one of the biggest investments we were going to be making as a family for many year to come and we expected to be treated better by a professional. > I also felt the communication was inconsistent and ultimately we walked away with a $7500 loss simply because we couldn't imagine working with someone on such a big project with this dynamic. **★★★★★ — Troy Adams, Oct. 2020** > As the owner/ builder of this project, Lane Williams and his design team were instrumental in the successful outcome by providing a great process from start to finish. His use of the latest design 3D software was fantastic, which allowed us to virtually walk through the house before any work began. The first was a very successful major remodel to our home in Medina. The guest cabin on the other hand was a low budget, family project where we acted as the Owner/Contractor and completed most of the construction ourselves, a very modest project. Lane's contribuiton to our thinking about how much space we needed and how we would use it was critical, he led us to a much different place than where we started. The final design consisted of two bedrooms, sitting room and bath totaling 600 sf. Lane's team provided a permit ready set of plans, on time, at a modest cost and responded promptly to issues that we encountered working through the permitting process with the county. A: The vanity is custom cabinetry produced by a local cabinetmaker rather than a product. The cabinet material you see here is rift sawn white oak with a caesarstone countertop. The vessel sinks are from Kohler, the Veil series. **Q: Great use of melamine. Looks nice. Is there anything you can share?** *(in Photo Questions)* Wonder what wood grain that melamine is called? Some sort of metal track for the pull handle? Awesome A: Not Melamine. We used a wood product called Plexwood which was about 1/4” thick. The pulls are continuous recessed pulls, see the DP224 pull from Doug Mockett. **Q: what is the diameter of the support column? is it painted?** *(in Photo Questions)* I have two columns in my kitchen that I want to expose in a contemporary design. A: That column is a 4" diameter pipe column. It has been blackened and sealed vs painted. **Q: Fascia** *(in Photo Questions)* What's the material and construction of the fascia? A: The fasica is a painted engineered panel (hardie-trim is the most common). There is a few inches of metal flashing above at the roofing. All of that in in-line with our framing and the brick is proud of that with a flashing cap at the top of it. **Q: Exterior/Interior wood** *(in Photo Questions)* Hello, could you share what wood (specifically color) was used on this home? Absolutely stunning!
