> Purchasing cabinets from MCKB has been the most expensive mistake I’ve ever made. I hope you don’t make the same one.
>
> After about a year of use (in a home with one, and occasionally two, careful adults), the expensive Signature cabinets I purchased from MCKB are, in effect, dissolving around my dishwasher; over the stove and elsewhere, edges are splitting; in some places, there is cracking; installation (by MCKB’s contractor) was careless; and the cabinets are frayed around the bases.
>
> Prior to renovating my kitchen in 2019, I had cabinets that (after 27 years) were in far, far better condition than these are now. Worst of all, because of the way the damage has occurred to the MCKB cabinets, I don’t even see how they can be repaired, without ripping them out and replacing them.
>
> I haven’t posted this sooner because I have been waiting – actually begging -- for these companies to do the right thing. I just couldn’t believe they had no intention to make things right.
>
> But after months of emails, calls, photos, pleading and finally threatening, neither MCKB nor Signature has offered any solution or taken any responsibility for the damage, even though all the damage resulted from normal kitchen use, with normally operating kitchen appliances (each of which is identified, by make and model, on the kitchen drawings drafted by MCKB).
>
> At one point, after some months of emails, the owner of MCKB emailed me that he’d “'personally reached out to the owners of Signature cabinetry to demand that they get back to you .” That was the last I heard from him, and a month after that, no one from Signature had contacted me.
>
> Finally, I called Signature. I was told I would hear back. No call back. Eventually, by email, I somehow succeeded in getting Signature and MCKB to come to look at the damage.
>
> They took a lot of pictures. That resulted, again, in absolutely nothing. I was promised a response by last week – on a date chosen by Signature and MCKB -- and I made clear to them that the date they chose was a firm date. On that date, I received nothing other than an email that Signature had written a report, but the owner of MCKB needed to review it. Again – the runaround.
>
> The cabinets I purchased are expensive garbage, and neither MCKB nor Signature, who have my thousands and thousands of dollars, are refusing to stand by their service, product and promises (including a lifetime warranty from Signature).
>
> I am going to pursue my rights against both these companies as best I can, but in the meantime, I hope I can keep others from making the same mistake I made.

> We highly recommend MCKB!
>
> We did our new kitchen (and more..) with them. Project included removal of a wall, all new floors + ceilings + doors, a huge amount of re-piping both for the plumbing and the steam heat, and also new cabinets and appliances. Also renovated adjacent powder room and refurbished and painted all the other rooms on the first floor of our nearly 100 year old townhouse.
>
> Start to finish, and step by step, the MCKB team helped us with every aspect of the project. From the oh-so-difficult decision making process at the start all the way to cleaning the fingerprints off the new fridge at final completion, we found a level of professionalism and helpfulness from everyone on this staff that is quite rare.
>
> Before we started, our friends who had done a similar job on LI told me that the worst part of their renovation project was when, in the middle of the project, no one from the contractor showed up on any given day and they were left wondering what's going on as the days slipped by and the kitchen seemed to be on hold... THIS NEVER HAPPENED! NOT EVEN ONCE!! Construction crews were scheduled perfectly, arriving every day at 8:30 sharp with the right guys for what needed to be done that day.
>
> The American made Rutt cabinetry we purchased from MCKB is absolutely beautiful, well designed and built with quality materials throughout.. even the inside parts you never see. No particleboard here! Fit and finish is perfect. And there is a definite 'wow factor' with these cabinets when people see them for the first time:)
>
> We ordered our new appliances from Drimmer's, which is located inside the MCKB showroom. (They also have a larger location in Brooklyn.) Pricing was great and customer service was totally on point. Appliances were delivered and installed on schedule (except the fridge, which was backordered by the manufacturer. Drimmer's delivered a loaner fridge for us to use and when ours finally came in, they swapped it out:) Nice!
>
> Our quartzite countertops also came out beyond our expectations. We chose our slab at the stone yard. The fabricator came to measure, and then did a flawless installation. Perfect.
>
> In terms of price, MCKB is not the bargain basement of builders, but like many things in life, here you really do get what you pay for.
>
> So to sum up:
> -Great design team.
> -Incredible consistency and quality in all aspects of demo/construction/finish work.
> -Never missed a day - not one day - for the entire duration of the project.
> -Amazingly helpful attitude from all employees.
> -Beautiful, show-stopping end result.
>
> UPDATE JUNE 2019: After 6 months in our new kitchen, we had a few minor issues which needed attention. One phone call later, we had the 2 people necessary to fix these issues both on our calendar. They came exactly when they said they would, made the necessary repairs, and left everything as clean as it had been when they arrived.

> We redid our kitchen with Hany Gerges and could not recommend strongly enough. From the design to post installation adjustments/corrections, Hany showcased why you want a reputable company to do a major renovation like kitchen.
>
> We own a brownstone and wanted to redo our galley kitchen, since the cabinets are starting to show signs of aging. The kitchen was converted from a butler's pantry, not big, about 15'x5'. One of the major requirements we had was to maximize storage, since we wanted to keep as much of the kitchen cookware and pantry inside the kitchen. We shopped around different designers and found MCKB's showroom to be impressive. But the real winner is Hany, the designer.
>
> Hany was very patient in listening to our functional requirements (storage maximizing), design requirements (matching traditional interior design theme), cost considerations (we wanted good quality, but not magazine center folds), etc. Since this was our first kitchen renovation, we shifted and changed requirements often during the design phase and Hany was very accommodating. More impressive is that he was able to respectfully interject with suggestions that we would not have considered. Practicality was something that he brought to the table. The fee required for the design work was well worth it, even if we decided to not use MCKB.
>
> Ordering and installation was a breeze, with Hany also able to guide us on how the appliances may have implications to the cabinetry layout. The installation team was part of the MCKB crew and you can tell they have tight communication and work experiences together. Hany remained the primary point of contact throughout the process, including when we wanted cabinet door adjustments. Work was done on time and on schedule.
>
> But to me, the real strength to going with a reputable firm like MCKB is that they stand behind their work. About 2 weeks after the full installation, I noticed a hairline fracture on the refrigerator panel. A quick email to Hany and replacement was ordered and reinstalled. It was quite the relief to know that when you run into issues, MCKB is there.
