Kristin loves to best herself with the next “best time of her life”. She takes inspiration from 2 years at the School of the Museum of Fine Art - Boston, 5 weeks of working and living in Paris, a month-long trip to Italy and France, re-schooling at Harrington College of Design and creating her own artworks.

Her current “best time of her life” is her work with Kristin Taghon Interior Designs. Kristin took a week in 2014 to work in Oklahoma with Habitat for Humanity where she learned how to patch drywall and side a house! She enjoyed advocating for the client to pick out interior paint colors. All her life, she has enjoyed creating things, which she now realizes was her Dad’s passion too. Her childhood and her past work as a Software Engineer and Manager have given her a love of technology and the need to understand how things are built. After she took the plunge to go back to school for Interior Design, she worked for a couple well-known design firms to learn about the business of interior design before starting Cadmium Interiors - now Kristin Taghon Interior Designs.

Kristin still loves creating art and finding inspiration in travels. Kristin has a passion for the Passive House Building Standard which strives to build houses that create as much energy as it uses. This standard creates an airtight home that requires healthy, low chemical materials. Kristin enjoys creating healthy as well as beautiful spaces for her clients.

### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Vineyard Chic Kitchens, Dec. 2017**

> Kristin's easy going nature allows a natural progression of ideas between her and the client, ensuring the customers vision is turned into reality. I cannot think of a better designer to manage one's project from start to finish.

**Comment from Kristin Taghon Interior Designs, LLC:**

> Thank you SO much for your kind words! I certainly enjoy working and collaborating with you! I know you will always be able to get me what I need, no matter what! Like THIS fabulous waterfall countertop!!

**★★★★★ — lise\_loberg, July 2016**

> Kristin helped me find and select colors that turned an already great space into a truly superb space. It was such a pleasure working with her! In addition to her artistic eye, she also selected and scheduled an excellent painter.

**Comment from Kristin Taghon Interior Designs, LLC:**

> Lise, I enjoyed working with you and choosing colors that work especially for you and your space!

**★★★★★ — Bill Wetmore, June 2016**

> I hired Kristin to help me remodel my living room, change lighting and repaint my condo. I needed to brighten hallways, bedroom and utility closet. Kristin recommended the perfect fixtures as well as added lighting to a utility closet making it far more usable.
> The most dramatic change was in the living room. It had lighting around the perimeter but there was no electric in the center of the room, so it was a dark space. Kristin had the brilliant idea of building beams to run along the ceiling and install dimmable lights in the beams. It changed the ambience of the room completely. That, along with new fixtures made my home much more livable.
>
> Her patience, good taste in wallpaper and paint colors and good choice of well qualified contractors contributed to a successful job.
> I would highly recommend Kristin Taghon Interior Designs for any project.

> I have worked with Kristin on more than one project, and each time she has been an absolute delight to work with. She is both thoughtful and engaged in her approach, taking her time to listen carefully to the needs of the client and then bringing creative solutions to the table that are insanely beautiful. Her strong sense of design and her passion for beauty are clearly evident in everything she does. I have no hesitation whatsoever in giving her the highest recommendation possible!

**★★★★★ — Luther Designs, Feb. 2016**

> Kristin and I have worked on several projects together over the last 4 years. She is an extremely talented designer and always makes sure to find the right balance between cost and aesthetics. I would recommend Kristin to any of my clients that are in search of an interior designer in the Chicagoland area.

**★★★★ — scoobysteph, Oct. 2015**

> I hired Kristin after interviewing a few other designers. She was willing to provide more details about the project timeline, budget, etc before signing a contract. She was always responsive to my questions, emails, and concerns throughout the project. I had a number of ideas and she was able to narrow down my choices to what I wanted most into a cohesive look that included a variety of materials and most importantly near my budget and with materials generally in stock. The project did take longer than expected to complete, in part due to availability of contractors, but I am very happy with the finished project. I would use Kristin again for future design projects in my home.

**Comment from Kristin Taghon Interior Designs, LLC:**

> Stephanie, Thank you so much for your review. I am sure you know how much I enjoyed collaborating with you on your kitchen and dining area. I loved creating a space that was unique because it matches your personality! We were able to bring in different textures such as reclaimed wood, glass and crystal knobs. I was very excited when you were ready to take the leap into reclaimed wood and a waterfall countertop! I hope you are enjoying it immensely!

**★★★★★ — rpobloske, March 2015**

> I highly recommend Cadmium Interiors for your interior design needs. Kristin was personable, professional and creative. She took the time to really listen and understand my needs and style for re-designing my much used family room. Building upon my key requirements, Kristin helped clarify the vision for the room and brought creative ideas to me that I wouldn't have even considered. Kristin is clearly passionate about what she does, and it shows in her work. My family is thrilled with our new living space!

**Comment from Kristin Taghon Interior Designs, LLC:**

> Rebecca it was a pleasure working with you. If I could write a review for clients, you would get 5 stars! I hope you and your family continue to enjoy the space.

**★★★★ — glennak2003, Nov. 2014**

> I thought Kristin did a professional job and I would hire her again. She did an excellent job of determining my taste and tailoring recommendations based on that. She worked well with my contractor and had knowledge that I did not about building codes, etc. And she saved me a ton of time looking for choices so that I could make decisions - I would never have been able to start when I did without her help. I'm thrilled with the final product!

**Comment from Kristin Taghon Interior Designs, LLC:**

> Glenna, thank you so much for your review. I am so happy you like your new room! I was so happy to add new functionality to your loft. I enjoyed working with you. Thanks again.

**★★★★★ — Kitchen Design Partners, Inc., July 2014**

> Great service, great ideas! Managed the project from start to finish. Very professional, respectful and reasonable prices. We did several lighting projects and they all had great results. Our apartment has never looked so great! Highly recommend!

**Comment from Kristin Taghon Interior Designs, LLC:**

> Jasmin and I are so happy you are pleased! We enjoyed working with you and your family. Thanks for your review!

**★★★★★ — User, April 2014**

> I love working with Kristin and Jasmin. They are both personable and professional. We used Cadmium Interiors for Phase I renovation of my husband's office. They have been consistent and reliable every step of the way. They will be as involved as you want them to be. They have been up front with everything, and there have been no surprises. We aren't always the best about getting back in touch, but they are patiently persistent with us, so we get the results we want in the timing that works best for us. I would highly recommend Cadmium Interiors for any home/office design or renovation project. They are extremely knowledgeable about all aspects from start to finish, and if they don't have an answer right away, they will check their very capable partners and get back to me within a day or two. I appreciate their creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. There's always a solution, and they will help you find it! We plan to hire Cadmium for future work at both our home and business.

**Comment from Kristin Taghon Interior Designs, LLC:**

> Drs Weber, thank you so much for your kind words! It warms our hearts when we hear our client is happy. We can't wait to work with you on your next project!

 - Description: Clients needed full rehab of their Prairie Style Home kitchen and powder room. It dated back to the 70s. Heating and cooling was inefficient, asbestos existed under the linoleum floor and had to be abated, the lighting was poor and an old addition to the kitchen created uneven flooring. Busy backsplash and flooring created a dark area. KTID worked with contractors to have asbestos removed, flooring replaced, cabinets replaced, replace heating with toe-kick heat. The style was updated to a more c…

## Community Q&A

**Q: choosing floors-knots verus grains-too busy/too plain? bevels vs none** *(in Flooring)*

I'm having a very hard time picking a floor. I chose vinyl for the water protection and have bought some boxes from lowes since they r returnable. No floors at HD/Lowes for me. I bought a box of cortec from floor store that's not returnable and ended up feeling like it's too busy. i liked the coloring a lot, esp the charcoal mixed with the neutral tones, but while interesting I think I'd be too overwhelmed. My style has moved from modern farmhouse more to scandanavian, very eclectic, with lots of modern touches, however not too modern. I don't think that floors that are too plain are for me, either. I'll have area rugs and house is only 1600 sq ft so I'm prob spending too much time on this. island will be a brown with grey tones with butcher block top and perimeter is white with white marble looking quartz.

I had a friend in the beginning throw me off by saying knots make a house look like a cabin and ever since I'm worried about looking too country for my taste, esp since my island is already more fancy then I'd prob like at this point in this long drawn out remodel as my style changes as we go. ;) My hardware pulls I've been told are "country," too! i'll post pics. thx!

A: Hello. A bevel makes the flooring easier to install. It wont haveto match perfectly in height if there is a bevel between the planks. I, myself don't like bevel because it traps dirt. However, itreally doesn't change the look that much.
Knots - if there are few and small knots, I think you're okay. I would say, grain is not as important as uniformity. You will barely notice the grain of the planks but you will notice the variation of color from one plank to the other. I would go for something more uniform if you want less busy.

Good luck!

**Q: Can you please tell me which company makes the shutter blind?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you please tell me which company makes the shutter blind, and what type it is?

A: Beautiful wallpaper with the white and black (or is that a dark gray?). Pretty neat mirror as well!

**Q: Grab bars in a glass shower** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Can grab bars be placed on a glass walled shower?

A: You're right!! I should have said reinforced!!

**Q: Furniture dilemma in Fam Room** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I need help and suggestions since I am redoing our family room. We recently added a fireplace and I want to buy some new couches, or sectional and or chairs!! I really can't make up my mind or make a commitment- I like the open airy look - we do love to watch TV and lounge. With the new television being up so high it is nice to be back further to watch TV. My husband pretty much lays on the couch to watch TV. Maybe I could change that LOL. I like the look of the matching sofas which is what I had previously (the dog ate one of them in a recent anxiety attack while locked inside the house ) but in our living room I can't put them across from each other very well because it affects the layout and natural flow from the kitchen. I put the two sofas at right angles previously but now wonder if I should get a sectional instead. I'm scared to do this because I know it limits my options. I've also always had a couch against the wall of windows and feel that leaving it there with just one or two chairs in front would love too stark. Currently we have a hodgepodge of chairs to fill the space until we get some new furniture. I want to choose a later sand color and I'm thinking about adding a light colored rug as well. You can see from the before remodel picture that I did have a large fluffy white rug and the2 sofas . Please help! I'm open to ideas and suggestions as I can't make up my mind

A: May, I would not layer a rug on top of another rug. Rugs are about grouping. You could drape it over something or hang it or just use it as a rug with no other rug. Layering rugs on others just makes rooms look smaller. If you MUST layer, especially if your furniture grouping won't fit on it, I would put a flat weave rug that is almost the size of the room down and lay the cowhide rug on it.

**Q: Faucet** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you please tell me who makes this faucet? Thanks.

A: @higginsd these faucets are by Pfister. Thanks for your interest!

**Q: Any chance artist will sell prints?** *(in Product Questions)*

LOVE this painting! noticed that it was sold out/out of stock but would purchase a print if available... Thank you!

A: What a great piece! This totally says Summer!!
