This is the point where my good experience with Act1 ended. I live about 25 miles where they are located and asked if this distance would be an issue and I was told it would not be. Once I decided to schedule the work and make a deposit I had to call several times to try and get the work scheduled even though I was assured someone would call me to schedule the job, no one ever did. The weekend before the job was supposed to be completed I still had not received a firm date even after paying my deposit, so once again I called them to find out what was going on. When Brian called me back he said he was waiting on me to respond to his email, of which I never received, because there was a $100 out of town fee. This fee was never mentioned before and was about a 25% increase of my small job. Do you lay a trim piece and silicon it? Will that compromise the floors ability to 'float'? My fear is that the cork cushion will soak up water and swell. A: Yes, you are right, silicon is used to seal the edges. The cork backing will not soak up and swell, but could mold or mildew if it has constant exposure to moisture, so because of that we put 6 mil moisture barrier underneath all of our installations of Coretec.
