**★★★★★ — Katherine Kawaguchi, Oct. 2013**

> As an Interior Designer and business owner I seek out and retain top professionals in their respective field. Dave Adams has been a valued partner of Guchi for many years! His eye and creative ability to capture the detail of all our projects is Amazing! I personally love "photo shoots" of our work as I experience design thru his lens! An added benefit -I am afforded his patience while I stage for his next shot! This new lens peek into the world of interior design and added dimension helps me reach the next level in client satisfaction! Dave so casually submerges himself into the project at hand and asks creative questions and offers valued observations. Thank you Dave!

 - Location: Davis, CA
 - Photos: 12
 - Description: This house is the perfect example of when a handful of small, well-designed details come together to form a truly magnificent remodel. This was a big project to take on- a whole house transformation of a 1960’s Streng (if you’re not familiar with the Sacramento-area builders, read more about them here) home with lots of design challenges. The owners, one of whom grew up in the house, knew that they wanted to de-compartmentalize the space and allow for better flow of movement and light. They also…
- [Central Davis Kitchen Remodel](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/central-davis-kitchen-remodel-pj-vj~1972658)
 - Location: Davis, CA
 - Photos: 8
 - Description: The owners of this home loved the colorful character of the original kitchen and the simple charm of their post-war cottage. But the useful life of the 50’s-era kitchen had all but been used up and the compartmentalized floor plan made it difficult to host family gatherings. The homeowners wanted the new kitchen to maintain the character of the original while providing for their current needs as well as the possibility of aging in place. This meant that the wall between the dining room and kitch…
- [Mace Ranch Addition](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/mace-ranch-addition-pj-vj~3007157)
 - Location: Davis, CA
 - Photos: 10
 - Description: The owners of the 90’s tract home were looking for a way to grow and modernize to fit the needs of their young family. Their living, dining, and kitchen areas were all lumped together in one “great room” which left much space to be desired. The family wanted a new space that could adapt to serve many functions- as an additional living room and play area for the kids, or as an entertainment area with a bar for drinks, or even as a comfortable room for overnight guests. Together we created a solut…
- [Cleveland Street Kitchen Remodel](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/cleveland-street-kitchen-remodel-pj-vj~3005131)
 - Location: Davis, CA
 - Photos: 5
 - Description: Sometimes making room is as much about knocking out as it is about punching out. For these clients, their kitchen was boxed in by an exterior wall that was recessed under extended eaves at the front of the house and an interior wall near the dining room. To make the kitchen feel less cramped and more connected, knocking out the interior wall was essential to achieving the goal of a more open, modern kitchen. With this wall gone—and additional space built under the existing roof structure—the kit…

 - Location: Davis, CA
 - Photos: 10
 - Description: The clients living in this home had multiple design challenges and needs for MAK to address. Firstly, they needed a larger kitchen. They also wanted a work area attached to the kitchen so they could be close to everything they needed when working. Additionally, they wanted to create a two-story addition that would allow for a larger bedroom for their son, a bigger kitchen for the family, a remodeled bathroom, and a second story deck to look out at the beautiful trees. MAK helped them design ever…

 - Location: Davis, CA
 - Photos: 10
 - Description: This home had multiple spatial and design layout challenges. The dining room in the home was tight and narrow which inhibited the owners to feel comfortable dining and entertaining. The kitchen was small, cramped, and outdated. Overall, the home had broken small spaces that did not provide an efficient flow through the home. To remediate these design challenges, MAK opened up the home by removing some of the interior walls, including a few load-bearing ones that prompted installing a large 30-fo…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Can I use your image on my blog page? Thanks** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can I use your image on my blog page? Thanks

A: Contact me for licensing and payment info please. You will also have to secure permission from the designer. :)

**Q: Hi, can you tell me about the print on the wall. I have to have this!** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Its not a print, it is original art. Probably be expensive to get the owner to give it up...

**Q: Re the glass enclosure??** *(in Photo Questions)*

It looks to just be hinged for support--no track--
Is that correct?
I want something similar and glass people I contacted said they were not comfortable doing tub enclosure with that little of structural support...
If there any "code" for what is correct??

A: This kind of "Frameless" tub/shower glass is very common in houses I photograph. Just google "frameless shower door" and maybe add the city you want and you should find vendors!

**Q: Pool and its dimensions as well as the yard** *(in Photo Questions)*

Could you tell me about the dimensions of this pool as well as the size of the space its within. We have a tiny tiny yard but sooooo want a plunging pool.

A: The pool is about 15x40 on a 3/4 acre lot...you can probably find a pool designer who can get you what you want on any size lot.

What is unique about this pool is how the landscaping was designed to enclose it.

**Q: Where I might find this very pretty picture? Thank you!** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: That original art is the work of Ken Kirsch, Owner, MAK Design+Build.

**Q: what is on the ground?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I lke the look of the ground - what is it?

A: It is gravel. It is purposely the pointy kind rather than round, as the designer says it stays put better.
