You should count on their connections; they can accomplish more for less, and more efficiently than if you sought out your own vendors. We have anew master bath and new quartzite counters in two bathrooms, new custom showers, and a fabulous custom stacked-stone fireplace. They did the stack stone in two days-an amazing feat for a 22ft.+ fireplace with only two men measuring, cutting, and stacking stone. We were assured that we could build the garage within budget. Alyssa ran some numbers and again said the garage was doable. We handed over $8000 to start a design, they happily took our money but never delivered saying that a garage could not be built for $200,000, we would need an additional $125,000 if we wanted the garage. They are extremely incompetent. I urge others to be weary of their unethical practices. **Comment from Christie's Design Build Remodeling:** > Thank you for your feedback Nancy. Our notes state that Steve and Alyssa met with you to discuss the final verbal ballpark numbers and move forward with a Planning and Budgeting Agreement for your RV garage. In this RV garage, you wanted a dump station, a bathroom added, finished walls, insulation, heat, adding quite a bit of concrete to your current driveway, standard electrical needed for your RV, with an additional 1 car garage off the side. With this you also wanted stucco walls, matching stone surround, corbels, and clay shingles to match your house. As we stated in that meeting, we would be able to build you a garage for $200,000, but we would not be able to get you everything you wanted for that price. However, we stated we could find out costs, research HOA requirements, get an engineer out there, soil samples done, property survey done, as well as create plans for our standard planning and budgeting fee of 4% of the $200K you wanted to budget around. > > Christie's gave you an initial design that would fit within the $200K budget you wanted. You said that it was not what you wanted for your garage and that we had to redesign it and give you an estimate of what you wanted, even though we told you it would cost much more to build the RV garage with everything you desired. We came up with a design of everything you initially asked for and the estimate came out to being $296,926.91. You, of course frustrated with sticker shock, demanded we get the estimate down. We said we could absolutely do so, but we would have to cut out a lot of the items you wanted for your garage. After many of hours of HOA research and telephone calls, meeting with subcontractors, engineers, and a surveyor, to get the estimate down closer to your desired budget, we were finally able to get the estimate down to $210,504.33. This was still a garage that had a dump station, running water, insulation, electric heat, concrete foundation, with the additional garage on the side and of course standard requirements for an RV garage. We did use standard asphalt shingles, battenboard siding, which is on many RV garages in your neighborhood, so we were confident it would have been approved by your HOA had you moved forward to the initial design meeting with the HOA. However, you refused because it was not exactly what you wanted for your budget. As our Planning and Budgeting Agreement states, you would have received a credit back for the $8,000 for the Planning and Budgeting Agreement had you chose to move forward with the build-out and your final costs would have been $202,504.33. Of course, if you didn’t do any insulation, the dump station, the additional garage on the side, it would have been much less than your budgeted $200K. > > Additionally, you did receive detailed blueprints and 3D views that you can take to any other contractor and get estimates/pricing for your RV garage. Our costs getting engineers, soil samples, surveys completed, along with the tons hours spent doing estimating, designs, City and HOA requirements research is what you paid the 4% of the 200k planning and budgeting agreement for your garage. **★★★★★ — HU-555149, May 2017** > We've had a couple of projects done by Christie's (a full basement finish and an entryway railing replacement) and we've been very pleased with the craftsmanship and customer service provided by Christie's.
