I was new to this process and I was completing my project myself so I was soaking in their knowledge and suggestions. They allowed me to take home samples and view them in my own home. My fireplace turned out beautifully and I am so excited about the project that I completed. The only issue I had with this project was the measuring and deciding how much stone I needed to complete the project. I relied on them to assist with this. I brought my measurements and the measurements included the size on the gas fireplace that was already in place and I was stoning around. The woman assisting me looked over my measurements and gave me a price. I asked about deducting the fireplace area from the total needed but she stated they don't usually deduct that area. Being new at this I accepted her advice. I had a box and a half left over and when I returned the one box (that was unopened) she stated that they will have to go through the box and make sure all of the stone was there and that a credit would not be credited until they have the time to go through it. The next day I had to call them and they stated they would be giving me a credit minus the 20% restocking fee. This is was only a small amount of money but the reason I had a whole box left over was because the employee told me they don't deduct the fireplace area from the project. I feel that they took advantage of my lack of knowledge. Live and learn! **Comment from Eagle Stone & Brick, Inc.:** > I am sorry that you felt that we took advantage of you. I can assure you that we would never intentionally do that or want a customer to feel that way. It is our company standard to recommend ordering a little extra so that you have choices of stones to pick from when installing. There are many variables to an installation job and we never know the complete scope of how cuts will need to be made, and how much waste there will be, etc. We want everyone to have enough material to cover the area without having to come back and get another box to finish. A: I think what is popular depends on the area you live in. Trends often start on the coasts and work their way toward the Midwest. I know that whites and grays are still very popular, but the warmer colors are trending back in. I think you can decorate and style to your personal preference.
