Sure, in such a large project there are going to be hiccups here and there. But most importantly, everything was handled super professionally and it was genuinely as smooth as could be reasonably expected. Demo began the first week of May, and the bathroom was about 95% complete and useable by the last week of June. There were a few weeks to wait for the glass door install (which was expected and communicated from the very start), and a couple of backordered plumbing fixtures that didn't arrive until late July (temporary replacements were installed in the meantime so the shower was fully functional). But all told, we "moved out" of our room for under two months. > None of it was cheap, of course. That said, we found them totally in the same range as other places we met, and felt we got really great quality. Not only the quality of the gorgeous bathroom that we love, but great quality in the people who made it happen. In both cases, the footprint of the rooms did not change. > > In the kitchen they took everything down to the studs, and widened a door opening from a single door to a double French door opening, and on another wall they moved a doorway a few feet to the left and made it an archway to match archways we have in other parts of the house. They also put in new recessed lighting, installed all new cabinetry and appliances. The bathroom was a remodel as well and the framework of the room remained the same. We had a very unique project and Kaytlyn provided us with a fantastic layout and incorporated our ideas. **★ — Jeffrey Dunn, June 2023** > We paid Design 1 alot of money to remodel our two upstairs bathrooms, and they were relatively more expensive than other designers. Despite that, we ended up with a long laundry-list of issues during and after they completed their works. First of all, the vanity in one of the bathrooms was a few inches too low and interfered with the sink faucet. They only noticed this after we mentioned it, they eventually fixed it. The painters used cheap primer, and less than a year after they finished, the ceiling paint was pealing (even though we used a good fan whenever we showered). Also, we had existing air conditioning ducts and when the construction workers installed the new ceiling drywall, they put all the duct work on the wrong side of the drywall so, now we have to call the air-conditioning company to fix that. There were also problems with the design company keeping inventory...All the equipment was in our garage bay for months but, only when they were ready to install the new toilets, did they realize one of the two toilets was missing. We had to re-order the toilet, which had a one year lead-time. I also had issues with workers coming into our house without notice, on days and at hours when they agreed not to come, such as on weekends and on Labor Day. The fact that I'm still dealing with their issues more than 1 and 1/2 years after they "completed" work makes my blood boil. I am not satisfied with the work Design 1 performed in my home and I would not recommend them to anyone. **Comment from Design 1 Kitchen & Bath:** > Jeffrey, > We are apologetic that you felt your experience working with us was so dissatisfying. Any problem or issue that occurs during the remodeling process or there after we can only hope to have the chance to rectify. As the end user certain things may come up that we did not notice, and maybe we should have. If you recall the toilet backorders amid COVID were terrible – and your 1-piece specialty color was no exception. Our supplier failed to notify us that the original was broken and removed from the order. We can agree if we were aware of this sooner, the additional 2-3 months waiting for the replacement could have been cut down.
