I believe that great design is not about a good piece of artwork, perfectly scaled furniture, efficient traffic patterns, proper architectural millwork, strong textural contrasts, or a well thought-out color palette complemented by a variety of lighting levels. Great design is a combination of ALL of those details and many more. Each detail of a space is carefully coordinated, and creates a unique signature, or feeling, that every person experiences when they visit. There are no rules to follow; every project should be personalized for the people who will be using the space. I love the idea that, with good design, I can personally affect someone's daily life by making their home or workplace more functional and beautiful. I look forward to the opportunity to help you transform your space. -Lindsey Richardson

> Lindsey was amazing! I had a very small kitchen that was poorly laid out. Lindsey was able to make everything flow so nice with the space that we had. She is truly a miracle worker. We get so many compliments on our new kitchen. Her design ideas were so easy to make happen. She found a use for every bit of our space. We will definitely use Lindsey and Details Design studio for future needs!

> Lindsey was wonderful to work with building our "forever" home. I really don't know what I would have done without her. She help put together our entire house; flooring, paint, lighting, layouts, countertops, furniture, fixtures - everything. She went with me to many stores, and she was always available to talk things through. I have a hard time visualizing the final product, and she was able to provide me sketches to how something would look in a room or how a room would look. She got to know our style, and she would send emails with creative ideas and options. For instance, she sent over countless lighting ideas for my husband and I to agree on the perfect light for
> each room. I could go on and on, but she made the building process easier on me. On top of this all, she became a friend to me during our project. She is an honest, and caring person. I would highly recommend Lindsey!

> Lindsey is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to both design and work flow. From the start she exhibited both enthusiasm and excitement about our project. Lindsey provided high quality floor plans for the renovation of our centennial farm keeping our family history at the fore front while incorporating treasured heirlooms in the design plans. She listened to our ideas attentively and follow up with us on a regular basis confirming that the plans met our expectations while keeping us abreast of timelines. Our project is ongoing and we will continue to utilize Lindsey's talents for future design needs.

> If you are looking for designer don’t hesitate to give Lindsay a call. From the moment she walked in our cottage it was like a breath of fresh air. Lindsay is very professional and knowledgeable. She was spot on in designing the coziest cottage for my family. Above all Lindsay is “practical”. So she is not going to have some insane recommendation that you can’t clean or afford. She also works again and again w/you if the plan changes. That can happen when you are doing a big project. She did our entire cottage room by room. Tastefully suggestions and spot on paint colors. The floor she picked out for us we totally love. I would have never put that one together. The floor was affordable from Lowe’s. She kept in touch. Was always available for phone calls text messages-always got back to me in timely manner. Her fee was beyond fair. I thankful for her everyday when see my beautiful cottage.

> Lindsey from DETAILS Design Studio was a great addition to our master bathroom remodel project team! She listened to our needs and style choices, and then showed us some creative design elements and layout ideas, as well as recommendations to really make the project come together. Lindsey was ready and available any time we needed her, and helped to keep the project moving forward. I enjoyed working with her and would hire her again!

> When we began the building process I wasn’t even sure I needed/wanted the assistance of a designer but I can honestly say now that I’m not sure how I would’ve ever done it without Lindsey!!! I appreciate her help in building our beautiful dream house more than I can ever explain in words. She was beyond instrumental in helping me to pick the million things at various lighting, tile, flooring, and furniture stores with me. She has an ability to allow me some creativeness while also giving me the perfect amount of advice. I also so appreciate that she kept my priorities in order while giving advice: budget, function/storage(we have four kids ages 3-13), and style. She is also Beyond Amazing at drawing/sketching things which is so helpful to me since I can’t always imagine how things look u til seeing them visually. And, she is probably the most organized and available professional I have ever worked with. I can not recommend her enough to anyone looking for help from the beginning stages of design to the finishing touches. And, I miss talking to her so often and now call her a dear friend. I can’t imagine working with anyone else. I am very thankful that I found her!!

> Lindsay was wonderful to work with. My husband and I were working on a build from Oregon and trying to put color and real design to our blueprints. Lindsay was able to show us what the house would look like and what features we would want to accomplish our goal. She is amazing and great at what she does.

**★★★★★ — Erica Wolbrink, March 2019**

> Lindsey is a dedicated design professional. She is there through all of the big and small design questions. At times, choosing the smallest of designs becomes overwhelming, but Lindsey is there to help get you what you want. She helped design our new kitchen remodel. I am so thankfully we had her expertise during this process. Our remodel turned out just the way we imagined, only because of Lindsey's expertise!

> Details Design Studio helped us transform our master bedroom closet. After providing some quick and easy measurements of our space, they drew up several different arrangement options based on our needs, gave us insights on the color, and ease of install. Super professional and great to work with. We're definitely going to use them again for our other bedrooms!!!

**★★★★★ — meggie314, Sept. 2018**

> Lindsey at Details Design Studio is great to work with! We renovated our kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, bedrooms and Lindsey was there every step of the way. She helped to pick everything from tile to wallpaper to knobs. She is very easy to work with! She never pressures you to go with something - she helps you find the pieces that go with your style. She truly made this process easy and fun! I would highly recommend Lindsey!

**★★★★★ — Mary Piskor, Aug. 2018**

> Lindsey was a no pressure type person that offered some new ideas for our small living area. She also reviewed some furniture choices and came up with better ones! Our area will soon have a more open look thanks to her. Furniture is on order, cellular cordless shades will get ordered today........new valances will be coming and new lighting! Looking forward to the change.SO much easier to have a new set of eyeballs come up with a different look by hiring someone rather than GOOGLING!

## Community Q&A

**Q: New quartz countertops questions** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello all! I am remodeling my kitchen, and we are getting new quartz countertops. We added a small island as it is not a huge kitchen. The island is 39 inches wide and 54 long, sitting ontop of 24 inch deep cabinets. This will leave a 15 inch over hang.

Main question is how many and how long of brackets do I need to make this overhang safe? Also anything else I need to be aware of?

A: Are you installing the counter? The fabricator should be figuring this in to their install. Are you talking decorative suppport or integrated support?

**Q: Ground beef challenge** *(in Home Decorating Conversations)*

Caveat: No meatballs, chili, lasagna, spaghetti, sloppy Joe's, burgers or meatloaf.
I overbought ground beef (Costco organic 3-pack) when kids were home for the holidays, and now have a package leftover. I don't want it to get lost in the freezer, but I also don't want the default ground beef recipes that are typical comfort food.
Do you have any go-to recipes that use ground beef more sparingly, and that are lighter fare? If so, please share.
I can cook almost anything, but I've never stuffed a pepper or cabbage roll in my life. I'd love any/all recommendations of what works with this level of labor, or any other suggestions you may have.
eta, was hoping to cross-post to the Cooking forum, but it's not an option in the list. Leaving this here, unless anyone has suggestions.

A: I make a vegetable beef soup in the instant pot that is super quick, lighter and very good. A crock pot should work too.

**Q: Your help with this Kitchen Layout, please : )** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm designing a 4000 sf house (speculative build). It's on an urban lot in Texas.
I'd like some input on this kitchen (or any input you think would be beneficial).
My main question is around the work triangle. I have this layout because it looks pretty good and creates a large pantry. Other options I see are \#2) trying to flip the fridge and pantry, or \#3) moving the fridge to the left of the range and moving the range towards the right. I'll put images below.
I'm also curious about overall aesthetics (and symmetry/balance). How does the fireplace need to relate to the kitchen and any parts of it.
Thank you for your time and input!
Patrick

A: I believe option 1 is the most functional for most families. Pantry is close for cooking supplies. You can leave the door open most of the time and its an extension of the kitchen - just a couple steps away. Sink and fridge have good relationship for getting fresh ingredients out and washed. Plus fridge is in great spot for kids to come get snacks or drinks without interrupting work flow of cook or prep. Yes, a sink at a window can be nice if you do a lot of dishes, but most families I have worked with prefer it in island to keep an eye on kids and over by the window is far from fridge.

**Q: What do I do with all this spinach?!** *(in Home Decorating Conversations)*

I got a Fresh delivery yesterday, and since I eat salad every day, ordered baby spinach and other types of lettuce.
I didn’t pay attention to the details of the container of spinach, not realizing it would be the size of a small suitcase. It was on sale, so.
There’s no way I can eat all this before it turns into refrigerator sludge.
WWYD?
To show the size of this, I compiled some pictures for you:
Next to the big TV:

On the game table:

It’s bigger than a Tabby cat:

Almost the size of my toaster:

((That black-out on the cutting board is my name. My dad had it custom made for me. :)))
This is a lot of spinach! Plus, I got other lettuce, too! I have a mere number of days to deal with this.

A: I would make a bunch of spinach pesto and freeze it in ready-to use sizes, perfect for eggs or stir-fry.

**Q: my place is going to be gutted for at least 3 weeks** *(in Appliances)*

Not only that but cabinets will not be delivered for 19 weeks.
2 questions:
I want to by a small refrigerator. Can I just plug it in?
I need to broil bake and heat water for coffee. Is there a gadget that does all this?
Who knows when appliances appear. I just picked them out.
The refridge I want I can have delivered now. I will never use the ice maker in the side by side. There is no water feature.I had a flood from my water features in my last side by side.
Could I just plug in my new side by side refrigerator and freezer and keep things at proper temp?
Thanks, Maggie

A: Yes - a hot plate. Its a banned staple in every college dorm room. That plus a toaster oven will give you the ability to cook just about anything.

**Q: Integrated bathroom sinks - material, brands, sink depth and colors?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello!
I'm remodeling a bathroom, and thinking I'd like a wide (60 - 80”) vanity top with an integrated single sink off center.
I need a primer and help in understanding on how integrated sinks work:
1\. What material can I use for an integrated sink counter?
I came across Corian, Krion, Hi-Mac so far. Any other brands or material I should look into? Quartz? Caesarstone? I don’t want stainless steel. Not a fan of granite or similar patterns.
2.Do integrated sinks only come in shallow depth?
The fabricator I was referred to said to use Corian, and says Corian only has 5” sinks in stock currently. Where can I find other depths? So far all the pictures I’ve seen are shallow rectangles. I wouldn’t mind an oval either..
But people talk about integrated sinks for the kitchen, so they must exist?
3\. Quartz:
Do quartz they work the same way as “solid surface” (is that Corian?) - a fabricator bends that around the sink mold?
4\. Colors:
I only see white colors - can I get an integrated sink top in different colors? White is preferable, but I may end up with a white cabinet with white subway (ugh!), so I need a plan B.
I love the ceramic look, but I have yet to see any that comes wider than 49”. That’s why I think I’ll need to get a fabricator to make me an integrated sink vanity top.
Thank you!

A: You could also consider a cultured marble countertop. There are newer matte finishes and updated sink shapes that dont look dated like some of the old styles..
