Everything in this kitchen goes except the floor. We will have white cabinets as shown below. Granite choices: We are leaning towards Thunder White. But it hardly has any warm colors in it. Will it look funny with this floor or does that not matter since it is a neutral floor? Thunder White Granite: River White. Like this the best except for the diagonal pattern - don't think it would look good in a galley kitchen, especially on the left hand side. But this has a lot of cool grey and cream with touches of other colors. Caesarstone Quartz - I'd get a little fancier of a backsplash if we get this. It is a little warmer in person than it is showing in the pic. Thanks for your help! A: I actually really like the Ceasarstone Quartz. I think it'd make a galley kitchen look bright. But like Anne said, if you can eventually replace the floors then I'd get whatever countertop you like best. **Q: Living Room Make-Over** *(in Design Dilemma)* HI there - We just moved into our new house. I would like a new couch and to reupholster the existing orange chair. I love the following which are all from Room and Board: rug, the gray chair, coffee table and small gray table. Any ideas for couch color and new chair color? THANK YOU A: I am a big fan of light neutrals for furniture because it brightens the room and you can add pops of color with accessories. I'd go with light grey/ivory for the couch and chair. If you're feeling bold you could do a pattern on the chair. You could have the main background color of the pattern be the same color as the couch (say light grey) and then whichever accent colors you like best. **Q: Pink brick dilemma** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi, all- We just purchased this rose brick house, and we are replacing the front door. My question-what color should front door be to tone down pink-ness of brick? What color should accents (door knocker, lights, door knob) be? I'm thinking dark dark grey with polished brass, but let me know if that will look crazy..thank you!! :) A: What about a wood door like the second one in this link? - http://packerbrick.com/products/reclaimed-antique-brick  ^Maybe one with reddish tones following Elle's advice? I think wood doors are classic and stand out quite a bit. My eye is drawn to the door more than the brick where as with the green (and probably a grey) door I notice the door as an accent but pay attention to the brick. Does that make sense? I would do bronze hardware but that's completely a personal preference since I don't care for brass. **Q: Need help with size for floating shelves in kitchen!!** *(in Design Dilemma)* After considering all input from Houzz,I decided to go it floating shelves to the left of the cabinet to store cookbooks. How wide should they be? Should they go al the way to the edge? A: I personally would have them go all the way to the edge for two reasons: 1) cleaner look and 2) more useful space. Beautiful kitchen, btw! **Q: Curb Appeal Ideas** *(in Design Dilemma)* Recently removed awnings and pressure washed. Ideas please... Add porch.... add plants HELP!! A: ^ Love the idea of a slate blue door!
