The house was only a shell when we began our renovation. I found her work outstanding for a number of reasons. Among them: > > •She was a highly competent designer in addition to being an excellent architect. This was a very pleasant surprise for two reasons: > 1)Architecture and design are intimately connected. Heather was able to see her vision through from the macro decisions to the smallest design details. The outcome was completely harmonious. > 2)Consequently, I incurred considerable savings of money and time, as I did not have to work with two separate teams. > > •She is one of the most creative people I have ever met. She has an innovative way of crafting design solutions and using materials that is pleasing and unique. Often time, her recommendations provided me with substantial cost savings. > > •While being a consummate professional, Heather had a way of making us feel valued as people as well as clients. She was a good listener and often went the extra mile to make sure the work was done in response to our needs as a family. > > •Finally, and importantly, in an industry populated by hard-nosed contractors and the like, Heather was tough. She continually found out-of-the box ideas to all areas of the project. > Starting with the plan of adding a library for displaying books, DVDs, CDs and magazines, our project grew to an addition of a two story library and indoor pool with sauna and steam room.
